fair enough.
would you really be surprised if it happened, though?

i'd get rid of anyone we could on the defensive side, too much investment there.

Can we require someone to take Bowe as part of a package? Just need to get some players who take the field.

Why would they trade Thomas? It makes ZERO sense. Dude has a contract thru 2018 at a very friendly price. He's not played great but who in hell are you replacing him with. Make LESS than zero sense.

I agree JT loves Cleveland, he is also a perennial pro bowl player on the downside of his career, so love or not he might want to play in the playoffs.

Let me amend that.... if they trade him and that doesn't mean the end of Farmer then I give up. There's no hope.

He wants to stay with the Browns. That's what I'm saying. Every time Thomas has a chance, he talks about how much he wants to stay with the team. He does not want to go to a contender, that would not be doing him a favor.

Yahoo is at it now: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdo...-160344959.html10 NFL trades we’d like to see happen before Tuesday’s deadline Alex Mack to the Seahawks The Cleveland Browns play hard for their head coach, Mike Pettine, but are still stuck in the hamster wheel. One team initiative has been to build up the offensive line, but what has that gotten them? We say trade one asset in Mack, a gifted center, that is an attractive trade chip for a few reasons. One, he’s still young (turning 30 in a few weeks) and financially flexible (zero guaranteed dollars past this season) to earn attention. The Seahawks watched sub-par center Drew Nowak go down against the Dallas Cowboys and now find themselves in a bad OL situation, even though Russell Wilson wasn’t sacked Sunday for the first time in forever. We think a mid-round pick would get it done. The Browns could shift Joel Bitonio over to center in the long term if they want or finally get first-round pick Cam Erving into the starting lineup in Mack’s place. Barkevious Mingo (or Paul Kruger) to the Giants Another Browns deal that makes sense for both sides. Mingo, the former top-10 pick, has been a bust to date. With only 134 snaps in eight games, he needs to go elsewhere to find a home or risk being washed out of the league in a few years. Mingo just turned 25 and could be used creatively by a coordinator such as Steve Spagnuolo, whose goal is to be able to send pressure in as many ways as possible. The problem? Even with JPP coming back, the Giants lack any kind of chess pieces to achieve that. If Mingo is not their flavor, Kruger, 29, also could be had for relatively cheap. He has far less upside but might come cheaper, and though Spagnuolo was on the Ravens staff a year after Kruger left for the Browns, he likely could lean on his former coworkers there for a recommendation if needed. (Another option might be the Bears' Willie Young, who is desperate to go to a 4-3 team.) The Giants have a shot at the division and need pass-rush help. Badly. I think I could get on board with either of these ideas.

I think I could get on board with either of these ideas. I'm not sure how Mingo would fit in there in New York, then again... I'm not sure where he'd fit in at all. He's just a cover linebacker. Perhaps a 4-3 team would risk snagging him up only to get disappointed while putting him at DE cause he lacks any type of strength, power or ability to move people around. But if we could get something, then I'm okay with it. Not serving much here.

i know firesale is on everyone's mind, but let's ask this question. Do we think there's opportunity to improve our roster short term with some trades? Maybe a receiver with size? pass rusher? NFL caliber linebacker which we have none outside of an aging dansby. Maybe safety help.. Funny that seattle would want mack when they had a much better center in Unger that didn't value enough.

49'ers just traded Vernon Davis to the Bronco's. Terms not disclosed.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

j/c... Joe Thomas to the Broncos? Sure hope not. Joe Thomas Trade Rumors: Latest News, Speculation on Browns LT's Future By Tyler Conway , Featured Columnist Joe Thomas has been linked to a potential trade as the team sits at 2-6 heading into Week 9, a move that would send their longest-tenured star out of town. Broncos Reportedly Inquire on Thomas Monday, Nov. 2 Vic Lombardi of CBS 4 reported the team has looked into acquiring Thomas after Ty Sambrailo was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
Thomas Deal Would Signal More Rebuilding in Cleveland Thomas, 30, has spent each of his first nine seasons with Cleveland after being taken No. 3 overall in 2007. An eight-time Pro Bowler, he has never missed a game and has maintained a reputation as perhaps the NFL's best tackle despite the Browns' revolving door at quarterback. Pro Football Focus grades Thomas as the best tackle through the season's first seven weeks, putting him significantly ahead of the Dallas Cowboys' Tyron Smith. That the Browns would consider moving a consistent star like Thomas is curious. They haven't made the playoffs since 2002 and have maneuvered in recent seasons to become instantly competitive. It just hasn't worked. They're five games behind the Cincinnati Bengals in the loss column and are likely headed for their eighth straight losing season. Thomas has three more seasons remaining on his contract after 2015 but has no dead money attached. If the Browns don't feel they can compete anytime soon and Thomas can net them a series of draft picks, then maybe now's the right time to move. But any trade of Thomas would signal to fans that Cleveland has no interest in competing for the rest of 2015 and perhaps 2016. Link

Link As great as Joe has been for us, I'd think that in rebuilding mode we take multiple picks to include a 1st round next year in a trade. Joe is getting older and it works out for him as well. I highly respect the man and he deserves a legitimate shot at a ring. We all know for certain that is not going to happen in Cleveland within whats left of Thomas' career.

If we are stupid enough to trade Joe, Denver would be the best option, they are desperate right now knowing this is probably their last shot for awhile since peyton probably done. I wouldn't do it without a minimum of Clady, Barrett and a first

j/c: People are freaking nuts!!!! I said in another thread how the team that trades the vet always gets ripped off in the NFL. Vernon Davis and a 7th for two 6th rounders...........Really? And you guys wanna trade Joe so Farmer can blow more freaking picks. It's so freaking ignorant that I can't even fathom it, except for the fact that I know Farmer is in charge and I wouldn't put anything past this guy!!!!

Does Alex Mack for Jimmy Graham make sense to anyone?
Mack might wave the trade clause to go to a contender, and Graham doesn't fit their scheme very well. Their contract numbers are about the same.
It would let us play Barnidge as a true Y TE and move Graham to the F role.
We would get another receiving threat and get something for Mack rather than nothing when he leaves next year.
I'm not sold myself, but it's something.

I find it funny that writers from the national media would think it is a great idea to trade your best players to a team that is loaded making a playoff push, because it would be good for your team. How? Is what I would like to know.
This team only has a few good players, trading any of them is freaking foolish.
They want us to trade away our talent and say that that will make the team better, frigging idiots.
If this regime trades anybody, besides Mack, it would be the end of a building process. Mack is going to leave, if he is willing to break his trade clause I think you do it. If you don't he will leave at the end of the year and we will get nothing.
When you build, you keep the good parts. Rid yourself of players not contributing. Mingo, comes to mind.
I personally think Haden wants out. I have no proof, but his last couple interviews and some of his tweets seem to suggest to me, he's had enough of Cleveland.

He is a FA at the end of the year. SF gets something and Denver might actually get more in a Compensatory pick than they are giving away.

Tear down the team every year instead of building upon what we have. No wonder we never win.
