Good. I'm sick of the small samples.
Here's your chance Johnny.

Good. Now call the game in a way that plays to his strengths while he continues to work on his pocket passing.

6 games left, Manziel in at QB playing for his and his HC/GM future, Farmer's and Pettine's jobs officially on the line now or more like "life support".
Anything less than 3-3 and nobody of them will keep their jobs.
Good luck, Johnny.

There was no other decision to make. Just wish we could have seen more before the team quit but truthfully, I believe they quit in preseason.

This is a win-win, really. We already have the worst record in the league, and if Johnny falls flat o his face, we draft the best QB. If he wins a few games and proves moving forward with, were still probably in the top 10 and could get a pretty good player.... ....cue "NOT IF FARMER IS THE GM!!!".

This is just my opinion, but this may be just the first "young guy" domino to fall.
More Gilbert, Erving, Orchard, Cooper. Hell, maybe Mingo will see some more time rushing the passer w/ Kruger's lack of effectiveness.

It pretty much is that time of the season, so it wouldn't be surprising at all. It's sad that it isn't even Thanksgiving and we're at this point, but that's not too far from normal for us. As small injuries happen after the Bye Week, we'll start seeing more and more starters head to IR to begin their offseasons/vacations.

I feel Joshua Gordon situation is coming. He'll look good, play good, get everyone hyped up - then do something stupid/immature off the field.
I do support giving him the reigns though, just hope he matures up and doesn't let us down if he displays some ability to QB. JMO

I'm not surprised by this.... but I am all for it. Let's see what the kid has and move on from there. I'm sure the next coaching and front office staff will have plenty of film to evaluate his talent level.

Sure hope he doesn't get killed behind the rookie LG that's now being blamed by the geniuses around here for all the oline issues this year.

I mean, if they don't/can't get it, then for sure what many of us think of Farmer will have been proven out. Still, I'm a Browns Fan, and as such, I want them to win out and improve to 8-8.

Once we were like 2-5 there was no decision other than this IMO ... we have to evaluate him to see how we approach March/April.
A final record of 2-14 and 4-12 is of little meaning in terms of keeping Pettine's job anyways
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Not much on conspiracy. Anyway, could it be that Haslam has said, Let Johnny play in order to see what we have. Maybe because he knows he's cleaning house after the season and wants the next regime to know what they have. Maybe he wants the next GM and HC to have film on Johnny so they can make an intelligent decision. Anyone else think that's a possibility?

Good. The sooner he is exposed as either a non-franchise QB or decent trade pickup the better.
I have zero faith in him staying in Cleveland.

What changed? We have been out of for weeks now, why now? Manziel seemed to improve from the Bengal game to the Steeler game. So are we saying that Manziel improves with game action? If so, why hasn't he been starting since the second we knew we were out of it?
I am happy about this decision, that does not mean there are no questions.

Orchard has already been playing some significant playing time (I think he has had the most snaps out of any of our outside linebackers the last few weeks). Cooper has been terrible in limited time he has played. Gilbert and Erving need to play. Same with Campbell. We need them to gain game experience so that we are not doing this idiot dance next season.

Manziel is going to play well enough that we either won't get the #1 pick or he will convince the decision makers (with his play) that we don't need to pick a QB. The QB we don't pick will become the next Aaron Rodgers. Manziel will end up being a false hope.
Mark it down.

If Pettine actually takes Haslam for his word well then that's all I need to know about Pettine. Yeah, I understand what your saying. But it might be a case where Haslam was disappointed in Johnny's behavior, and felt he did't want that type of player representing his team. Between Pilot J and JM, Haslam was more than likely fed up with bad press. Now that JM has turned the corner.. Jimmy may feel that it's okay to represent his team. And honestly, I wouldn't blame them.

Well, it's about that time of the year for all our qbs to get hurt and we end up getting blown-off by likes of Rex Grossman and Jason Campbell.

here's my gut feeling: Jimmy has ensured Pettine that he'll still be our coach next year.
Farmer will be the one fired.
For those that say "A new GM will want his own coach" are probably correct; however, Kuharchick will probably be named our new GM and has probably already OK'd Pettine.

So we replace one dog turd GM with another? I think I'd rather have Pettine be GM and coach than hiring a new GM without going through a real interview process (and I think that having Pettine do both is a horrible idea). Knocking down the walls doesn't do anybody any good if the foundation is bad as well.

At this point, I'm honestly hoping Haslam comes out and says he takes over GM duties, because basically, he already is. This way at least we save ourselves from all the backstabbing between FO, HC and owner.
Since Haslam took over, the Browns pretend to be run by some sort of "consensus", bu it's BS. There's been no big decision without Jimmy's yay or nay, so come out and say that you run the team. This way, he can take all the PR crap for assembling a no talent roster and maybe THEN in a couple of season or so, he realizes that he's the problem. Fat chance with an ego like Jimmy, who has made a living of having "fall guys" around him, I know, but that's the only hope I got. That or the NFL takes the Browns away from him.
Whatever happened to the rebate scandal thing? I haven't kept up with it. Can someone please give me a recap of how he made it out of it without further damage?

I am happy about this decision, that does not mean there are no questions. Haslem wanted fans in the seats and a good rating for MNF. Johnny's picture on the 'bus' would be like icing on the cake.
