Man, battered dawg syndrome. Addressing this issue is my main theme for tonight, I guess. 1. We've only completed 5 games in a 16-game reg season schedule. 2. We're one game below .500 as we start the 2nd pd. of the season. 3. We're a tie-breaker above a division rival who has owned us for 10 years. 4. We've yet to play our other division rivals... and in divisional play, all bets are off. Is it too much to ask that our fan base embrace the idea that "all is not lost" at this early point of the season?

We have a tough schedule ahead of us, but if you look at the standings in the AFC, a lot of teams are bunched up. All the afc unbeaten teams is good in a way for the rest of us wallowing in mediocrity. There are a lot of games left, why abandon hope already?

Just imagine if the defense starts playing like it did last season, especially with all those turnovers. AND The offense continues to play the way that it has been these past couple games.

Was listening to the Cowboys game on the radio yesterday evening on my way home. Cowboys trying to come back against the Patriots and Weeden's pass to Vince Mayle is intercepted. Boy, when you are left with guys who got cut by the Browns to fuel a comeback, you are in trouble.

Levon Bell reminds me of Ladanian Tomlinson. I hate saying it, but he's an awesome running back. Melvin Gordon on the other hand has yet to impress me. Still very young in his career though.

I kind of thought SD would have a million rush yards on that Steeler defense and a bunch of points...

Phillip Rivers is a genius pre-game. Too bad his talent doesn't match his IQ.

First of all, that was a helmet to helmet hit and the correct call. Second, the league clearly hates the Steelers. That's why they let like forty seconds run off the clock after the touchback.

The Steelers have some INSANE playmakers
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I can't remember so many divisions being "over" this early in the year:
AFC East - New England will win it going away AFC North - Cincinnati looks very good and has a nice cushion AFC South - Indianapolis will win this easily by default AFC West - Denver will win this easily by default
NFC East - The one division where NO ONE has a CLUE what will happen NFC North - Green Bay will win it going away NFC South - Atlanta appears primed. Carolina probably a WC in that poor division. NFC West - Arizona appears primed. Can Seattle regroup for a WC?

so my WAY too early predictions
AFC - New England, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Denver, Pittsburgh (WC), Buffalo (WC) NFC - NY Giants, Green Bay, Atlanta, Arizona, Carolina (WC), Seattle (WC)
AFC Championship - New England over Pittsburgh NFC Championship - Green Bay over Arizona
Super Bowl 50 - New England vs Green Bay

Similar in the sense it was a subjective call late in the game that could have gone either way.
And I think bad calls go against all teams.
However, I think they are slanted in favor of certain teams, particularly those with franchise QBs who are the faces of the NFL.

Levon Bell reminds me of Ladanian Tomlinson. I can see Bell torching our D for 400+ yards this season. Against our elite D, I would feed him the ball until we stop him. Which might not be for a couple of years.

I kind of thought SD would have a million rush yards on that Steeler defense and a bunch of points... All of us thought that. But Pitt drafts extremely well and well the Browns... I swear we could draft defensive line heavy for the next fifty years and still not be able to stop the run.
Congratulations to our 2016 NBA Champion CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!!! Greatest comeback in sports history... Hail to the King!

I swear we could draft defensive line heavy for the next fifty years and still not be able to stop the run. This isn't true and is a popular misconception. A lot of Pitt players don't take off until their third or fourth years. Remember when Decastro was a bust? Plus, their players have the added benefit of coming into a stable situation. Pitt is patient with their players and develops them. They also have a franchise QB which allows the organization to be successful even while these players develop. And also keeps the coaching staff and FO intact.

I personally think Bell and Brown are the best RB and WR in the NFL

I personally think Bell and Brown are the best RB and WR in the NFL I'd also put Roeth at #2 of all QBs, after Rodgers. Incidentally Steelers are hoping Roethlisberger returns Week 8 vs Cinci. We get the Steelers at Pittsburgh two weeks later.

effin steelers. 4 out of 5 teams don't get that free timeout on the Miller catch. Actually, they were robbed of 18 seconds on that drive. NFL clock operator messes up time late in Steelers-Chargers game The Steelers didn't return the ball, a touchback was signaled ... and the clock never stopped.
The clock continued to run the entire time while Michael Vick and the Steelers' offense trotted out on the field.
The box score confirms the 18 seconds magically disappeared. That can ruin any conspiracy theory.
