A Corvair..my God what a piece a junk that car was/is. My dad had that car OUNCE left us stranded in a snow storm had to walk 15 miles to the nearest pay phone..no celleies at that time.

I still have nightmares about that car/walk to this very day.

My Grandparents had that Thunderbird but in some weird green..and would come to pick me up to go visit them back at their house and would say FBHO71 get into THE LTD and keep your feet on the floor.

Even as a child i thought their color of choice was 'odd' but I wasn't brought up to question the elder's

My first car wasn't sexy: a 1988 Plymouth Firefly, a little compact car that was great on gas and good for zipping around town and city streets.

I once bought a 1985 Dodge Aries for $300 and it lasted four years until the frame went. Didn't spend a cent on it, best car I ever owned.

This is identical to my first car. I bought it when I was 18.

A 1970 AMC Hornet.

I bought it cheap in 1974. I got it cheap as the paint job had hail damage and the car looked like it had measles.

I had the car ~ 3 months before I totaled it. (I managed to roll it on a dirt road)

My first car was a '74 Opel Manta.

This thing had some great features. It had an electric heater that would turn off when the engine heat caught up. It had rack and pinion steering, not power steering, and could almost turn in circles. My favorite was the foot pump for the washers. Handled great and was quite fast. It was a nice ride. If I had the money and garage (equipped garage that is), I would rebuild one for that mid-life crisis thing I'm waiting for.

1977 Chevy Monza

Had to touch up the paint and install a stereo w/ new speakers but loved the car. It was all mine (paid cash for it) and it got me around for 5-6 years.

After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.
