So today i went to see The Good Dinosaur with my kids. Man, what a emotional rollercoaster. really good family movie.
And it had me thinking about all the tear jerkers i've ever seen.
how bout you guys name some.
The big Dinosaur Marley and Me The Lion King eh....yea i cried during Titanic. The Notebook The Green Mile
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
I accept movies for what they are, actors acting, so I rarely get too emotional over them.
Everytime that scene in Saving Private Ryan comes, the one where Tom Hanks is crying and checking to see if any of his soldiers witnessed it, just gets me everytime. Eyes get all watered up until a few tears rumble down the old cheek.
Just a powerful scene carried out by, IMO, one of the best actors of all time.
Just about every Browns season review I've seen since 99.
Thats not even a tear jerker. thats how we get alcohol poisoning and bite the dust like Edgar allen Poe.

Quick reply before I lay down for a bit..good topic.
Passion of the Christ without a doubt..watched one time and couldn't finish the second time.
Pursuit of Happyness..what a story.
Hidalgo..not a tear jerker and don't understand why i got emotional at the last or 30 min or so of the movie..I still say to myself while watching RUN HIDALGO RUN!!
I'm not wired that way..to crie at movies that is..but just off of the top of my head these came to mind.
When John Wayne died in THE SHOOTIST (1976) When John Wayne died in THE COWBOYS (1972) When John Wayne died in THE ALAMO (1960) When John Wayne died in SANDS OF IWO JIMA (1949) When John Wayne died in THE RED WITCH (1949) When John Wayne died in THE FIGHTING SEABEES (1944) When John Wayne died in REAP THE WILD WIND (1942)
Saving Private Ryan, at the very end, when they show the (now) old James Ryan, and he says to his daughter, "Tell me I have led a good life." "Tell me I'm a good man."
Man, that breaks me up every time.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
i can't help my cry like somebody killed my dog everytime i see that movie.

Imitation of Life. Old school movie on racism and racial identity. Where she cries out, "Mama!" Yikes.
The Children's Hour. Shirley Maclaine and Audrey Hepburn. Such a tense flick.
Other than that, the only thing that's got me of late is this show me and my fiance' have been watching called Chasing Life. Mid 20's ambitious reporter finds out she has leukemia. Too many moments. We might not even be able to finish it. Got me thinking way too much about death.
Politicians are puppets, y'all. Let's get Geppetto!

My wife watches that show..when she misses it, its freaking dvr'd. God bless you man if you think anything is tear jerking about that show...after here husband dies of cancer of course..I couldnt take a second more of it.
Now i see it come on I just kind of linger away to where my wife doesnt notice..hopefully..and go clean my guns or clip my toe nails anything to not watch it.
Thinking about death can be good..it can make you do all sorts of things you wouldnt normally do..something as simple as to start posting on a message board..or taking time out for things that are not normal for you to do.
Bambi and Old Yeller. I saw them when I was 5 or 6 years old and I remember being inconsolable when Bambi's mother was killed by the hunter, and when Old Yeller had to be put down. I still hate it when the dog gets killed in any movie.
Last night I walked into the living room and my wife was watching the Hallmark channel. It was a Christmas story about some woman whose name happened to be "Kris Kringle" - riveting story, epic performances. As soon as she dozed off, I dove for the remote and flipped it to the Packers-Bears. (Boy, I miss outdoor, bad weather games on Thanksgiving day being the norm.)
It's a Wonderful Life, at the end when he has all those friends.
First movie that ever brought a tear to my eye was called I think "My Girl" and for some reason I think it had Macaulay Culkin in it and was about someone that lived at a funeral home.

Dave I got to watch that movie on Friday. My wife DVR's every Christmas movie on Hallmark, and Lifetime. I think I have seen 500 Christmas movies so far this season lol
ANY lifetime movie. When I walk into a room and my wife is watching one, I start crying right there on the spot.
I have a child lock on that channel. My two boys do not need to see movies where some wronged woman kills her husband/fiancee/boyfriend and gets away with it.

If you want her to stop watching those, take notes during the movie.
I often shed a tear over a movie not because of sadness but because of... I'm not sure. I get an emotional upwelling.
For example:
Major League (actually cried my guts out during the "Wild Thing" song. I wasn't sad. I wasn't elated. I was just very "moved". Maybe 40 years of pent-up fandom. (whatever that means)

Or where the woman screws everything up yet it's still somehow always the guys fault
I remember crying after watching Harry and the Hendersons when I was a little kid. John Lithgow's character having to push and hit Harry to get him to understand that he needed to go was pretty sad to me. I know it's kind of a funny/stupid movie, but Harry was a likable character.
I don't really cry at movies at all. I remember getting a lump in my throat after watching Big Fish. Not so much a sad movie, but the ending is overhwelming the way it all unfolds.
The Green Mile was incredibly sad and tough to take at times.
It was pretty emotional at the end of Miracle when Jim Craig was looking in the stands for his dad. The real shot of him doing so is pretty emotional as well.
I'm far more likely to shed tears during happy moments in movies than I am for sad moments. And it usually involves those parent child moments where somebody realizes they were wrong. I can't think of any off the top of my head... Hell, I choke up at commercials with those parent/child moments.
An older movie called Awakenings, with Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro. Deniro is a patient who has been in a vegetative state for 20 years or so, and they give him an experimental drug that awakens him, but the drug has side effects, and eventually they must take away the drug. He meets a girl during his awakening, and eventually has to tell her that he can't see her anymore. That part will make the manliest of men a little moist...lol
