clutch....honestly the refs were`nt giving Lebron a freakin chance.............
its has alot to do with lebron being gun shy, he didn't make an attempt to show the refs he was the aggressor. he would just dribble for 23 seconds and then take a 22ft fade away off 1 foot behind the back board with 4 people on him..<----------true story

No, but you post on a message board to exchange ideas, or to share experiences with people of a similar interests. Your post was whining and degrading. Perhaps you have a different idea of what these boards are for (ala Jim Rome), but that isn't the general purpose of an online community. Anyhow, game 2, Thursday... pretty much a must-win for the Cavs.
Speaking of which, in Windhorst's column today in the ABJ, he mentioned the reason for the odd scheduling was that the NBA didn't want their games going up against American Idol. That annoys me. I'm sure it could help the ratings a little, but it just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Y'all need to quit whining about the refs.. this is the playoffs. Bumps don't get called as quick, and the charity fouls don't happen as much... LeBron should know this in his 5th playoff series... He just wasn't being aggressive and it showed.
Congrats to Z on a great game, shame it was wasted.

I don't care what you think.
Then why post on a message board?
Tayshaun is the best defender, again IMO, on that team. He was even with LeBron with inside position with two other defenders coming with help. LeBron hadn't gotten a call all night (literally). Why should he try to force a shot up in that situation (not even considering the free throw troubles that LeBron has had this season). Donyell was coming off a hot game, had an open shot in the spot where he tends to be the most comfortable. Plus, on the road, I go for the win in that situation. If there is a two there that is open, great. However, I draw that play up for the win, like Brown did. It was a well designed play that played out to perfection, only the shot didn't fall. I'm far from happy with this game, it was there for the Cavs to take, but that play was executed really well from every angle I have seen.
it reminded me of any one of the teams that had robert horry...
it didn't work, we lost the game, but ya move on, and come back thursday and fight again...
but i can't stress enough that lebron has to come out on thursday and get those whistles...
he cannot play thursday's game with the mentality he had late on tonight... if he attacks early and often, the refs will give him calls...
i'm glad mike brown is our coach though, because he will not panic, and he will keep this team sticking to their defense...
i'm excited for thursday... we've been great after a loss in these playoffs... playing 48 strong minutes should give this team great confidence... and if you can grab thursday's game, you get to come home and battle with the crowd on your side...

I don't care what the refs were doing. I've seen LeBron make that exact shot against pretty much anyone in the NBA.
I really think Arenas was right. LeBron doesn't want to take game winners. I seen the overhead angle and Lebron had Tashaun beat no doubt about it in my mind.
thats what i am saying, i've seen lebron get wrapped up by MEN and still make the shot around the rim, prince is a mere boy

Agree 110%. Last year when Rodman talked of coming out of retirement, I wanted him, I didn't 1 point from him, I wanted 6 fouls and some bloody noses...
But...you have to make your free throws....and the problem of the year, is the problem of this game.

dwyane wade got every little bump last year... i believe he set a finals record for going to the free throw line...
lebron won't attack if he's going to get screwed like that on calls... it's hard enough when they load up in the paint...
lebron didn't attack enough as everyone wanted for that reason... the cavs lose by more if he keeps doing that and not getting calls... he did what he had to do to keep his team in the game...
if you drive to the lane when they're loaded up like that, and you don't get whistles, then you're essentially taking low percentage shots...

my post was an opinion, not whining because you say so. bottom line is, don't respond to it..simple as that. As far as scheduling with American Idol, who cares, like any cleveland sports fan would watch 2 no talent having duds over something that hasn't been done in 15 years, i think the NBA don't give basketball fans enough credit. I mean seriously. Do they think the people that watch american idol fit into the same demographics as people that watch playoffs. Here's what it is...Guys in the living room watching playoffs, wives and GF's in bedroom watching american idol..

I'm more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.. but in a 7 game series against a better, more experienced team, they had a chance to steal one tonight on the road and failed... they aren't going to get many opportunities like this..
And LeBron is 22, playing in his first ever Eastern Conference Finals game, and he had a full days rest... I'm not buying that he was tired.. He's been playing on back to back nights, and one days rest all year... and you're telling me that just NOW it's afftecting him?

american idol is really weak...
yeah i agree, the basketball watching crowd is not quite the same as the american idol watching crowd... that's basically women
besides, if you don't have a dvr box or tivo, you're really missing out...
i'll sit for 20 minutes once a week, and go through the digital tv guide and pick out all the shows i want to record...

This game wasn't too bad. Bottom line---If Donyell hits that 3 we win. We stayed close and lost in the end, and thats what happens--you win some you lose some. Its not the end of the world---hell, its not even the end of the series. We just need to come out and play our game next week. We go out and compete, and try to get a win. Keep it close and no ones in position to complain.
its not like we are the Bulls---getting blown out in game in and game out.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

that's how i'm thinking, i'm not as mad as i thought i would be had you told me that the cavs lost...
most people expected a blowout, but the cavs dominated for most of that game...
lebron james is a great player though, and i know he's not going to score just 10 points in game 2
there is one thing that i love, and that's the defense...
when this team gets a legitimate point guard, they could own the east...
we won 3 less games than the pistons, without the benefit of a true floor general...
lebron should call deron williams every night, and get him to pull a boozer...

To win this series is a very simple formula. Make your open look threes. The defense can't triples team LBJ when we knock down open shots. Then....make more than 11 of 17 at the line. If they shoot free throws like the Washington series, we win. Simple formula. Detroit didn't break 80 freeking points. You should win with 90% of that defensive effort. Mike Brown's love for defense is compromising this particular series. Low scores favor Detroit. Put in some shooters for some time. Take some threes EARLY in the game to test the waters. This is a 180 degree concept to Brown, but one needs to adapt.

Yes I think they are more demanding.. so if he was getting more shots blocked... or if his 3's were hitting the front of the rim.. yea, I could blame that on being tired and not having his legs.. but he was standing still... It's not that he was moving slower, it's that he wasn't moving at all. And he didn't attempt a single 3, so I can't know if he would have made it or not...
If nothing else, he showed on that final play of the game that he COULD get past Prince... and he COULD get to the rim... if he needed to..
Do you realize that at the start of the second half, when the Pistons took the lead, that the first 5 times down the court LeBron touched the ball 1 time.. and that was to dribble it across halfcourt and not get it back? Not one time did he touch the ball with a chance to do anything... and that's when we went from up 6 to down 3... I blame everybody for that.. Mike Brown for not calling a play to get him the ball, the rest of the team for not recognizing that LeBron HAS to touch the ball when the other team is on a run.. and LeBron himself for not coming out and making sure he got a touch...

i agree with you completely...
i love mike brown's gameplan, i love the defense, the cavaliers' d right now is championship level...
but... the cavs need to take better 3's... it seems like they'll jack one up if a team gets a bit of a lead on them... i want to see a better mix of inside/outside... when you get momentum, and you're getting stops, and easy buckets, take a 3 to really hurt them... that's what detroit did, they didn't take many 3's to get themselves back in the game, not nearly as many as they did to try and extend leads... they're so great with their perimeter game...
if you look at the first half of the game, the cavs, with the exception of the last 2 minutes of the half, were mixing it up with going quick in the shot clock, and using up most of the shot clock... it was great to watch, they had a really good flow going...
and another thing i noticed, detroit, without ben wallace, doesn't try and trap so much when you take the ball out of bounds, i don't know how many times last year in the series against them where they'd press you so hard on the way to halfcourt, that by the time you were past the time line, you had under 15 seconds left... maybe it's the fact that they respect us more than they did last year, or maybe they're really not the great defensive team they used to be...
had we knocked down some of those open looks, and lebron got some of those whistles, i bet the entire sports world is coming hard down on that detroit defense...

LeBron also took ZERO 3-pointers.. was he not getting the calls out there either? What about the times he got the ball on the low block and the double team didn't come and he passed it off? I'm sorry, I saw a lot more than a small handful of no-calls, which lead me to believe that, for whatever reason, LeBrons head just wasn't in this game.

we shouldn't be arguing or fighting, we're all rooting for the same team here...
everyone is entitled to their own opinion...
if soup thinks the cavs are going to lose by 20 every night and get swept, that's his opinion...
but me and him are still rooting for the same team in the end...
this game got me excited because i know this is going to be a great series... the cavs are not going to go away without a fight...

i can't argue with the 3 pointers... he should have taken at least 3-4...
but lebron is too smart of a player to just force the issue... yeah, he could try and get the calls, but he clearly wasn't getting them, so why keep doing it? you only have 48 minutes to win this game... this isn't a football game where you have all that time... lebron did what he had to do to keep his team in the game, if he keeps forcing the issue, and the whistle doesn't blow, than we probably aren't even in the game in the 4th...
but i do believe he is going to come out and change that, because he's a great player... have faith...
but yes, your star player has to take 3's... lebron is a better 3 point shooter than we give him credit for...
i just think that the league may look at this game and realize that the star player should be getting borderline calls...

LBJ started this late in the NJ series. He didn't shoot the 3s and got passive times.
This game was so winnable its sickening. Its like losing 6 to 3 in a football game. Detroit was horrible and won. Our star was non-existant and we SHOULD have won without him. This is one of those that will "haunt you."
To think we will have another sub 80 game and be in it is wrong. Should have booked it; Detroit won't be this bad again.

We're still friends man but I don't want a couple wins.. I want FOUR wins.... Evidently I'm just more PO'd than some of you..... sorry, I can't be happy with a 3-point loss.. not in a game like that. We have 4 games in Detroit, we need to win one, and that's if we hold serve at home... Likely we might need to win 2....
And I don't know that we're going to get another chance where Billups has 5 points midway through the 4th and we hold the whole team under 80...
I just think the Cavs had a golden opportunity tonight and blew it... and those opportunities aren't going to come often against an experienced team like the Pistons...

I totally agree....Detroit has been the team all along to win this Championship.....Unforntuatlly....The pissons played bad and so did the Cavs.....Lets see how the next game is played...If both teams play good and we win...Then there`s that chance....And if the pissons win then thats expected

yeah, but will detroit get another chance at lebron only scoring ten.. that works both ways...
i'm not getting that mad about it, because there is no sense in doing so, we lost the game and there isn't anything you can do about it...
i agree that we've really gotta get game 2... detroit is undefeated in their playoff history when they go up 2-0. they've never blown a 2 game lead...
doesn't mean that it can't happen, because they almost blew that series last year...
the cavs are better than they were last year, and the pistons aren't as good as they were last year, so i expect close games...
i think it's my goalie mentality, when i give up a goal, i'm already thinking about how to stop the next shot, it's a closer's mentality in baseball...
had detroit lost that game, don't think they wouldn't have come out in game 2 and really brought it... and dropping a game one at home is a hell of a lot worse than dropping a game one on the road...

Just clicking DC....
How the **** is anyone complaining about the zebras tonight? LeBron made it pretty easy on the officials. When you shoot 12 fade away jumpers, you're not going to get foul calls. It's a pretty simple concept.
Can all this LeBron is the next Jordan talk stop now? Michael could have played left handed and had more of an impact in this game. LeBron is the most passive superstar in the league, maybe in the history of planet earth, when the game is on the line.
Anyone who would rather have Marshall shoot a 22 footer for a win as opposed to LeBron shoot a 2 footer for a tie needs to get their brain checked. Untill LBJ starts being accoutable, we'll continue to come up short. JMHO.

throughout the entire game, there were about 5 or 6 times down the court where lebron was hammered going up for a shot, or going to the rim and the ref didn't make a call
which led to him taking those fade away jumpers...
i'm not trying to say that the refs blew this game, but they sure as hell missed quite a few calls...
we'e gotta knock down open shots, and that's what i'm sticking this game on...

I guess I don't get why the majority of Cavs fans think LeBron is above taking criticism. He's the reason we lost this game, period.
We get 22 and 13 from Z, 13 and 7 from Hughes, 13 and 7 from AV and 10 freakin points from LBJ? On 5 of 15 shooting and ZERO FT attempts? We're not going to get 48 points and 27 rebounds from those three guys again and we can't even get a win when we do? LeBron just doesn't seem to have "it." There's 25+ players in the NBA I would rather have take a last second shot......or for that matter make a decision when the game is on the line.

that's fine... but i disagree...
lebron is a great closer..
i mean, there has to be a reason that detroit is throwing three guys at lebron most of the game... if he didn't have "it", they probably wouldn't be doing that...
i'm telling you, it's the rest of this team knocking down open shots, lebron is not going to be able to do what he does until detroit respects his teammates and stops throwing 2 and 3 guys at him
and when you're driving to the basket and not getting whistles? what are you supposed to do?
lebron's not going to sit there and stick a square peg in a round hole, he did what he had to do to keep his team in the game
but now, it's up to him to change that, it's a brand new game on thursday, and he has to attack
i don't think lebron is above criticism, i've been all over him many times this season...

How is LeBron a great closer? He's something like 3 for 25 on game winning shot opprtunities? The rest of the team gave LeBron 66 (of 76) points in one of the slowest half court contests of the season. They also gave him 17 offensive rebounds. AV gave us 13 and 8 off the bench and Z gave us 22 and 13. What else could the supporting cast have done besides win the game single handedly? 10 points on 5 of 15 just isn't getting it done.....especially when you pass up the game tying layup to pass to an ice cold role player off the bench.

Just when I thought I knew how to say stuff,... Quote:
I just think the Cavs had a golden opportunity tonight and blew it... and those opportunities aren't going to come often against an experienced team like the Pistons...
IF there has ever been a proverbial "dagger" in a Game One in a seven game series, last night was it.

that has worked in the past with this team before (damon jones)
donyell just came off a great game in new jersey too
and i don't know where you get that stat of 3 for 25 in game winning opportunities, i believe someone in the broadcast crew brought up a stat last year, in the final two minutes of games within 5 points, nobody had a better scoring average than lebron...
and once again, it's tough to close when you've got 3 guys on you at all times....

Man I wish I was on here last night to get in this discussion.
To whoever said Lebron is "worn out" give me a freakin break.
If he is worn out, then we might as well call it off now. The kid is a 22 year old man beast playing in the biggest series of his life. He gets paid to do this and have his body in peak physical condistion, worn out? Come on.
As for last night, yeah we can look back and point to a lot of different reasons on why we lost that game (free throw shooting, FG%, Lebron not attacking) But the fact is in the first half Lebron didnt attack and we were in the lead comfortably the whole half, and in the second half it was back and forth. We walked into the Palace in the Eastern Conference Finals and played a great TEAM that has been there 5 straight years and were one shot from walking out victors. All you can ask for is a chance to win that game.
Like it or not, we are the underdogs, we havent been here in 15 years and the Pistons have been here for the last 5!!! We busted there ass all game and gave ourselves a chance to win. Unfortunately the ball didnt bounce our way on that shot, but we proved we belong.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out what we are doing wrong, or what we should have done. As sports fans, thats what we do and why we watch. But I am sooooo sick of this Cleveland attitude. Woe is me and everytime we lose everyone sucks and everyone wants to win now now now now.
I am frustrated that we lost last night, but I am even more frustrated reading threads like this.
Go Cavs in game 2, boo American Idol, hooray Cleveland sports right now.
Eat it Phil...

I agree too. I thought it was the right call. Things are always easier the day after to look and 2nd guess. At the time I asked my wife, "What would you do, go for the tie, or go for the win?" I say "WIN!" If MArshall makes that everyone says "LBJ! GREAT PASS!" Fact is LBJ had a bad game. The refs were letting them play. It made a statement saying we want it! We need to come out in Game 2 just as physical and attack. We need one up there. We HAVE to win this next game! GO CAVS! BTW, Friken Z baby,,wow!
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!

Sounds like it was a great game! Z played huge when I did watch..(I was watching the Finale of 24) Lebron with only 10??? They must've had some good D on King James. TIME TO STEP UP! GO CAVS!! If we get Game 2, and then roll into Cleveland with the series tied, I think we have a VERY GOOD chance of advancing.
