In 3 games plus 1 drive, McCown has thrown for 1203 yards, 6 TD, 1 IND, and has 12 20+ yard pass plays, and 4 40+ yard pass plays.
We seem to be getting better and better passing the ball, instead of regressing. The offense seems to be clicking on all cylinders. We are up to an average of 23.6 points/game, and that is fantastic compared to where we were last year. (18.7 PPG) This is almost a 5 PPG improvement so far this year, and this is even more impressive when you take into consideration the fact that we are not getting turnovers this year like we did last year. I am not saying that McCown is suddenly going to be a Hall of Fame QB, but maybe he might become our Brad Johnson, who takes us to the playoffs.

McCown sure did play not good but great today, but at the end of the day he is still McCown and he will show up and those that are basking in his glow tonight will again curse his existence...
Man I hope I'm wrong and he sure did show up today, caught me totally off guard, but that cat has sucked his whole career.
Hard for me to believe that the plan ain't to tank cause if I was going to run a ship to ground McCown would be my captain.
That said and again guy played great and I enjoyed the victory....
I'm not a McCown fan, but sucked his whole career? Without today's stats added in, he's got a 59.5% completion percentage, has 7 more touchdowns than interceptions and has thrown for an average of 167.6 yards per game as a backup most of that time. I'm sorry but have you been watching the last decade or so of Cleveland Browns quarterbacks? This guy if he plays to his averages is the best QB we've had in ages!
Having said that, I think we need to tear out all the stops to get a QB next year as there appears to be 3-4 that could be average to above average pro's, but McCown has exceeded all expectations and for you to still be baggin' after the last 3 games means you have as much a personal hangup with him as I do with Manziel, but mine looks to be legit while yours is baseless, at least at this point...
I agree "y" . I really don't know much about McCown's team chemistry and history but has he ever been the #1? Has he ever been reinserted as the #1 after injured in a game earlier. The reason I ask is Pettin's confidence in McCown may have been all he needed to excel on a any team he's been with.

I will admit that I had been calling for JFF to start. Not because I think he gives us a better shot to win (and for full disclosure I also did not think McCown gave us a better shot to win, either. I'm not expecting to win much of anything this year) but because I want the team to figure out definitively if he is the future or not, and did not want to put that epiphany off another year, especially since I figured us to be getting a good draft pick (which handing to Farmer is like giving Barney Fife an auto-loading RPG).
I have been pleasantly suprised w McCown, I will give him credit. He has played well these last few games. And we managed to win one of them. However, I don't want to be Johhnny Raincloud. I cannot buy into the view that our offense is "clicking on all cylinders." We are having issues running. If we weren't then we would not have had a QB pass for 300+ yards in 3 straight games for the first time ever. If our running game was clicking, then we would not have thrown the ball 50 times yesterday and had a franchise record in passing yards. We are fortunate that McCown has found lightning in a bottle right now because no one fears our running game.

I want to do it as a Cleveland Brown because that's who I am.”
And I apologize, because I meant the passing game, not offense in general.
The curious thing is that we have so much trouble getting going at the beginning of the game, yet explode in the 2nd half. We seem to be making great halftime adjustments on offense, as we start not only scoring more in the 2nd half, we also seem to get the run game going a bit more.

Hey, if you are going to explode, the 2nd half is the place to do it. Just don't let it be too little too late and we're good to go.

I just wish we'd get going just a little earlier in the games.
I liked the hire of DeFilippo when he was brought aboard, and I think that he has done a nice job working with both QBs so far. There are too many penalties, but the offense is definitely showing improvement in many areas. We do need get it moving before the half though.
