It's funny how people fail to consider the circumstances and see them for what they are. I completely agree.

After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.

Put a premium on penetration. O'Neil will try to outdrop people and we don't cover well without holding. This scheme hasn't worked here. Penetrate more. "Disguise" less. Sneaky fool 'em sets seem idolized and aren't working. Better edge, crash more people and outlaw hanging onto blocks. If we get torched for simpler stuff, so be it. Losses due to academic nonsense like "It worked elsewhere" should be followed with either "Not here" or "Go there then."

Lee Suggs could come out retirement and put up 220 on this run defense. This defense lacks a physical mindset. Its a finese defense. If you are going to have a finesse defense, it better at least be really fast... and we aren't even that.

This is a problem. It happened earlier in the year as well against Oakland in which we gave up a TD on the play.

Look at the defensive set. There was no way we were ever going to stop an outside run.

If you are going to have a finesse defense, it better at least be really fast... and we aren't even that. And the Rams defense was CRAZY fast! I get the parts of the article that talk about the D Line and LB's not making the same reads. It does explain why it almost always seems like they are out of position on run plays. But it doesn't explain why our DB's are consistently playing so far off their man, and much less physical than they were last year. I dunno. I just watch this defense, and I always get the feeling that on any given play our guys are looking for someone else to make the play. They hesitate to tackle, they take bad angles, when they aren't out of position on their own, they are easily blocked out of the play.

Xavier Cooper misses tackle that led to 48 yard Gurley run. Link to Video It was a crappy tackle, but not one HE should have had to make. The two LBers ran themselves right out of the play to their right.

Actually a pretty good play by Cooper... Of course Actually he did miss the tackle...did momentum help the bad tackle? Of course if he got his head on the front side the way tackles are made a different story. Technique missing - is this a product of the new rules and just not enough tackling drills. did Cooper miss some training camp??? Just looking at the total picture.
jmho...there should have been a safety there mopping up what Cooper started. Lack of HATS ON THE BALL!
