well this series is going to go to 7. If they play like they played tonight we will be watching the finals.

Mike Browns substitutions were awful......

Ah hell with it, I don't even want to get into it

Yup, it says how bad we played the entire game to hold them to that and still lose by as much as we did. Bad O, and some pretty bad officiating again.....actually bad doesn't even begin to describe our O today.

Who is this Lebron James fellow you guys always talk about...cuz he sure wasn't there today.

I was out for most of the first half and when I turned on the tv to TNT, I said aloud, "holy st"! I think it was like 70-50 or more at that point, I really didn't expect that.

I've said it many many time, Brown is almost always clueless, he is a Def. coordinator, nothing more, nothing less. We will not win it all with him at the helm. And the sooner we cut hughes and get a real PG and get a physical presence to replace Z/and or gooden. We will have something, Sasha is still my fav player. I don't understand why when we need scoring we put marshall in and not DJ, who imo, is 100x the shooter "danielle" is. I would have put andy and pollard in to get physical about the middle of 3rd so lay out some hard fouls, instead he leaves dumb and dumber in who give up dunk and after layup after dunk. Lets hope our coach gets a clue come game 6, i honestly think its going to be the nets/bulls in ECF

Wow..they screw the pooch in this game and it's ALL doom & gloom. What's the sense in playing the next two games since it's a forgone conclusion that the Cavs are going to lose the series?(LOL) Gimme a break, the Nets still have to win TWO more games & I don't see that happening...GO CAVS !!!

I want the Cavs to win too, but let's face the facts,....though they'll find a way to win this series, we will be toast against Detroit anyway. And now to see the way Boozer is playing,.... ( he was supposed to be LBJ's Scottie Pippen )combined with losing the chance at Michael Redd,....

My point is, until we get THAT kind of talent, the Cavs aren't going to get to The Finals. Just my opinion.

I agree. I think they'll get past NJ, but not Detroit (if Chicago doesn't knock them off).

Chicago winning that series would be the current Cavs' only chance, and again, that would be because Chicago isn't much more talented than we are.

So, I ask myself, why are they beating Detroit,...hmmnnn.

we never had a chance at michael redd....

i don't think people quite understand that situation... it's the same situation we'll get when lebron is a free agent... milwaukee was allowed an extra 20 million to offer redd, 90 to our 70, roughly... we never had a chance at him, and in 3 years, we'll be able to offer lebron that monster contract that no other team can... the nba is designed so that teams, no matter what market size, can keep their star players that they drafted... that's why kevin garnett is still in minnesota...

as far as the game goes, it was ugly, downright nasty, larry hughes was terrible, drew gooden was nowhere to be found, and we played awful defense in the 2nd and 3rd quarters...

but, i still love the fact that nobody scores on us in the 4th quarter... the cavs are downright amazing in the final 12 minutes of games with that defense, it's the best in the league right now...

I'm sure the Pistons, who were up 3-0 and are now up 3-2, just like we are... and who just got blown out at home, just like we did.. are also in full panic mode and ready to throw in the towel....

The Cavs looked awful, I'm disappointed, but they are still 7-2 in the playoffs.. they need to get off to a much better start in NJ...

Its too bad that some of you just don't get it. Mike Brown had nothing to do with this loss. Is he out there shooting 3-17(Hughes). The coaching stuff cracks me up with some of you. Are you an avid NBA fan? We win on Monday with LBJ scoring 3 points in the 4th quarter on the road and MB gets no credit that his defense which has become our identity won the game. The reason we have improved from last year to this year is our defense and ability to control the tempo. To be honest, NJ beat us at our own game. It was a halfcourt game which is the pace we wanted. We were outexecuted by them on the offensive end from the tip off, bottom line. We won 3 games in this series by playing this style, and to even be within ten points in the fourth quarter of this game was a credit to MB.

thats funny, MB had everything to do with our loss, his substitutions were horrendous, he makes NO adjustments. The only reason we got back into the game in the 4th was the simple fact is NJ was on cruise. A good coach would have made adjustments and it would have never gotten to that point. Bottom line, look at chicago and detroit, detroit pounded them by sheer talent, saunders isn't a great coach, but skiles is, and well, he's figured detroit out and it shows with his adjustments. Frank figured us out, and it shows, Brown is the worst coach currently coaching in the playoffs and it basically comes down to do we have enough talent to overcome superior coaching

Brown's not a very good coach IMO (he's not a very bad one either)...but he didn't cost us the game. Hughes being ice cold cost us the game. LeBron being trigger shy all night cost us. I will say that playing Donyell hurt us.

what happened?

and how can you blame the fans? that was pathetic...

this team needs to learn that you can't go through those 7 minute lapses where you don't even get a shot off, and at the other end, cannot defend the perimeter, that is what constantly kills this team...

look, we still will win this series, and we'll give detroit (sorry folks, but chicago is not beating detroit) a good series, we can beat them, but it will be tough, but this team won't be able to get past the elite teams without a point guard

which is why i believe dan gilbert will be targeting either chauncey billups or mike bibby in the offseason, just be glad we have an owner that will do what it takes to get this team to the top...

mike bibby would be unbelievable on this team... chauncey billups would too, although i can't see him leaving detroit...

We still have two games to get one win. They'll finish it up. This game was a severe wakeup call.

I think the Pistons and Cavs both close out their series in the 6th game.

Well, we've had this discussion on here before, and while you cannot blame the fans for the boos, I am of the opinion that it shows a tremendous lack of class and character to do so. I don't even boo the TV when BombBowski blows a save,...

I usually just hang my head and hope for better days,...

You have to think about how these players feel when you want them to perform, even though you are so pissed off that they make so much money just for playing a game (like I do) . Booing is one of those lines I don't cross.

pistons win in chicago...

gotta win tomorrow boys, detroit is a team that plays better with the more rest they get...

whereas, the cavs seem to struggle with too much rest, i think it's the age thing... the pistons are older, and the cavs are a significantly younger team...

i think it's good for the cavs that this is being played tomorrow, because the nets have age as well...

Cool, glad to hear everything is good. Hows your dad?

The wife is pretty irritated at me too hehe. I was pretty mad after the last game and she says I take things too serious. I told her "When your a fan of Cleveland teams, winning a championship is like a virgin waiting to get laid for the first time. It takes forever and he wants the feeling just one time. I am sick of waiting!"

NBA playoffs
Cavaliers need to capitalize
New Jersey awful at end of Game 5, but so was Cleveland
Friday, May 18, 2007 3:38 AM
By Brian Mahoney and Joe Milicia

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- After the fourth quarter they played in Game 5, the New Jersey Nets were lucky they didn't spend yesterday cleaning out their lockers for the summer.

But even if Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers is just as ugly, that's just fine with the Nets, as long as the result is the same.

"It's all about holding on," Vince Carter said. "It doesn't matter if it's pretty. Right now, it's just get a win."

The Nets cut the Cavaliers' lead in the series to 3-2 with an 83-72 victory in Cleveland. New Jersey dominated the first three quarters, then held on with 12 minutes better suited for a lottery team: 1-of-15 shooting from the field, 4 of 10 on free throws, and six points.

"I thought it was a masterpiece," Nets coach Lawrence Frank said.

The Cavs saw it differently after shooting 33 percent from the field and blowing their first chance to make the conference finals.

"Games like that can make it hard to sleep," Cleveland coach Mike Brown said.

Cleveland wasn't much better in the fourth quarter, failing to take advantage by missing 14 of 17 shots from the field.

"You see it from both teams," Frank said. "When you compete so hard on the defensive end and guys are playing big minutes, it is a mental battle of overcoming fatigue and not settling on the offensive end. Because when guys pick and choose in the playoffs in terms of maximum effort, they're going to give maximum effort on the defensive end.

"So the bottom line is, if you don't score, they don't score."

The Cavaliers didn't practice yesterday, giving them a chance to rest a couple of injuries. LeBron James left the game Wednesday in the final minute with a right knee bruise and laceration but has been cleared to play tonight. Sasha Pavlovic bruised his right wrist in the second quarter and will be re-evaluated today.

James scored only 20 points Wednesday, the second time in the past three games the Nets did a decent job on Cleveland's superstar. Larry Hughes could have had made New Jersey pay for helping off him but was 3 of 17 from the field and scored seven points. He is shooting 33 percent in the series.

"He had some open looks," Brown said. "It's going to be tough for us to win if they're shrinking the floor that way, and not only Larry but some of our other guys have some decent looks and we don't knock them down.

"You can't tell anybody to quit shooting. Their confidence probably is shaken a little bit already. If I tell them to quit shooting, then that's not good."

Last year, the Cavs couldn't finish off Detroit, losing Games 6 and 7 and remaining without a conference finals appearance since 1992.

The playoff-tested Nets believe they're capable of a similar comeback. Carter, Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson all bounced back from terrible outings to play well in Game 5, and if they do so again could force a deciding game in Cleveland on Sunday night.

The Cavs want no part of that.

"We've got to win our next game," Brown said. "That sense of urgency has to be there."

7:05 PM tonight at NJ Go CAVS!

Yep you are totally right on that. My dad is good, he has been going to most of the playoff games. I just wanna win this series so bad tonite so I don't have to waste my weekend worrying about a game 7 on Sunday. My girlfriend is from up in Minnesota so I have tried to explain to her the whole Cleveland sports thing. She is always confident that we will win , and always wonders why I tend to think the negative. I think she is beginning to understand.
