I'm with you on being so pissed. But I tired myself out posting earlier. Plus, you're making the right points and speaking much better than I can right now.

I've never in all my years being a Browns fan felt this bad. I mean, I felt really bad when they cut Bernie but even with that I didn't feel the organization as a whole was lost and clueless. Johnny was not 'my boy' for instance but what they just did to him is beyond my ability to understand.

He gets demoted not to back up but all the way to 3rd string for doing nothing wrong.

I'm really curious to hear what some of the players have to say. I know Dansby did say, "He's a prisoner of his fame."

I'd like to hear from some of the others. Especially the ones who were out drinking the same nights as Johnny partied.

There are people who agree with the move. There are people who disagree with the move. And so goes the circus in Berea.

Maybe freaking management should worry more about texting the sidelines during games?

Perhaps they should be worried about the distraction of talking about trading their best players during the season?

Perhaps management should be concerned w/running off the best coach on the staff due to their meddling?

Perhaps management should be more concerned w/blowing a crap-load of high draft picks in their first two years?

Perhaps management should have kept their younger talent and not have replaced them w/old guys?

Perhaps management should have treated Gipson fairly and not given Bowe way more money than Gipson wanted?

Perhaps freaking management should not make dumb-ass comments like turning a 6th round qb who can't throw from Auburn into revolutionizing the game?

Perhaps management should not raise season ticket prices by as much as up to 40 per cent when their team sucks?

Perhaps management should be more concerned w/their own ineptness than a 22 year old guy having some freaking drinks during a FREAKING BYE WEEK????

Perhaps Manziel should just not be a liar.

Oh yeah, because that trumps that whole list Vers wrote.

That whole list is more harmful to the organization than anything Johnny could do and yet, he did nothing.

So now, even though that entire list is the example of not being held accountable to the organization, those very same people who have committed all those franchise killing infractions are suddenly going to screw over a 22 year old player for essentially having done nothing illegal on the grounds that he needs to be held accountable?

Somebody had better get real quick.

I'm with the both of you. I've already sent multiple e-mails to my ticket rep that have been "forwarded to management". I also left a voice mail.

As I've cooled down a bit over the past several hours, all that I can think about is that there better be a whole lot more to this than him going out on his week off. If there isn't I hope Haslam has the wherewithal to just move on sooner rather than later. Pettine is a douche in my book at this point.

Oh thanks, Barnie. I now understand why he was benched.

Wait! What? Did you say he under age? I thought he was 22?

Oh, I'm a little slow, but I get you now. You're saying that we drafted him in the first round knowing that he had been arrested, but just now chose to bench him because of it.

Awesome analysis, Barnie.

Be sure to keep that gun holstered.

The world is coming to an end when i agree with just about everything vers is saying.

There was supposed to be a meeting between Pet and Haslam in the bye week- I wonder if the meeting didn't go well, and now Pet just decided to sink the Browns and not play Johnny. No point in preparing Manziel for next year, and the next head coach.

This really ticks me off. Manziel being stupid, Pet for being arogant, Farmer for drafting him, ... it just goes on and on.

It is sad when our discussions are we should have drafted Teddy, or we should have drafted Carr. I a Vike fan as well, can't help it living in MN, and i'll be the first to admit that Teddy is not all that. Carr is surprising me, i didn't think he could read a defense at Fresno. Always thought Manziel was a boom or a big bust. But he hasn't even had the chance on the field. And what we have seen this year is light years improved. Now because of a champange bottle on a video he is benched to third string??? Just idiocy. I would like to see what we have in Manziel, then we will know what to do our top five pick. We all will know, Farmer, not so much..... and the saga continues.

Manziel before the bye:

"I let him know that I'm not going to do anything that's going to be a distraction to this team or be an embarrassment to the organization," Manziel said. "I don't think they're going to have to worry about me this week."

If our bosses told us we couldn't do legal stuff outside of work I'm pretty sure there would be massive stories about the ill-wills of big business and how they are infringing on the rights of workers outside of the office. How could they?!? The news networks would be buzzing.

Now, there are occasions where businesses have said no smoking, even when not at work, but I do not agree with that either. I think smokers should pay more for benefits because of this, but not be told they can't smoke.

That is probably the best point made since the news broke.

Maybe there is a lot more and we just haven't heard it yet. Perhaps JM did get arrested for a DUI or raped two co-eds?

Good point.

I'm guessing, as any sane person would think, that going to a bar would not be a distraction. I would certainly not think going out and having some drinks at a bar would be a distraction, apparently it is.

The funny thing is, by benching him it has turned into a rather large distraction now. I hate that I love this team. I really, really do.

Wow Barnie..........you can post pictures. You are so cool.

Here is the truth.............none of us knows what type of rehab JM went into. The poster I responded to said he was in "alcohol rehab."

Now Barnie..............who can't handle the truth?

just makes it all the more upsetting- doesn't it. They knew what they were drafting. So deal with it. That draft sucked. Gilbert and Johnny. that sucks.... Set this franchise back years.

Another excellent point. The same people who drafted him now are mad about the partying. I'm sure we'll have the usual suspects chime in that Haslam drafted him - no one knows if that is true or not. I also have to say that "partying" has certainly changed to a much more tame version of what I used to call partying if the pictures I saw are considered to be an insane party!

Going to a bar and having a drink is one thing. Going to a club and standing on the stage with the DJ with a giant bottle of champagne is another.

It was all in the same breath that Bowe is looking great, Justin has improved dramatically and is focused (yet he still rides the bottom end depth chart) and how we keep losing, but we're "improving" and I could go on and on but to make it short - the man just talks because he is forced to. I don't believe he means half the crap he spills.

Oh the humanity!!!! He actually stood on a stage with a DJ? With a HUGE bottle of champagne? How was he not arrested?!? The NFL needs to investigate! I've totally changed my mind about this now, what a horrible human being.

Agreed. Get him out of here...along with Pettine and Farmer. We need a break from the circus.

Or........the other take:

He finally figured out what it took to be a pro after he was cut by Cleveland.

You know............the Bill Belichick argument, like the guy actually magically learned how to coach the very moment he left the Browns. rolleyes

I still fail to see the distraction. It was made into on IMO.

I don't particularly want him either, but I would like to see what he has as far as QB abilities go - it is just smart business to do so. I honestly cannot believe I am one of the people defending him as I really don't care for the guy, but people are being totally irrational. It is mind boggling to me.

Here's my thing about this.

Manziel is a young punk. Period. He needs to grow up. Okay.

BUT., If all he did was get his picture posted on social media for drinking which may or may not have violated any written or gentleman's agreement he has with the team/Pettine....

Fine him!!! Don't bench him?!?

How does that saying go? "You play to win the game?"

Play the best player. You don't jeopardize the development of this team to prove a point! If he is not ready to start because of how he practices/performs then fine. He sits. If he out-practices or performs then the next guy then fine, he plays.

This whole thing shows just how inept this organization is. (If Shanahan leaving wasn't a clue enough!)
