People have learned in these PC times in which we live, to do your thing but keep your mouth shut about it.

If you talk like you want Trump, you will be given a lot of grief. A friend tried wearing his Trump hat for a day and found himself in arguments everywhere he went.

My father who is a hardcore democrat. I mean HARDCORE to the point he will start foaming at the mouth over it at times. If its between Hillary and trump he will vote Trump. If democrats make Hillary their candidate I am very positive republicans will win by a landslide no matter who they put up there.

I will not vote for Trump.

There is a major problem when people vote for one single issue ... instead of the overall package of ideas presented by a candidate.

This country is a mess, economically. We are heading towards a ton of part time labor. I am not sure what the solution is, but someone better address this and work on some ideas to help solve it. We are importing people from other countries to fill jobs that pay a solid wage. (well above minimum wage)

I agree that the Mexican border is a major problem, but we can better handle that by increasing manpower on the border, than by building a fence. It will take significant manpower to cut the flow of people streaming across in both directions. Building a fence, a wall, or whatever, might help with some percentage, but the drug runners who are tunneling underground from Mexico to inside the US. We need equipment for the border patrol to be able to find these tunnels, and shut them down. That is going to take a lot of time.

Anyway, I look at Trump, and he truly is a man of sound bytes and slogans. He is like the Republican (is he even really a Republican?) version of Obama, impressive rhetoric and almost no specifics. "I will fix the economy." "How?" "I will fix it." Oh, thanks for clearing that up.

I think a physical fence is key to border security. Over the long haul it is more cost efficient than additional manpower.. .plus, when you do get your additional manpower, they can spend more time looking for those under ground tunnels and such and less on those jumping fences.

Oh, while we're on the subject of immigration: my solution to the "anchor baby" problem. If a child is born on our soil and neither parent is a citizen, they go back to wherever, but that child can be registered and when they turn the age of 18, they can come back and claim full citizenship if they wish.


As for a guy like Trump having this kind of success... I blame people who voted for Obama. By electing him they significantly lowered the quality of an already poor quality political class.

CARTER BANNED IRANIANS FROM COMING TO US DURING HOSTAGE CRISIS

Trump is a monster, a madman and a vile racist. He's just like Hitler. Or Jimmy Carter.

During the Iranian hostage crisis, Carter issued a number of orders to put pressure on Iran. Among these, Iranians were banned from entering the United States unless they oppose the Shiite Islamist regime or had a medical emergency.

Here's Jimmy "Hitler" Carter saying it back in 1980.

Fourth, the Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly.

Apparently barring people from a terrorist country is not against "our values" after all. It may even be "who we are". Either that or Carter was a racist monster just like Trump.

Meanwhile here's how the Iranian students in the US were treated.

Carter orders 50,000 Iranian students in US to report to immigration office with view to deporting those in violation of their visas. On 27 December 1979, US appeals court allows deportation of Iranian students found in violation.

In November 1979, the Attorney General had given all Iranian students one month to report to the local immigration office. Around 7,000 were found in violation of their visas. Around 15,000 Iranians were forced to leave the US.

Meanwhile any Iranians entering the US were forced to undergo secondary screening.

Interestingly enough, Carter did this by invoking the Nationality Act of 1952. A law originally opposed by Democrats for its attempt to restrict Communist immigration to the United States.

“If this oasis of the world should be overrun, perverted, contaminated, or destroyed, then the last flickering light of humanity will be extinguished,” Senator McCarran said of the law. He was a Democrat.

Now unlike Muslims, Iranians were not necessarily supportive of Islamic terrorism. Many were and are opponents of it. Khomeini didn't represent Iran as a country, but his Islamist allies. So Trump's proposal is far more legitimate than Carter's action. Carter targeted people by nationality. Trump's proposal does so by ideology.

Classifying Iranians as a group is closer to racism than classifying people by a racist supremacist ideology that calls for the mass murder and enslavement of non-Muslims, as ISIS is doing today.

One of the neater subsets of the 1952 Act barred the entry of, "(11) Aliens who are polygamists or who practice polygamy or advocate the practice of polygamy."

I wonder which creed this might apply to.

Maybe the professional conservatives running around shrieking their heads off can calm down now long enough to have a rational conversation on the subject.

I just find this funny as hell, because I was feeling this was before the 2008 election of our current president. All the talk about 'fundamentally changing America', 'We have to change our history', 'Hope and Change', and the other nonsense. I thought his plan was terrible, what little plan we got, and I thought he was not a patriot, as he could only talk about what was bad about our country. Enjoy this moment, libs, as this is what conservatives were spitting nails about 8 years ago.

Trump wants to keep Muslims from coming into America for a time because we are at war with a faction of the Muslim religion. He does not, as many think, suggest keeping Muslim American Citizens out of America because they are Americans and covered under our Constitution.

He says while we have people in Washington who have no clue what they are doing, we must first act to protect ourselves. There are evil Muslim people who want nothing more than to kill us.

I might add he has once again gotten himself all over the News which is free publicity and has put himself in the position of being the guy who wants to protect the American people while all of his opponents are on the News criticizing him and appearing to defend the enemy. Brilliant.

I could say the exact same thing as to why we ended up with Obama in the first place.

None of the candidates are 100% of what I want... eventually I will have to figure out which is the closest and which hits my most important issues.

Razor, I had the idea that it would be the other way around. That Trump vs Hillary would result in a landslide victory for Hillary.

I just know that the winner of a Trump vs Hillary contest is most certainly not the American people.

I believe if it turns out to be Trump vs Hillary, it will be the best case I've ever seen for an independent candidate to run.

I've had to choose between the lesser of two evils before, but I don't see that as even a choice under those circumstances.

If it ends up being Trump vs Hillary, this country just needs to burn itself to the ground.

I think if you see that combo it will be because Bush got the repub nomination and it will be an independent run.

The big money guys and PACS and such are lining up now to crush all the other candidates except for Bush and Trump. Their goal is to get it down to those two and then crush Trump.

You could see Hillary, Bush and Trump in the Presidential election, winner would be Hillary and her big money backers.

In that matchup I am willing to wager that Trump wins by the largest landslide ever seen. Even democrats tend to hate Hillary. The things see does versus what she says is very obvious that she is a cruel and vindictive person who has no respect for people in general.

Trump is more of a moderate democrat than a republican. He only joined the republican party because he knew there would be no one to run against. I mean democrats don't have a single valid candidate worth voting for.

I am not sure Trump would have wanted to run again Kasich or Rubio in a national campaign for president. That would have been a real brawl to win that one. Trump versus Hillary though will be a landslide because so many people flat out HATE Hillary that they will be motivated to vote more than ever before.

Hell, they got a petition in the uk going on right now to ban him from coming to the country. It's got over 300k signatures and rising.

It would be the worst election in American History. The most money spent to choose between 2 candidates nobody likes.

The campaign would divide the country in half and people would either not vote or choose who they consider the lesser of 2 evils.
