I never want a person fired, but I really thought it was just a matter of time.

Did he say inappropriate things on air? Why'd you think it was only a matter of time? I have no idea who the guy is and am not in that listening region, so I have no backstory.

I don't think he was very well liked by those who listened. Many people who I talk to here in Cleveland about sports have completely stopped listening to 923 The Fan solely because of him. IMO, he just isn't good. He's very off putting, sounds like Krusty the Clown, and is nonsensical in just about every topic.

That's why I think it was just a matter of time. I feel like many people agree with my own thoughts on the matter.

One more thing---As much as I'd like Johnny Manziel to work out, his "bro-love fest" for him (literally daily) was absolutely nauseating. Everything Browns related centered around JM and it really took a negative turn every time. The topic could have been about our 7th round picks and Booms would find a way to express his undying love. It was just bad radio.

Yeah, Hammer is pretty bad too. Personally, I think Rizzo is the worst.

Unfortunately, IMO, Cleveland talk radio is being headlined by some pretty bad personalities. However, there is hope with some young guys like Ken Carmen, Anthony Lima, etc. Hopefully, these guys get promoted sooner rather than later.

I'd get rid of Andy Baskin too. I think he may be the most uneducated, uninformed sports guy in town. Just plain dumb.

(Rant over)

Booms was unlistenable. I prefer local sports talk in morning drive, but Kiley & Booms drove me to Mike & Mike. Ken Carman would be good with his evening show sidekicks - not Kiley. I wouldn't mind if 92.3 then gave the evening slot to Kenny Roda, who was fired last year by 'KNR.

TBH I've actually emailed 92.3 a couple of times. I've never been able to listen to the Fan on the way to work because of his nauseating voice and consistently calling people idiots and morons.

I've never understood what sports commentator credentials he's had. I've always thought he considered himself to be a comedian.

I hope The Fan is listenable in the morning now. thumbsup

Just a local radio sports guy. Very Rude and brash. And he doesn't have much in the way of anything worthwhile to say. Rubs people the wrong way and interrupts people he's asking questions of.

Kinda of a jerk on air.

Like Memphis, I don't like seeing people getting fired, but I'm not even a little upset by his dismissal.

Apparently the station has confirmed that they've parted ways and they wish him the best of luck.

I can't stand when hosts do that. Whenever they do, I change the channel/station.

I know this will come off offensive at a time someone just lost their job, but I disliked that guy big time. To be honest, I stopped tuning into 92.3 because how he was.

Wow maybe I'll listen to it again. Hopefully they scrap that dumb Ahead or Behind skit!

Perhaps that's the reason they dumped him. People were doing exactly as you said you'd do, tuning out, changing channels?

+100000

I enjoy local sports talk but him (and Kiley for that matter) are un-listenable. It really makes me wonder how they keep these jobs for so long.

Him interrupting people, who was in the middle of making a solid and legit point, was so incredibly annoying. Just couldn't disagree with him whether you were right or wrong.

I listened to it a little on my way into work, first time I've purposely tuned into 92.3 for some time!

I still laugh when I think how Chris Sheridan knocked Booms down ten rungs when Booms was interviewing him regarding the LBJ returning report he scooped. In typical Boom's fashion, he would ask a question and then talk right over Sheridan. You could sense that it was coming and finally Sheridan had enough and basically told booms to shut-up if he wanted him to continue on with the interview. Booms interrupting made me turn the channel during almost all interviews. He just isn't good. I can't believe that years ago, he was considered an up and coming. Google him and read the old articles.

I don't want Ken Carmen going to morning drive. I like his show too much and he would be neutered going to morning drive. No more "Tall-Boy Fridays". Ken Carmen is an up-and-comer and, IMHO, will go National some day. I think he is that good and the show can be that funny. It also helps that he engages his listeners via twitter while on and off air.

Try fitting Mike Polk in with the morning show and see how it goes.

I like Mike Polk, but the problem to me is, that is just another Booms just not as brash and over-the-top rude. It's just another comedian that isn't a sports talk guy.

And that's what I want--two guys that can meaningfully talk about Cleveland sports. People may hate him (I don't) but they already have one in Kevin Kiley. The dude has been and done just about everything on the national level and brings a lot of credibility. Playing in the NFL (although short lived) adds to that.

I understand your Ken Carmen take but I've listened to Carmen and Kiley together and it was some of the best damn sports talk I've heard in a very long time. I'm rooting for that to happen, personally.

Booms was terrible. Only forced myself to listen on Mondays after the Browns won and even at that he was never happy. For a Homer he sure was negative even when they won. Also dude dressed like a slob on Pregame show. Everyone else was in a suit and tie and booms was sitting there in a stained Hawaiian shirt.

Also got a kick on how bitter he was that Drew Carey (not booms) is the comedian from Cleveland everyone knows. He even went so far as to claim he (booms) was the reason Carey was so successful and Carey never thanked him.

Good riddance to a terrible talk show guy.
