In the spirit of lightening things up a bit, share 1 thing (or more, if you have more) that was a positive, up lifting thing for you, today. (or tomorrow for those posting tomorrow)

Only positives here, please?

For me:

1. Daughters freshman volleyball team had their first game today. They got man handled by Ottawa Glandorf, (25-12, and 25-16) but it was just doggone neat seeing her playing volleyball again. (3 of our freshman girls have moved up to j.v. (2 girls) and one is starting varsity - so, when your team is missing 3 players, hey.....) And, props to O.G. - they are a good program, and it looks like they'll continue that for a while. Glad they are a division, maybe 2 divisions, higher than us.

Big thing, small thing: One positive or good thing that happened to you, or you experienced today?

My son had his first 7th grade soccer game today. They won 4-3. He played midfield in the first half and goalie in the second half - allowed 1 goal (the opposing player appeared to be offsides but no call according to one of the parents) and saved 6 other shots. He hates midfield, but he can run so the coach always likes to put him there, he much prefers goalie and with his performance today he may get more time in there.

Bad thing was I didn't get to see it as I am out of town for work so I had to get play by play from his mom (along with a few video streams on Skype).

Big things or small things, doesn't matter - it's POSITIVE things.

#2 for me: Wife and I have lost over $8000 in the last couple of days. What's positive about that? It was on paper, and it was money we didn't "earn" in a labor sense, it was money our money earned. Can't lose what you never had.

Today sucked.

Sick of my family always expecting me to visit them when they have never visited me.
Sick of other people who seriously need to get lost.

My dogs are fuzzy and nice to pet. That is the only good thing.

Bella took 2 walks in the preserve near our home today.
Grrrlfriend was chewing up the path!

Pops was getting winded trying to keep up with her.

After seeing this vital, enthusiastic, powerful creature reduced to a paraplegic state not once- but twice- in her life, it was a thrilling experience to watch her attack that hiking path like her life depended on it.

She flushed a doe, 2 juveniles and 2 fawns on our walk, and didn't bolt after them at all. She simply wanted to eat up as much mileage as she could.
She really is like a pro athlete in rehab after a season-ending injury... she can't wait to get back to 100%.

Can a Human Being's soul be inspired by an animal? I'm living proof that the answer is "yes."

Love my Big Baby Girl.

_______________

GREAT idea for a thread. There's enough disagreement, rancor and discord in the world already. Time for pleasant sharing is time well-spent.

Thank you.

Bonus: I made cheese grits last weekend. OMG, the best.

My feet aren't killing me today.

It's a good day.

I have found that good days and bad days often have more to do with our attitudes as much as anything else.

I got to spend Monday evening and Tuesday with my wife, daughter, and son-in-law.

I didn't get killed by any of the idiots on the turn pike who were driving 95 and swerving across all three lanes like they were George Jones.

It wasn't to hot yesterday.

I woke up above ground.

My daughters surgery went great yesterday and she is doing fine.

Oh man this is like shooting fish in a barrel I could go on all day long smile

Awoke this morning to the toilet running and running. Pulled the lid and the internal workings needed to be replaced.

Called the office and they had a repairman here in 5 minutes. I made coffee while he replaced everything in no time.

I offered him coffee and he accepted. He spoke zero English and I speak little Spanish but we smiled and enjoyed our coffee. He made me understand that his boss does the English.

I can really get used to this apartment living. Oh look, they are mowing and trimming the shrubbery.

What a great thread....

My daughter has settled in at college, in a sorority and trying out for pep squad has only overdrawn her checking account twice the first week... LOL

I got 325 pounds off the rack yesterday... still not a legit bench press, ( my shoulder wont let me bring it down all the way) but still psyched to move the weight, being 59 years old.. the young bucks are giving me a wider berth at the gym... hehe.. hey realize I am not just some fat old guy ... I mean I am still fat and old.... like my son says I am just old man strong, whatever the hell that means.

I woke up today... its always a good day when you can lie down and a good night when you can get back up.

I am still coaching youth football and the boys are actually learning the proper technique... great practice last night.

I am truly blessed.

I have to agree with GM. I'm above ground today. Every day is a blessing. My wife, children and grandchildren are safe, sound and healthy. These are the most important things I have to be thankful for. Everything else is optional.

Being negative is easy. Negativity also breeds even more negative thoughts/feelings.

Seeing a positive is often times much harder - but if we work at it, it becomes easier.

Positive people are usually more successful in life, and happier as well.

Got an "old" new client a couple of weeks ago. 96 unit apartment complex I USED to do work for, until the management in Cincy mandated the complex use someone else. The other company just didn't do the work well apparently. So, the manager called a different complex (owned by the same company) and said "Hey, who do you use?"

That manager gave my name. I've done 8 jobs for them in the last few weeks, and in talking to the manager today, she said "I can't believe the quality of your work, your enthusiasm, your flexibility, and the price you charge. We love it!" (the other company was charging $162 for what I do for $100. I'm in and out within an hour, other company took 2 1/2. On a different task, I charge $140, the other company was charging $250. The complex manager showed me the invoices from the other company)

And, the manager of the referring complex was "mandated" to use the other company 2 years ago. So, she did, for about 3 months. She hated them. Told Cincy "I'm done with them, they don't show up on time, or even on the day scheduled, the quality stinks, and they're over priced. I'm going back to "Arch", and she did.

Turns out, some big wig in Cincy was, unbeknownst to the powers that be, an investor in the company he was mandating the complexes use. Weird, isn't it?

Happy guy today. I bust my butt at every job I'm at. 2 years ago, when I lost that 96 unit complex, I was miffed, concerned, and lost some nice income........but I told myself "they'll be back." (just an attempt at a little self boost.) It took longer than I thought, but I got the job back by............doing good work, in an efficient manner, at a fair price.

Today is a good day, and tomorrow will be also. Next month looks really lean right now. Not many jobs lined up at all. Know what? That gives me flexibility for scheduling, and the work WILL come.

Edited to say "that may sound like a brag" post. But, it's the facts. Not patting myself on the back, just saying that good, honest, quality work at a fair price pays off most of the time.

I'm not rich, in dollars. Or common sense? But I'm rich in work ethic, and ability, and blessed to have the job I do.

The kids in my class completed all of their academics and avoided physical confrontations or making staff's life miserable.

That is indeed a VERY positive thing.

Sometimes the work you do, the pride you take in your work and accomplishments, provide their own riches.

Was able to make it into Cleveland for my niece's first birthday.

College football starts one week from tomorrow. (!!!)

Our semi final hockey game is tonight. We were the last place team.

I was able to get Civilization 5 with all the exras for 12 bucks, and will finally have time to play it on Saturday. I have not had more than 30 minutes here and there to myself the last week.

Daughter was a tad disappointed she didn't make j.v. I wasn't. Kept telling her "you are where you need to be. Be positive, enjoy playing freshman v-ball."

So, on the way home from practice today, after telling me about school, homework, a friend that is apparently going through a really tough time and "dad, how do I talk to her?"

She asks me if she can dress j.v. saturday, cause the j.v. coach asked her to for the j.v.'s first game, a tri-match, Saturday.

She might not play a single point, but she was all excited. My plans for saturday got switched, but who cares.

Other positives: the weather has been fantastic this week. PERFECT sleeping weather, and good work weather.

Positive for the day: Originally thought I'd be in a town 15 miles from here for a job, then drive back, do a job, and drive back to the other town for another job.

Left early, even AFTER going to my in-laws house to watch my father in law get loaded into an ambulance. Got the first job done, had time to do the second job in the same town, and finished up in town, on time. Saving me an extra 30 miles of driving.

Oh, and Mr. Pacemaker father in law is fine. At home now. Wasn't his heart.
