Jim Caldwell was asked for a comment, but he just stared blankly into the distance (this is all he knows how to do).

I can never remember a year where all these changes were made before before the 2nd half of the season. Its insane.

I listened to the Chuck Pagano presser and I really thought of Oneil and this defense in his description as to why a change was made. I feel Chud was the right move in Indy. i think after this week, it may be the right time to make a change here at DC. There just isnt improvement in areas that we wanted to improve in the offseason. Also the use of our personnel is mind boggling.

Winds of change are blowing. Pet would be wise to sacrifice his DC before he gets his head on the block as well.

I'll never understand throwing someone you hand picked under the bus to save your job... especially when it may not actually save your job...

Anyway, regarding Detroit, they play the games on the field, not in the office. I'm sure they have a back up for the GM and as for the Pres, well, like I said, they play the games on the field.

There are rumors that Pagano didn't let Chud seek other employment this off-season because he had an inkling he would have to sacrifice Pep Hamilton.

I am just glad the Lions didn't fire Jim Bob Cooter (yet), we need him in our life.

Daman head coaches hire their buddy into positions they sometimes just arent good at. Mo Carthon was Romeo's friend and hire. Romeo was forced to fire him and then hired Chud who was fantastic for us. It is about sacrificing but it is also necessary at times as well as the correct move.

If we cannot draft a QB in the draft next year, we need to target Mattew Stafford. He is not exciting, but he is very talented and would easily be the best QB we've had since 1999.

I don't think that's fair to Stafford. The Lions and then the Browns QB? Cruel and unusual punishment.

Plus, Stafford is below-average-to-average without Calvin Johnson roaming the secondary. No thanks.

I'd rather throw Manziel to the wolves for the rest of the year to see what we have and then take a QB with our first or second round picks if he implodes.

Second round pick. No problem. He'd have to restructure his contract though.

In the end, the Lions will probably release him (if they are going to move on from him).

The move is always to not restructure to force the team's hand.

Well signing bonus doesn't concern us...but yeah that base salary close to doubles next year...and 2017 would be the last.

I don't think there would be much competition for him. They would want a chance for Connor Cook probably.

I would trust Farmer's decision on it... tongue

lol laugh

Stafford has much arm talent as any qb in the league. He has dazzled scouts, coaches, and teammates at times in his career. He has also put up some extremely gaudy numbers in the past w/lots of yards and TDs.

The problem w/him is that doesn't protect the ball. He is a bit of a loose cannon. He's erratic. Not much discipline. And he hasn't gotten it done in the clutch.

There will be a lot of interest in him if he becomes available. It would be similar to when Denver put Cutler on the market. His physical talents make GMs drool.

honest question, whats their line like compared to ours?

could some of his TO's be cut down if he had our line?

I'm certainly not a QB guru, but have watched the game for well over 4 decades.

Drawing on only my opinion, I would say no.

A young guy is a little different. Easier to transform and teach in many cases. But a veteran who has a lot of experience in the league it's far more difficult. Patterns and habits are much more engrained as a part of his game.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but the odds are drastically reduced.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Much like Cutler, he's got a million dollar arm and a $.10 head.

If we had Cutler the past few years, we'd be better, but we wouldn't have gone anywhere with him. He's a QB you get when you're tired of winning only 3 games a year and winning 7 will make you happy. If your goal is to win in the playoffs, Cutler isn't your man and neither is Stafford, IMO.

Yeah we wouldn't want a QB like Stafford. Two or three years ago he threw for over 4000 yards. Close to 5000 I believe. Nope. We want Johnny. He beats up women and drinks like a fish. MUCH more important skills in Cleveland than actually playing the position.

I'd KILL for a QB with Staffords skill here in Cleveland. He's still young and he's better than any QB this team has had in decades. Won't happen though. So rest easy, no QB for the Browns. Happy days.

I would give them two first round picks for Stafford. IDGAF about first round picks with this team anymore. He would instantly be the best QB we've had since Bernie.

If my name is Jim Caldwell, I am cancelling any big home improvement projects ..... and instead investing in packing boxes ...... because he's not long for Detroit.

It was crazy that they hired Caldwell in the first place. He was the head coach of a team (the 2011 Colts) that was so bad that people think they were tanking games.

I don't know, Swhish. I really haven't watched much of Detroit this year. I watched them against Minni, but pretty much only watched the recording of when Minni was on offense.

I watched some of the Denver game, but I really don't remember.

Sorry.

didn't he get them to the playoffs last year?

i'd certainly keep him. he would get way more of a leash than pettine would.

#Browns owner Jimmy Haslam spent 45 minutes talking to Josh McCown on the field at 30-yard line. Pettine cut in and now it's Jimmy and Mike

bye mike

I agree. I remember during camp O'Neil talking about how we were going to go to "graduate level" schemes with this defense. LOL

So you're saying Pettine may love him and continually cite his toughness, or dislike him and continually cite his erraticism?

I would too, but Stafford is such a loser. Million dollar arm, 10 cent "want to".

Having said that, I would as well. Be the best QB we've had since the return. You get him and hope you can coach him up to his potential.
