I don't think anybody outside the top 9 at this point has any real chance..
Of the top 9.. Michigan State plays Ohio State, winner will play Iowa, only 1 of the 3 will emerge with a chance. Oklahoma will play Oklahoma State, loser is out. Florida will play Alabama, loser is out..
So 9 just became 5 just based on the games left to play. And when I say "loser is out" that is predicated on nothing else unexpected happening, like Clemson losing... and if Notre Dame loses, which is possible, then one of those teams I said is out, still might have a chance even with another loss.

Being honest, if Clemson loses, I can see OSU jumping to the #1 seed if they win out.

1. Clemson vs 4. Oklahoma 2. Alabama vs 3. Ohio State
Being honest, if Clemson loses, I can see OSU jumping to the #1 seed if they win out. IF Ohio State wins out, I have a feeling they will be #1, for the sole reason they will most likely want a Ohio State vs Alabama Title game instead of playoff game. Not to mention if that happens Ohio State will finish up with 3 ranked opponents. Two of which are right now top 10, which will make that justification that much easier.

Winning a power 5 conference outright was a big deal last year. It's Stanfords biggest advantage. They also play Notre Dame.

Crazy how a few weeks ago I listed the teams that will get in would be the winners of select games. After TCU, Baylor, and MSU went down, now everything could get really crazy.
I still feel like the B1G will get a team in, although if MSU emerges as the champion, it won't be a sure thing..
The SEC should be safe with the winner of a likely Alabama/Florida SEC title game. I've been underwhelmed by the SEC this year, but the voters still love them, and I think that sells the conference to the committee...
I think Notre Dame is good, but I don't think they are the second best 1-loss team. I'd put Oklahoma above them. Also, Oklahoma State hasn't lost a game and has a win in the top 25, I don't understand how ND is above them.. I've been telling people here, especially Notre Dame fans that I can see them being left out because they will be at home watching TV while the other suitors for the playoff are in conference championship games. If they finish just outside of the final four, they will be a full time member of the ACC next year. They are already partial members in football and full members in basketball and other sports. Being independent allows them flexibility in scheduling, which helps recruiting, but I can see a huge push for being in a conference when they get left out because of the lack of an extra game.
The Pac-12 looks like it will be left out.
The way things are going it seems like you may have 2 undefeated teams and a mad scramble for 2 spots from several 1 loss teams, which will cause arguments for an 8 team tournament, but I really like the way this is set up now. I think there's just no room for any more games. If you go any further back, you are going into NFL playoff territory. If you go later, I just wonder how fans will travel with a week or two until Christmas, which is a huge traveling season for people. To ask a fanbase to travel for a conf championship, and 3 playoff games is really pushing it...

How will Mich end up top 10 if they lose to OSU?
They would have 3 losses and not even have a shot at getting to the B1G title game for redemption.
just curious.

I think there were 2 different thoughts in the post you replied to. 1. Michigan could end up in the top 10 (if they win out) 2. If the bucks win out, their resume would look better than bama or clemson. That's how I read it.

Yeah, maybe that was the intended message and I read it wrong. Certainly if Mich wins out they could be top 10 but if the Bucks lose to them, they have NO SHOT at being in the top 4. But if the Bucks win, Mich has little chance of being in the top 10.
I don't think any team can lose this late and be considered one of the 4 best teams. This is why Alabama is ranked so high even though they lost AT HOME to a marginal Ole Miss team. It was early in the season and they are playing lights out right now. Same as the Bucks losing early last year and finishing strong.
Any loss this late in the season means you aren't playing your best and...it's over.
I kind of like that teams have to pass the eyeball test to be in the top 4.

If OSU wins and Michigan wins this week then next week when OSU plays them Michigan could be a top 10 team next week. If Iowa wins out, they will be top 10 in the B1G Title game. So in theory, OSU, IF they win out, could do it against three top 10 teams.

I know everyone will say no. And I don't think it will happen.
But would you consider for the playoffs a 2 Loss Big Ten Champion Michigan team that beats a Top 4 OSU and Top 5 Iowa team in consecutive weeks?
Especially when you consider they "should" be a 1 loss team?

If they had beat Sparty, no doubt they'd be in, but it's going to be dicey.

If the BCS Computers were in charge, they'd have no shot.. because a Computer just sees "Lost to MSU"
I can hope that if it comes down to it, they would consider them just based on the eye test of that game.. It was over.. UM had won.. And then the unthinkable happened..
Ugh. I feel sick.

don't worry about all that bro.
you won't be winning any games against OSU anytime soon for any of that to matter.

When I read nobody out of that top 9 has a chance, I immediately looked back at where were Michigan, and LSU.

If the Buckeyes lose to MSU and ScUM, don't the Spartons play Iowa for the Championship. Who does Sparty play next week. Oh I'll just wait and see.
I just had the most horrible thought. What if Iowa Hawkeyes won the NC, having never played Ohio State, who have beaten them about a hundred times in my lifetime. Iowa isn't a top 4 team, can we all just agree on that. Phew, wipes brow.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Bama's win over LSU is looking worse and worse.

Meyer should have never replaced Cardale Jones with Barrett. Barrett ran the offense better vs lesser talent because of his legs but against better talent like Bama, Oregon, and Mich State the arm of Jones opened the run lanes for Elliot. Without the threat of the pass the run lanes were not there.

Wasn't able to watch a lot of games this year or last, but wasn't Barret throwing well last year?

I was thinking OSU had an outside shot to make the playoffs if ND, Oklahoma, and OK St all lost last night ... unfortunately it didn't work out that way
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Excellent tackle breaker and sets up the defenders for his cuts. My main worry with him is the huge amount of touches he's getting in college. Gonna be a lot of wear on those tires by 2017.

I think a player that McCaffrey compares favorable to is Duke Johnson.
