Part of the reason I watch College Football is to see future NFL players/stars, especially QBs. There are sites that list top QB prospects such as CBS Sports and Walter Football. Franchise QBs are rare. Often the top rated guys in the draft don't pan out, while lesser known guys (play for small colleges, mature more quickly than anticipated, etc) end up with better NFL careers. With that in mind, here is a quick list of QBs who have impressed me so far (recognizing it is early.) Cooper Rush, Central Michigan Paxton Lynch, Memphis Hayton Moore, Cincinnati (RS Freshman who came in after Gunner Kiel was hurt.) Who else?

This is not true: Bengals - Dalton (second round pick) Ravens - Flacco (first round pick) Steelers - Roethlisberger (first round pick) Browns - Poo Sandwich (who cares) Jaguars - Bortles (first round pick) Texans - Mallett (third round pick) Colts - Luck (first round pick) Titans - Mariota (first round pick) Jets - Fitzpatrick (7th round) Dolphins - Tannehill (first round) Patriots - Brady (sixth) Bills - Taylor (sixth) Chiefs - Smith (first) Broncos - Manning (first) Chargers - Rivers (first) Raiders - Carr (second) Packers - Rodgers (first) Lions - Stafford (first) Vikings - Bridgewater (first) Bears - Cutler (first) Cardinals - Palmer (first) Seahawks - Wilson (third) 49ers - Kaepernick (second) Rams - Foles (third) Falcons - Ryan (first) Buccaneers - Winston (first) Saints - Brees (second) Panthers - Newton (first) Giants - Manning (first) Washington - Cousins (third) Eagles - Bradford (first) Cowboys - Romo (undrafted)

Just taking the first guy on your list, Andy Dalton was the 5th QB taken in the 2011, after Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, and Christian Ponder. I point to Locker, Gabbert, and Ponder as examples of highly rated QBs who didn't pan out.
Later on your list is Tom Brady was taken in the 6th round in 2000 after Chad Pennington, Giovanni Carmazzi, Chris Redman, Tee Martin, Marc Bulger, and Spergon Wynn. He is the poster boy of under-rated QB draft choices.
And the last guy on your list is Tony Romo (another poster boy), who went undrafted. The list of drafted QBs in 2003 are; Carson Palmer, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman, Dave Ragone, Chris Simms, Seneca Wallace, Brian St. Pierre, Drew Henson, Brooks Bollinger, Kliff Kingsbury, Gibron Hamden, and Ken Dorsey.

And Dalton was not a "lesser known player." His team won the Rose Bowl and finished #2 in the country.
So two out of thirty-two.

That's just the 3 guys I took the time to quickly research. And this argument is beside the point...I was looking for other suggestions of QB's not currently highly rated for the draft who are worth watching for NFL potential. You seem to want to argue minutiae for the sake of arguing.

So is Connor Cook just Kirk Cousins 2.0 with more hype? I can't tell.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I just saw the Utah kid had a pretty big day against Oregon. Yahoo lists him as 6'-7", is that correct?

Anybody get to see that Rosen kid from UCLA? He had a couple rough outings before yesterday but this kid is going to be good. He is a true freshman. The only other freshman Qb I was this high on was Andrew Luck.
Whatever year he comes out, he is going to be the #1 overall pick (assuming no major injuries).

And Luck was a redshirt freshman. That game was a coming out party for UCLA. Arizona is a pretty good team.
The Rosen One is a keeper.

Josh Rosen (Fr) UCLA, 6'4"-210, 4G, 964Yd, 7TD, 4Int, 62.5%, .9924 rating
I am realizing the Composite Rating is coming out of HS, not current performance.

Any thoughts from you Pac-12 watchers about Stanford's Kevin Hogan? I've only watched parts of his games, but I was fairly impressed with his abilities, plus he appears to have really good size ... 6-4 or 6-5, about 230lbs. I think Stanford plays a pro style offense, too. He goes to Stanford, the "Harvard of the West", so he must be pretty bright.

He was a potential first overall pick after his first season. He was more of a caretaker than a real game changer at that point. It was assumed that he would be given more responsibilities as he gained more experience (like Luck). In the next two seasons Hogan really underwhelmed. At the end of last season people were calling for him to be benched. He was going through some major personal issues in 2014 (his father died after a long battle with cancer). This season he has looked much better. It is still a small sample, but he has the physical gifts to be a highly ranked QB. And yes, Stanford plays a pro style offense (almost to a fault). That is a major advantage that Hogan has over many other players (like Goff).

I think Chicago out tanks us. Historically bad defense and Cutler is a INT machine. There will be some defensive studs available. I say tank for Bosa.

Collier is the Buckeyes not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4th string QB.
And very good.

okay I'll remember I heard it from you first.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Never really watched Cousins when he played college ball.
However, I have watched Conner Cook play in all his games this year.
Very impressive. Cook is a smart mature pocket passer. His game looks to translate very well to the pros.
Jared Goff is similar. A little slimmer but that will change as he ages. Makes good decisions and is accurate.
I have watched Hackenberg. Hard guy to judge. His OL really stinks. The games I have seen him play it is like OL just collapses when the ball is snapped. He will fall in the draft because his numbers will not be good. He has the skill set there is no doubt.
Cody Kessler has been playing very well putting up big numbers.
These are the four guys that should be watched closely. I want to see more. As the season rolls on I will go much deeper in my breakdown of these guys. Also, will keep an open mind to study more guys.
Manziel has shown improvement but he is no lead pipe cinch.
The Browns really need a OLB supreme pass rusher. Mingo is terrible.
Obviously receiver is another position that needs a playmaker. Bowe, Hartline, Gabriel, Benjamin, Hawkins are not going to scare people. Even with Gordon coming back given his history something needs to happen here. Farmer stance on receivers is just another reason he can not be the guy making draft decisions.

What he's saying is LOOK at all those QB's that were thought of Highly to very highly and have flopped. Yeah, cfrs was arguing something completely different than my point. He was arguing about the draft rankings of the 32 starting QBs, and I was talking about QBs highly rated in the draft who flopped in the NFL, as opposed to (the much more rare) QBs who were not highly ranked or considered, but ended up being productive NFL QB. What I also meant to include were QBs who made late appearances in the pre-draft conversations (like Bortles and Tannehill) who ended up being drafted high and being productive.

I am intrigued by Hayden Moore from Cincinnati. He isn't eligible for the draft, right?
But, I am going to keep my eyes on him. Like his delivery, confidence, and his arm.

I like what I've seen from Hogan this season - well, the 2 games I've seen. Small sample size, but from what I've seen, he's starting to show why he was so highly thought of.
I like Jared Goff too, though I've only seen parts of one game.
Nobody else really stands out to me yet.

I have liked Goff since I saw him play against the Buckeyes his freshman year ...

I still think the best pro prospect QB in college for the 2016 draft is Christain Hackenburg.
Penn State has not had their usual talent level all throughout his college career do to the sanctions the NCAA placed on their program.
Not a great offensive line. Average skill players and Penn State never hit rock bottom because of this QB.
Had the sanctions never happened Penn State would have been a real championship contender with this kid.
He has great size, can make all of the throws. Plays in a pro style offense. Has shown the ability to read defenses, not a runner but has ability to scramble for short yardage first downs/touchdowns. Only knock on him is he holds the ball too long some times and takes sacks. When I watch their games though I do not see WR's getting open. State's offense lacks speed at the play making positions.
His best year was his sophomore year when Allen Robinson was the play maker they lack today.
If the Browns take a QB in next years draft he would be my pick.

Fyi, Cal vs Utah tonight at 10 Great chance to see Goff and Wilson I'm not an expert, but something about Wilson bothers me, his movements are gangly, not fluid. His throwing motion and running style look awkward to me. That said, I can't argue with the results.
