Semifinalists for Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2016 class
NFL.com
Published: Nov. 24, 2015 at 07:58 p.m. Updated: Nov. 24, 2015 at 10:30 p.m.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2016 was trimmed down to 25 on Tuesday during NFL Network's Gold Jacket Semifinalists special.

Hall of Fame voting

The original field of 108 nominees and these selections will be cut to 15 in early January. The group of semifinalists includes 22 players and three coaches, with 15 players on offense alone. Two of the biggest names are in their first year of eligibility: Brett Favre and Terrell Owens. Favre is certain to be a first-ballot choice, while T.O. will be one of the more fascinating case studies in recent history. The third player in his first year of eligibility, Alan Fancea, also has a real chance to make it to Canton.

The Class of 2016 then will be selected on Jan. 31 from the list of 15 modern-era finalists plus three senior nominees. The 2016 Senior Finalists are Ken Stabler (QB with Oakland Raiders, Houston Oilers, New Orleans Saints) and Dick Stanfel (Guard with Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins).

Former Broncos running back (and current NFL Network analyst) Terrell Davis and former Rams linebacker Kevin Greene have made the semifinalist list ten times, the most of any of the nominees. Marvin Harrison, Tony Dungy, Don Coryell, and Ty Law are also among the most fascinating names that will be debated in January.

A look at the complete list is below, and NFL Media's Elliot Harrison ranks the 25 players right here:

1) Morten Andersen, K -- New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings (Times as a Semifinalist: 4)

2) Steve Atwater, S -- Denver Broncos, New York Jets (times as a semifinalist: 5)

3) Tony Boselli, T -- Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans (times as a semifinalist: 1)

4) Isaac Bruce, WR -- Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers (times as a semifinalist: 2)

5) Don Coryell, Coach -- St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Chargers (times as a semifinalist: 8)

6) Roger Craig, RB -- San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Raiders, Minnesota Vikings (times as a semifinalist: 8)

7) Terrell Davis, RB -- Denver Broncos (times as a semifinalist: 10)

8) Tony Dungy, Coach -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts (times as a semifinalist: 3)

9) Alan Faneca, G -- Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals (times as a semifinalist: 1)

10) Brett Favre, QB -- Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings (times as a semifinalist: 1)
11) Kevin Greene, LB/DE -- Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers (times as a semifinalist: 10)
12) Marvin Harrison, WR -- Indianapolis Colts (times as a semifinalist: 3)
13) Torry Holt, WR -- St. Louis Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars (times as a semifinalist: 2)
14) Joe Jacoby, T -- Washington Redskins (times as a semifinalist: 6)
15) Edgerrin James, RB -- Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks (times as a semifinalist: 2)

16) Jimmy Johnson, Coach -- Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins (times as a semifinalist: 3)
17) Mike Kenn, T -- Atlanta Falcons (times as a semifinalist: 2)
18) Ty Law, CB -- New England Patriots, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos (times as a semifinalist: 2)

19) John Lynch, FS -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos (times as a semifinalist: 4)
20) Kevin Mawae, C/G -- Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans (times as a semifinalist: 2)

21) Karl Mecklenburg, LB -- Denver Broncos (times as a semifinalist: 5)

22) Sam Mills, LB -- New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers (times as a semifinalist: 1)

23) Terrell Owens, WR -- San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals (times as a semifinalist: 1)

24) Orlando Pace, T -- St. Louis Rams, Chicago Bears (times as a semifinalist: 2)

25) Kurt Warner, QB -- St. Louis Rams, New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals (times as a semifinalist: 2)

Visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame's website for more information on the 2016 nominees. Who do you think should be in the Hall?

Farve - 1st Ballot no brainer

Don Coryell - The Paul Brown of his time.

Marvin Harrison - It's close between him and Owens, but I give Marvin the nod.

Orlando Pace - Should have been 1st ballot.

Morten Andersen- Played better than Stenerud who is already in.

Kevin Greene- Finally gets in.

Brett Farve,Orlando Pace,Joe Jacoby,Don Coryell, both Sr finalists. Guess whoever is our representative on nominating committee sure does not push to hard for any of our deserving Browns,oh well maybe Clay,Gary,Jim Ray,Dick S hopefully get enshrined as Senior finalists. Sr nominees should be increased as many deserving are neglected due to very short nominated list.

They pretty much all deserve it, but given the type of guy Owens was and the kind of Chaos he caused, for me, he should be the least likely.

E. James .. without a doubt, deserves to be in
Mecklenburg .. one of the best LBers to play the game
Orlando Pace .. should have made it in on his first try
T Owens .. one of the best ever.. thinks he can still play.. just ask him

They left out Clay Matthews so as far as I care they can shove the rest of them up their ass, since he deserves to be in the HOF.

I will just plug Morton Andersen. Kickers need some love every once in a while, and that guy was money for a long time.

Most candidates need to be debated in the finalist round of 15 for several years before they are elected. It's far from over for him.

May be far from over, but definitely OVER DUE also.

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM

Total BS that he's not one of the 15.

Don Coryell should be a shoe-in. He invented the rout trees for receivers and his teams were fun to watch. All of the current talk about qb's going through their progressions can be traced back to him.

This is a great class....

QB Brett Favre, WR Marvin Harrison, OT Orlando Pace, LB Kevin Greene and coach Tony Dungy were elected among the modern-day candidates. QB Ken Stabler and OL Dick Stanfel were elected from the senior committee, and ex-49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo was elected as a contributor.

Awesome...Big O makes it. I hope the uniform he wears in has St. Louis written somewhere.

Not a St. Louis Rams fan, but NFL did the city wrong. Obvious they were moving to LA but spitting on city who made an effort...sad.

I don't think it's a great class.

Orlando Pace was a great, great player. Maybe the most dominant LT of all-time. Hard to say that because there have been some great ones, but he is right there.

I would absolutely take Harrison over TO.

Greene? He put up some big numbers, but I don't see him as a HOFer.

Dungy is okay. I wouldn't scoff at him like some others are.

Stabler's numbers weren't great, but the guy was deadly when it counted.

I never even heard of Stanfel.

DeBartolo???? Isn't he a crook?

Farve deserved to get in, but he is a guy I just can't stand. I'm sure he'll try to make this like he is the only guy getting in this year. Cam reminds me of Farve because "it's all about me."

Hey, maybe that is why TO did not get in........the stage would not be big enough to have both Farve's and TO's ego on it.

TO was a true snub. and they did that one on purpose. Guarantee his personality rubbed people the wrong way.

I didn't care for the guy, but dude was one of the most electrifying WR's to play for quite some time. He earned first ballot. His work ethic goes unquestioned.

Assuming I'm picking 5......
1) Pace
2) Holt
3) Favre
4) Dungy
5) TO

This is real hard though with
Kurt Warner & Ty Law being held out.

Alan Faneca, Kevin Mawae, & Marvin Harrison were very very good players too

Agreed.

TO was a better player and Marvin might have killed someone.

I have no issue with Tony Dungy getting in, he's had a major impact on a lot of people and paved the way for a lot of coaches. BUT Harrison over TO is just not right. Not when it comes to play, that's for sure.

And for goodness sake, a gun registered to Marvin Harrison more than likely killed someone
