It's definitely not the RB's that are the problem. Top 5 pick!?

I really hope we don't draft a RB top five. After Trent I never want to see that happen again. There's quite a few decent backs coming out so I'm hoping second round. Bosa for me. Cut Kruger.

I probably agree actually but a great back can do wonders... Just throwing the idea out there for discussion.

Has shown a nose for the end zone but not a feature back IMO There are like 3 "feature" backs in the entire NFL, two of which were replaced this year in Bell and Lynch and their teams didn't miss a beat. The only irreplaceable back is Peterson. Draft a 1st round QB every single year until one is good enough to keep.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Our backs are doing a fantastic job. They make the first guy miss and pickup positive yards. The problem however is that they are making the first guy miss 4 yards in the backfield. They are picking up 5 yards after first contact but only getting one yard of actual production.

Need more than a running back to open up the run game. We need to stop letting d-line penetrate and blow back our linemen.
All it takes is one offensive linemen to fail or miss their assignment, and it's a negative yardage play. I'm not versed in the scheme and etc, but I know Duke squeezing and cutting back almost all his successful run plays. Crow doesn't have the vision/patience to do that. A better scheme/more physical oline help our run game more than anything IMO.

Top 5 no...hopefully if not QB it will be pass rusher, Football player extraordinaire.
I know there is a NO NO NO stigma but man that kid Henry is impressive from Bama. But I hope we never spend a top 10 pick on RB unless we are talking JIM Brown Status!!!

he is bro, he's so big too. whats crazy is that he's so powerful, that often this season he's created his own holes.
he's impressive, but man bro, we have a lot of other priorities.

Somehow, there's always a D player coming through freely and unaccounted for. Didn't have that problem with this starting OL (with Bit vs Erving) last year.

I know but this kid is consistently good on a different level! Damn!!! 5.9 average and 23TDs this year? You add in the 6'3" and 245 lbs, and that's almost like a bus. That might be worth a first rounder, just not a top 10 unless he's also the greatest kid in the world.

Just sticking with the thread... RB
Already said NO at top 5 and No at top 10. If we were around 17 and he was available I'd probably jump on that pending who else was there!

Any RBs in the draft worthy of a Top 5 pick? Any chance we could find a difference-maker in FA? Is it the running backs or the line? Not sure!

I think neither, I think it is the blocking scheme and play selection. We have a habit of telegraphing what we are doing. Hey look Dray is in, crowell is in, i bet they run it to the right. Oh, Barnidge and duke are in, pass play. kinda make it too easy for the opposing defense sometimes. they can just tee off on us and it makes the line look bad when, really they are not bad at all.

The problem is the scheme and Flip who hates the run and has no intention of ever developing a run game. We were running the ball pretty well yesterday. Crow was avg over 5 yrds per. So of course we didn't bother feeding him the rock. Instead we threw the ball 38 times with our THIRD STRING QB under center. As long as Flip is OC we will never run the ball as anything more than a way to "keep the D honest" which isn't working because every team in the league knows we throw 4o times a game EVERY game. That's why our QB's take the beating they do. Doesn't matter who the QB is, we will throw the ball close to or over 40 times.
Flip threw out the Shanahan zone blocking scheme and installed what ever crap scheme we've been running all year. Run game is GONE. It left with Shanahan.
It's not the RB's and it's not the line. They played very well last year. They didn't forget how to play in one years time. It's our OC and his scheme. 16 rushing TD's last year. 2 this year. What changed? OC changed.

However, in 2014 we scored 12 TD's passing while this season (to date) 18 through the air. Last season our D scored 3, and 2 so far in 2015. I don't count a QB running it in as a rushing TD. Our RB's scored 16 TD's last year. We're missing 14 TD's from that pile. So what? So instead of maintaining a productive running game and adding improvement to the air game, our glorious OC decided to chuck the entire run game out the window.... We don't need to run the ball. We don't need any stinking rushing yards or touchdowns. THEY DON'T COUNT AS MUCH in Flips mind. Great. We will just throw throw throw and not bother with running the ball. Running is old school. Throw every down is modern and hip and exciting..... Unfortunately, we don't have the F'n QUARTERBACK to play that way. THAT'S so what. When we have a QB that can throw 40 TD's a season we won't need as many rushing TD's. Tell me man, NAME the QB on this team that can throw even 35 TD's every season. Lets hear it man. Until you can name a Browns QB that can throw us to 12 wins by out scoring every team in the league.... WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO RUN THE F'N FOOTBALL. A running game would help our QB's stay healthy. Teams wouldn't hit our QB's as often if they knew we might run the ball. Now they KNOW we flat out WON'T. Can't. Hence our QB's take a beating. A running game would help our defense. Eat clock. Give them rest. Keep them off the field. Keep the opposing QB off the field. Wouldn't that be nice? Not in Flips mind. Flip is a flop. Happily, when Pettine goes he will too. Buh and Bye.

WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO RUN THE F'N FOOTBALL. We all know the advantages (as you listed) of being able to run the ball. But guess what....WE CAN'T. Don't have the personnel or scheme to do so. (No point in bringing up the Pats as we likely don't have a Brady currently on the roster). Flip is playing the cards he was dealt...and in my not-so-informed opinion, doing a decent job in his rookie season. He's doing what he has to do...

Flip is playing the cards he was dealt...and in my not-so-informed opinion, doing a decent job in his rookie season. He's doing what he has to do... For the first half of the season I was pretty high on Flip, but I'm cooling off on him. My understanding based on what the team was telling us, we were going to keep the zone blocking scheme... something about Flip deciding to learn the verbage and such instead of making dozens of other people learn his. I should think that considering we have the same O-Line (most of them are quite experienced players), and the same RB and actually an upgrade in Duke, that our run game would almost be on auto pilot. But as someone pointed out earlier, it looks like someone is shooting a gap almost every time or there's a OLB who penetrates and cuts the outside off. Maybe Flip doesn't grasp or understand Shanny's scheme as much as we all hoped? I dunno what the problem is, but its not like we didn't have the pieces in place for a successful run game coming in to this season.

I wouldn't mind drafting Ezekiel Elliott high. I think he will be very good/great in the NFL. (AND I'm no OSU homer)
