and watching the post game comments, Marshall just said the best thing ever:

"Pettine was complaining that manziel was getting out the pocket, yet he was making plays out the pocket? is this about winning football games, or making the QB the way you feel a QB should play?"

like some of us been saying, square peg, round hole.

That's two weeks in a row that we've gotten absolutely crushed in the second half.

Remember when we used to keep games competitive?

This is going to get real ugly.

yeah why would you tailor the offense to your QB's strength, not to mention make use of smaller faster receivers..like i said..time to blow it up...I dislike this staff more than anyone we've had outside of maybe shurmer

No one can be worse than Shurmur. It's not possible. But our ceiling is four wins.

I think what bothers me the most about this team is this fact:


There is literally NOTHING to build on for next year.

A few weeks ago I was on the fence for letting Pet go...not any more. Our D just looks confused and uninspired...Week after week we ask "why did we stop [fill in the blank], or question some clock or timeout mismanagement...I think it is clear that we need the discipline and coaching of a strong and disciplined coach that makes improvement - even small ones - week over week..

Can we just have Martha Ford go through our offices and fire people? Just hire her to just fire our people.

Spot on. The second Pettine said this at the half, it immediately confirmed to me what a loser he is as a HC.

And Josh Gordon.

Pettine has been worse than Shurmur this year. By far.

He's approaching Mangini year 1 level.

I compared him to Mangini week 1. There is nothing to be proud of or hang our hats on.

We're not tough.

We're not smart.

We're not disciplined.

We're not talented.

We're not really young anymore.

We don't have any franchise players besides Joe.

We don't have a young QB that we want to develop.

I don't know. I just think Shurmur was just straight up dumb. I think Pettine is just hard headed (which also makes him dumb, just a different type of dumb).

When we needed a competent guy we brought in Holmy and he really started to sink the ship and now Farmer has finished the job. This franchise is so far away from winning... where do you start in a total rebuild?

Yeah. Shurmur was kinda "herp derp" run around in circles kind of dumb. Mike is "I'm gonna ram my head against a wall 100 times" type of dumb.

Six one way, half a dozen the other.

Lack of second half adjustment, or poor ones, either way it is on the COACHES!

All I know is that whatever high pick we get I don't want Farmer picking it nor Pettiness coaching it....want both of these guys gone......take Alec Shiener with you. This framing or is a joke.

The front office. Everyone from the President/GM down as well as the coaching staff must be on the same page; they have to have the same vision and goal. Otherwise it doesn't work at all.

I can no longer support this coaching staff. Our D looks so out of position and confused it's ridiculous. The scheme is a joke, we got burnt on a third and long early in the first half cause we had a D lineman dropping into coverage on a WR??? 53 yards rushing in the first half, what like 10 in the second? How many rushing attempts the second half? I bet I could count on one hand. Duke Johnson had a good first half recieving, where the hell did he go? Do they bench players that are producing? Our recievers are stiffs that can't catch when it matters, man I would love to have guys like Green and Sanu. I bet you could put McCown or Manziel in Dalton's place and they would not miss a beat. Totally frustrated...end rant.

I think this says it all. Pettine is all about doing it his way or the highway it now seems. This is a problem. I hope Haslam was watching the post game.

Pettine is dumb, Farmer is dumb too. The real problem is that they are both woefully arrogant so they are not gonna change anything because THEY are right. They have surrounded themselves with bafoons like O'neil and DePhillipo so that makes them the smartest guys in the room..scary isn't it.

The Browns OC has potential, I don't know if I get rid of him unless I know the person replacing him is a definite upgrade.

I think it's all moot.

I think next year we will have a new GM, new HC, new coordinators, and new QB.

The new GM and HC will report to Scheiner.

Funny they keep saying it must be off the field stuff and not play, which is why Pet does not like to use Johnny...

I don't know if this is good or bad, but anything is better than what we have now.

If you're going to get a new GM and HC, you need a new president too. You need everyone to be on the same page.

Not if the President is part of the hiring process.

He's a pass happy dink and dump guy who doesn't like to run the ball. The only coach on this staff I would keep is Tabor, special teams is solid.

Hmmm, disagree with you on that one. Playcalling has sucked for the most part.

Passing wise, hasn't been terrible. Running the ball however...no comment.

And THAT will be a HUGE mistake. If a football guy isn't overseeing the football operation, there is ZERO hope. That is a fact.

Odd, I thought this was one of the better games we've played. If the rest of the team had played that complete of a game with McCown back there, we'd likely have won.

I'm not saying that Manziel played terribly, in fact, I thought he did some nice things as an athlete but as has been pointed out over and over and over again, you can't win by playing backyard football every down.

If you guys can't see that's what Pettine was ssying then I don't know what to tell you.

I thought the refs swallowed their whistles for the most part and only blew them in the most egregious situations, which was fine, but did seem to favor the Bengals. Our run defense wasn't great but we all know our linebackers are slow and until we fix that we're going to struggle and despite that, it wasn't a horrible effort. Our secondary really needs some time to build some continuity. I think Williams is the only one of those guys who's seen significant, consistent action due to the injuries all those guys are getting.

All in all, we lost to a better team, but that was not nearly the embarrassment I expected and although my opinion on Manziel has not changed in terms of his potential as an NFL quarterback, I don't blame that loss on him, we just got beat, it happens.
