Move to Texas. I lived there over 25 years. Leave Ohio, it is a dying state. Tennessee is an option but I will remind you that Davey Crockett left Tennessee for Texas and he was no slouch. I suspect you can make it there as well. This is my thought as well.

Freeloader oh boy got to take the good with the bad in an open environment I guess...Why would you say that about someone and have no clue about the person you speak of:/
But thanks for my morning laugh I'll be sure to show my wife that response and see if she finds it as funny as I do.
To everyone else my sincerest thanks.

FBHO71 HaHa You asked for advice here! You didn't give any real details about your work, what you do, or your physical situation except you don't feel well. I can only gather from your post that you aren't working or even looking for work, and you are most likely surviving on Gov't handouts or living off disability or living off your families income or all of the above. You left your family in Texas and must be living at Mom and Dad's or with another family member. Who knows? Certainly none of us since you are vague on everything except the guns you own. Sorry, but if you want real advice on real life this is the last place you should be asking for it. Actually I think you just want some attention and should seek professional advice. JMHO Don't want it, don't ask for it.

theres only one city in TX i'd consider and thats San Antonio, Depending on where you are talking about in TN, it could be good. I lived in brentwood and antioch while stationed at campbell for about 6 years.. TN has some great outdoors, but Nashville/memphis has some of the worst crime in the US and the blight in those areas is expansive. But rural tennessee and east tennesses is very nice Yes I wouldnt have been hesitant if it was San Antonio..Houston ugh..idk. The place in Tenn. is in Woodbury. I liked it there..my wife has "other" reasons for not jumping on it..like my youngest knucklehead son I think. Thats pretty crazy, I dated a girl from woodbury, lived in cookeville. Mboro is a pretty good town too. Woodbury is pretty small, and well the whole manson family thing might deter people..lol

Go with the best opportunity. I live in Tennessee and love it, but could easily live in Texas. Both states have similar values and attitudes. They should, Tennesseans played a big part in settling Texas. Sam Houston is the only person to be Governor of two different states, first in Tennessee, then in Texas.

One question, is this gonna be your last home? If so you mentioned your wife may be wanting Texas to be near your son at Ft. Hood but what if he leaves Texas after his 3 or 4 years are up? are you going to want to stay there then? All things being equal I think Tennessee is the better place.

Thanks Peen..The best opportunity seems to be Texas. I know we haven't formally introduced but I've read your stuff for years and also read you on another Browns Board.

Yes it would be the last place we move..And what you said is what I just asked her on the phone. She comes home tomorrow and will make a decision. I lived in Texas in the late 80's while serving my country..but it was short lived and my extended family that lives there in northern Texas wasnt much help. I liked what I saw of Woodbury..I think my wife did to but wants to be near our youngest son. Thanks for your's and Ballpeen's response.

This has nothing to do with your question bud. I am just amazed once again at the folks who say chase the money, chase the job, Ohio is dying. Maybe its just my old ass that thinks this way but what about FAMILY, What about PRIDE, What about FRIENDS. It seems to me that way, way, way, to many people worry about money, themselves, and weather more than they care about what is really important in life. Would I ever move away from my family? Nope nope for 5 million bucks a year. Would I ever move away from my friends? Nope not for 4 million bucks a year. Would I ever move away from my community just to make myself a little more comfortable. Nope not for 2 million bucks a year. It seamss like everybody is all about me, me, me, yet everybody complains about this world falling apart. One look in the mirror explains a lot of the problems

GM..Money Has zero to do with our decision. That we have. What we dont have is a people around us that I enjoy interacting with everyday.
My family is scattered all over the country/world and her family wjats left of it is up in the Cleveland/Akron area and we have no intentions of moving up there.
We moved to Ohio so my sons could be near their grandparents on both sides of the family...well most have died off and others have moved elsewhere.
I hate where I live and I'm growing weary of the snow and just gloomy days here...I'd like to be where its sunny more then cloudy.
But we have no real family left and my closest friends live in other states. Though my best friend/former business partner lives close and he is planning on moving soon.
I hear you man...but this isnt a money situation..its more of we are tired of where we live situation.
But thanks for the reply bud.

Jay yes thats the one she is in the financial side a number cruncher so to speak..and it will be a change of pace from what she has been doing for the last 10yrs.
Lakes of Parkway is where she was looking at buying if we go..Know anything about this place? what surrounds it? I'll take you up on the pm I think.
I am worried about their water problem down there..Idk maybe I'm the one not real thrilled and I'm not sure for why. I don't know lakes of parkway specifically but I saw it was in Katy area which is a really nice area of town - it's a fast growing part of town with some nice shops, restaurants and health care.. I unfortunately don't know enough to give recommendations of neighborhoods out there I don't think that area is known for flooding... Most flooding areas are downtown Houston or a couple places where freeways go low... But you just avoid them - there are so many ways to get around town or you just don't go to those area of there's going to be bad weather... There's not a ton of flooding in Houston but we do get it every once in awhile but you just have to pay attention to where's it's gonna flood. There's a several websites i use to help with traffic

No problem - like I said I don't know the specific neighborhood area you mentioned and i don't know the west side well but I do know that area is growing well right now - overall it's a pretty good city I hate the traffic and the heat but there's a lot I like here I do miss Ohio and I tell everyone I'm from Ohio but live in Texas... Thankfully there are a ton of Buckeyes down here I will also say Knoxville will be my next place to live But let me know if there's anything else I can help with
