You're the one that says we need to take care of Americans first.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Yes. Good job taking what I said out of context, though.
When I say we should be taking care of America first, I mean it. I don't want us in the Middle East anymore. That doesn't mean we can't help people escape from that life.

First of all, I don't recall saying you generalized anything.
Second, I don't hate them, didn't say that they all are like the ones I'm concerned about (guess that would be Third on the list).
Again, how many people did it take to turn our world upside down? 19. They were all here legally.
What was it, 7 or 8 people in France? How many lives have they destroyed? HOW MANY?
Do I hate them? No.
Do I trust them? I'm sure most of them could be, but I DON'T KNOW THAT! Therefore I'd rather err on the SIDE OF CAUTION before something horrible happens and more lives are destroyed!
Like I said before, it's not like we're basing our concerns on circumstances made up out of thin air.
and I'll ask again, Which of those who are lost can you bring back?
You're not actinhg on the side of caution. You're acting paranoid. One of the deadliest terrorist attacks on this country was done by a white male. Does that mean that we need to isolate all white males because they're a risk to society? Of course not. That's ridiculous. However, that's what many people in the GOP are saying about Muslims. It's just not right.

Well then, lets ask America... FOX News Poll: Majorities say call it 'radical Islam,' oppose Syrian refugees Most American voters believe Islamic terrorists will strike the U.S. soon. A Fox News national poll released Sunday also finds Democrats and Republicans united against President Obama’s plan to accept Syrian refugees -- as most voters think at least one will be a terrorist who will launch a successful attack here. Here are five findings on the war against terrorism. Voters feel: -- The U.S. is at war with radical Islam, and Democrats who refuse to call the enemy by that name are doing the wrong thing. -- Obama has not fought the war against ISIS aggressively enough, and that war is going badly. -- Terrorism is now the top problem facing the country, and an attack is likely soon. -- Bringing Syrian refugees into the U.S. is a bad idea, and a religious test would be shameful. -- Closing Gitmo is wrong, and Obama should not side step Congress to do so. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/11/...l?intcmp=hplnws

A majority of Americans believe in global warming and legalization of pot. Good thing this country isn't majority rule though Sometimes we need our leaders to lead.

I think some of you are just daydreaming with your heads in the clouds.
Poor, poor Syrians could never hurt anyone and are sooo safe to let them into our country.
Here are a few facts: 1: Syrian has been a training ground for terrorists for a VERY long time. 2: Syrians are well versed and trained into the concept of a sleeper cell. For those of you that don't know what that is it is where they train people to PRETEND to be good citizens until the are activated to attack whether its 1 year or 50 years. 3: Syria and in general its people HATE the USA.
My opinion is that it is sheer stupidity to invite the citizens of a country that hates our country to come and live here. I mean do you seriously think that ISIS or one of the many other terrorists groups in Syria is not trying to smuggle or sneak in some of their sleeper agents in with the people seeking asylum? Seriously?
Lets take care of Americans first for once.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

When does the inner-city start taking care of their-selves? Exactly. At what point do the "oppressed" in the inner city look in the mirror and say "it may not be easy, but I have the opportunity, and have been given the means to move myself up in this country, I just need to do it." But instead, it's "oh, drugs, crime, single parent households, we don't have a chance we just need more money and you should give it to us cause it's not fair"

So from whom do I need to take my country back? Some real wing nuts out there running for president. I assume all have been vetted, screened, abetted, etc. Just a lot of posturing, hypocrisy, and hyperbole.
If a candidate drops, can't command the numbers, is that a referendum on and rejection of that candidate's statements and views? Because we are losing touch with what needs celebrated as American in my opinion.

You can't win the argument with reason so you attach your 'label' to whomever it is you are arguing with. Be it 'racist', 'chauvinist' or whatever 'ist' you wanna attach. Yer pro life? No you hate and want to control women. You want people to be accountable for themselves and not be a drain on public money? No you're a rich white racist who has no compassion. Ya know what I think! I think all you lefties like to spend other peoples money, suck babies brains out of the backs of their skulls with no responsibility and reward laziness! Have I missed anything? I'm not paranoid-please tell me what the Tsarnaev victims are, the 9/11 families are! The potential victims of the foiled bomb plot at an unnamed shopping mall here in Central Ohio! NO ONE SAID BAN THEM PERMANENTLY!!!!!!!!!!! NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN YOU READ?!!!!!???????!!!!!!!!!!We just want to make sure no one else dies due to a lack of diligence!

Yes. I'm very well aware that you want them properly vetted. However, do you A) Have any regulations on what "properly vetted" means or should mean and B) are you aware of the U.S.'s vetting system actually is? Because it sounds like you don't. It sounds like you're paranoid because you're not making any real substantiate points. But also, probably because you're paranoid

Dave and Razor said straight up they don't want them here.
Oldcold isn't sure.
Eve has been dancing around the issue. Seems like she leaning toward no.
That alone just invalidated your rant. So yea, people have said they don't want them here.
And that's looking at the first 5 pages of this bread.

You are right..I got called a racist or a bigot yesterday because I said I don't really care about the orphaned 5 year old refugee..it is Syria's problem.
I said I care about the orphaned 5 year old American..Syrian one not so much.
Same time I read that post I was watching the you tube video of the 10 or 12 year old isis kid blowing the brains out of people lined up on a river bank.
I hope they move to your house to the guy who said I was a racist and a bigot.

this is confusing.
you're one of the biggest complainers about family units and the importance of a father in the household, but then you turn around and advocate splitting up families.
Well, you are correct about the family unit and my thoughts. However, the one and only thing I am advocating for is the safety of American families with regard to my post. If safety of Americans comes at the expense of splitting up other refugee families, then so be it. Sometimes you need to prioritize your values. This is one of them. It would be their choice to come to this country and deal with the acceptable choices of Americans. By the way, nice observation!

So, it's clear you didn't consider that splitting up families could make things worse?
Either you're for the family unit or you're not. I could see if you were talking about single male Syrians. Then sure. But you're not.

See my post and definition of vetting earlier. With Syria being a non existent country, please tell us where we would get the reliable information upon which to base the vetting by the government. Oh, by the way, the government that lies to us all the time as it is. Yeah...right!

By that logic, we shouldn't be allowing anybody from any country to come here.

Ted said nobody was saying not to bring them here.
I disproved his statement. You're not part of the group saying no, you're part of the group exercising caution.

By that logic, we shouldn't be allowing anybody from any country to come here. Not really, governments have databases to access and people to converse with (how old fashioned). Syria currently does not because the terrorists have destroyed the country.

Sorry about their luck where they was born..but that is their problem. I wish I was born to parents who was billionares..

But you just said you can't trust the government.
We've had Russian spies come brought our immigration process with no red flags.
We have Chinese and Japanese people come through our immigration process legally, yet we have triads and yakuza operating in the states.
I don't see you advocating caution with those groups.
