I'm not certain as to how to turn that news into a positive of any sort.
Any help? He was my age.
Be thankful you were not on the bike with him. Be thankful that your wife or children were not on the bike with him. Be thankful that the accident did not leave him paralyzed from the neck down. There is always a bright side, and usually a way to poke fun at life Arch. People are always telling me I look good now. My response..... Damn I must have been really ugly before I got cancer and had the strokes because nobody ever told me I looked good before. Maybe I should have gotten cancer and had the strokes years ago since they made me look so good now
Actually, I did think about some positives today. Sucks to say, but a friend of ours, (not a super close friend, but a friend) I played football with him, he was in my wifes h.s. class..........suffered a stroke last week. 44 years old. Ran, rode bike, was a very "fit" man.
He's in a coma and while it's still too early to tell, docs are saying he might not talk again, walk again, or, really, do anything.
He played Div. 1 football. 6'6", 315 lbs. After graduating, he was invited to the NY Giants training camp. (He was released real early.)
Got married, went to get life insurance and was told he had high blood pressure. He didn't want to pay what the insurance companies wanted - so he started running, biking, eating right. 6'6" 225 lbs is what he got down to. Healthy as could be. He got his life insurance then.
So yeah, in regards to the guy that died I was thinking "that might be better than what Joe is probably facing."
today my oldest came home and said she's the new class captain(1st grade). she got the position because the other kid got fired.

Daughter's v-ball team moved to 7-4, and that's missing 3 players that got moved up to j.v. or varsity.
Today was a perfect storm kind of day, for sleeping in. Spent the evening at a football game, then at a friends house. Went home - house was nice and cool, and dark. Slept like a log. Had to have my daughter to the school at 8 so she could work a tourney. I came back home, got in bed. It was, and is, a dark, rainy, dreary, cool, cloudy day. Perfect day to go back to sleep. So I did. Til Dummy the dog woke me back up.
Off shortly to get my daughter, bring her home, then take her back uptown for her first Home Coming Dance, and while she's there, wife and I are headed off to another friends house to congregate with 12-16 other friends.
Oh, I know! I may have been right about Brandon Weeden. Look at how well he's playi ......
Oh never mind .....

Good, productive day of work. Daughter's practice wasn't near as bad as she had thought it might be. Had a good conversation with Sooga and my wife at supper. Watched the sunset while I was mowing. Weather today was perfect.
Just thankful for today, and looking forward to tomorrow. Work wise, things are getting hectic - but, oddly enough, it's all working out just grand.
I went to Cleveland City Hall to pull an electrical work permit for the house. I actually managed to get downtown, park, do paperwork and get the permit and get out of there - all in under an hour.
No lines, no waiting.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
On Sunday I managed to secure a date for Friday night! I was pretty excited because we don't know each other well, but we've known each other awhile. Our mutual friends think we'd be a good match.
But then on Monday she said she enjoys my company just as a friend
But I even though it won't be a date, I think we're still going to go out to dinner anyway.

Sat with my mom and dad, sister, niece and nephews, plus my brother and his wife (that live out of state) for my daughters v-ball game tonight. (they won. Sooga had a kill for the final point!)
Will finish up a big job tomorrow, and lined up a big job for next month. (those big jobs are my bread and butter and I thank God for them).
But I realize many of my posts have been about "me", or "us". What did I do today to help someone? What did I do today to improve someone?
Thanks for the reminder Arch. Drove to Rochester from NW PA to support a friend in a new endeavor that brought much stress, anticipation and anxiety. She did very well and I am proud of her!
I had "Kiddy Care" at church today. Yeah, me. Wife didn't want to do it, so she went to early church. Daughter spent the night at a friends house so I "over ruled" mom on the "you're going to church thing and let my daughter sleep in, since she was going to have a late night.
That left me doing kiddy care (and a girl I recruited)
"Who stinks?" Okay, change that diaper. Read a book to 3 kids and then have to put the book down because 2 kids are "fighting". Then, crawl under the table to explain to a kid that took all the crackers "Hey, you can't just take all the crackers and hide under here" then "hey, where are your socks? Where are your shoes? Why'd you take your socks off?" Then "yes, that's a toy helicopter, but it doesn't fly, you can't just throw it at people."
Then "hey, you going to get back here and finish reading this book?"
9 kids. 9 active kids. Me, and my 6th grade helper.
I had one of my proudest moments as a parent tonight. I got to walk out onto the field with my son in his last home game as a HS football player. Didn't think I would be that emotional, but seeing my wife tear up kind of got to me.

Positive things for today. I am home with my family here and didn't have another major stroke. (It was only a TIA that cleared up on its own after 20 min yesterday)
Well, that IS a good thing. Kinda makes my positives pale in comparison.
Went to bed early last night - early for me, for a Friday. Got up, took my f.i.l.'s roll off wrecker to a neighboring town to pick up the car. Got it home, and now my wife and Sooga are "cleaning" it.
Volleyball game tonight, then possibly a friends kids' flag football game, then out to eat.
Sorry to hear that you had a TIA, but like you said, Thank God it was only minor.

Oh, and I had a birthday.
Arch every one of your positives make me feel good. Keep up the great work as a husband, father, and friend (I know you will)
Work has been going well. Busy, and I love it because I normally slow down this time of year.
Went to visit my 93 year old grandma yesterday. She filled us in on what the Indians need to do, and also what the Browns need to do.
My wife and daughter are happy. Daughter brought home a 4.0 grade card - that's straight "A's". Not A-.
Couldn't wish my mom a happy 74th birthday in person because she and dad were in PA for a church meeting, but I did have a long chat with them (speaker phone) as they were driving.
Leaves done today, for the 3rd time this week. Mulching.
Friends coming over to watch the game tonight.
Some serious repair work going on tomorrow for my work equipment - which leaves me with all day with the dog, then hunting in the evening.
Wife and daughter going to a water park for the weekend, courtesy of mom in law.
Forgot to mention, friend got a deer. He took it to a processor. Then, Wednesday, his son got a deer. Hung it here in the barn. We skinned and quartered it last night.
Weather has been awesome as well.
I'm gonna love tomorrow, even if I don't know what it will bring.
I am positive that I woke up at 3:30 this morning in a good mood and positive I will enjoy myself both today and tomorrow. My daugher-in-laws baby shower is tomorrow
Usually I go to my brother-in-law's garage when I need my car fixed, Dave's Precision Automotives in Euclid. I was just there, about two or three weeks ago, and got one wiper replaced, which he gave me for free since it was around Christmas time. Nice of him.
I should have had the other one replaced too, but I haven't been able to work since July (I had a couple of operations), so I'm on a tight budget, hence just the one wiper replaced.
Well, just like I thought would probably happen, the passenger side shredded up a bit today. 'Wiper on its deathbed.' I was too embarrassed to go back to David's again and without a appointment again, so I went to Walmart, bought a wiper, watched (and rewatched) this informative video...
...and even though that isn't the exact model car I have I actually did it myself, just like the ace mechanic I knew I always was.
It was hard getting the old one off at first, as I think it was stuck, and when I went to put the new one on a part of it popped off ("HEY! THAT'S NOT IN THE VIDEO!"), but I smashed it back on and it went right on. There is a little twist I think you have to do to get it on correctly. I'd have to watch the video again a few times to do it myself again, but now I know I can do it myself. 'Life's little victories.*'
