Meh, you aren't the only person to fight in Iraq. My brother invaded Falujah with the marines. Then he got out and got a degree with the gi bill. Now he has a job working with the govt. He doesn't have any of the issues you have. Regardless of what your brother did I don't appreciate you making light of a wounded combat veterans service.

My point is that not everyone was affected mentally by serving for the military. Not that I blame you, because pstd is horrid. My point is that your views are extreme, and not not neccesarily shared by everyone who served.

If you think Islamic terrorists are somehow comparing to the tea party, then yes, I feel your opinion is extreme.

nowhere did i say dumping tea out in the ocean is like cutting people's heads off. nowhere.
but what i DID say was the tea party could've been considered terrorism back then, as they were a group fighting against the government/monarchy.
i don't see how that's extreme, but whatever.

Looking back at the tea party we view them as patriots rebelling against an oppressive government. The British most likely viewed the tea party as terrorists.

Fact is my brother doesn't go around on message forums rubbing people's nose that he served and is somehow enlightened about the middle east. Fact is he served, got out, and moved on.

i don't rub anything. i simply share an experience so people on this board understand where my point of view comes from. not once have i posted something to receive some sort of sympathy.
and i've told you and others on this board before. take away my military service, i still speak from experience as my family is from the middle east.
i don't seek anybody's approval, as i could care less what you think about me.
but yes, i am enlightened about it. don't like it? there's an ignore feature.

I've known swish online for about 6 years now. Never got the impression that he was rubbing his service in anyone's nose.

Meh, I used to have a boyfriend from Lebanon, and he thought Hezbollah was the greatest thing ever. Point of view might be all and good, but sometimes it's not accurate.

There are only five country's who are not in debt because there are a lot of stupid governments out there. just like there are a lot of stupid people out there. The government needs to stop wasting money and giving away money to other countries, and using money to pay off the entire debt we are in instead of WAISTING money paying interest is not ridiculous bro it's smart. Let's just put it this way, if businesses could run like governments could, they would. Why would a business want to carry insurmountable debt? Because the government has perks and can maneuver their debt a lot better? It surprises me that with so many business majors and leaders that are in Washington, people still don't think they know what they're doing. The government's debt and personal/business debt doesn't work the same. There's a reason why every developed country has debt. Yep, running up massive debt worked so well for Greece, didn't it. The government isn't running up debt because they are smart, they running up debt because they want to get reelected and it's political suicide to say "we can't afford that" There is a difference between spending on what we need and just flat out wasting money.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

I'm curious to see just how much money is wasted that gets collected by the Feds, then given back to the States... seems to me to be cheaper if the States just collected it directly. Cut out the middle man so to speak.

I'm not advocating for outrageous debt, just debt. I do think we have a debt problem currently, but eliminating all of it is doing too much. The money being spent becomes less effective.

devil's advocate comment:
when a group does stand up to corrupt governments, we call them islamic terrorist. Correction, when a group stands up to their own government they are called rebels, when the majority of the population stands against their own government they are revolutionists. When a group stands against another countries government they are called, enemies/terrorists, etc.

The difference between a business and government is that the business uses it's own resources to produce a product or service, which consumers choose to use or buy, and by those means the business produces cash flow for itself.
The government reaches into unwilling peoples pockets to produce cash flow for things most don't need or want.

Context, THat might be tough for some to understand. There is no context presented or to be understood. It is out of date information. It's about as useful as a halftime score.

The government reaches into unwilling peoples pockets to produce cash flow for things most don't need or want. Exactly. Look at what happens when companies with inelastic supply and no regulation.

when a group does stand up to corrupt governments, we call them islamic terrorist. I'll play... We are talking about standing up to YOUR OWN government right? In the US, we have the ability to vote out and in different politicians to represent us, which is how we should deal with corruption... problem is that the corruption runs very deep at the very highest levels and is almost impossible to weed out. In Islamic countries you are typically dealing with governments that cannot be removed by the people any other way than violent overthrow...
