Hey at least he didn't say the big plays were "flawless" Not being in the loop given my location, has Bowe been brought up by any reporter in any press conference? I can't recall Pet or Flip being questioned on this $9mil marquee free agent acquisition being a healthy scratch game after freakin game!!

I can't recall Pet or Flip being questioned on this $9mil marquee free agent acquisition being a healthy scratch game after freakin game!! He had been a big topic in press conferences from training camp until midway through the year when he continued to be a scratch ... but as of late, it's almost like everyone's accepted that he's just a bum
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Now I really don't care for him.
He's blaming others.
In five games this season, he has three catches for 31 yards -- about $3 million per catch. That's 63.5 fewer receptions than he averaged in eight years in Kansas City 863 fewer yards
And then followed by Bowe is still confident that if the Browns had put him in the game and threw him the ball, he would've matched or exceeded his 66 catches and 894 yards. At 6-2, 222, he also felt he could've been the big-body wideout the Browns needed in the red zone -- a role that Terrelle Pryor will now likely play over the final three games.
Followed by "Of course I can still play,'' said Bowe. "I show it every day in practice. I feel like if they put me in there and threw the ball to me, I would've made big plays.
Followed by He surmised that he was never able to catch back up after missing most of training camp with the pulled hamstring, especially with a new offensive coordinator in John DeFilippo who was installing a new scheme.
"When I got hurt, it set me back as far as the coach getting to know what I can do and things like that,'' he said. "I just got so far behind in the playbook and they added most of the main content when I was out. When I was got back, they were so far ahead, and to go back for me would've set the whole offense back.
So, he knows why he doesn't play, on one hand, but he laments the opportunity on the other hand. He blames the team, yet says he was so far behind in the playbook......
You're a veteran. Getting behind on the playbook means you weren't studying the playbook. In fact, if you're injured and can't practice or play, that should enable you to get ahead in the playbook, not behind.
He's not a rookie. Not knowing the playbook, as he self confessed, is terrible. I just fixed this so I could read it. No harmful intentions, Arch

I'm just really disappointed. The guy has dogged it on the field and now he's making excuses.

"Everybody's wanted to see it,'' he said. "It's just unfortunate. The game I was activated and they threw me in, I made some big plays. It just depends on when you want it to happen.' He made some big plays in a game? I could be wrong, but I really don't remember that. I remember him having one catch and fighting for a few extra yards, but I don't remember "big plays." Am I wrong? Nope, you aren't wrong at all..

Maybe Bowe is just playing a game, ya think?
To me, it looks like Bowe is giving such a poor effort in the hopes the Browns cut him, so he can just take the guaranteed money and move on.
Do the Browns just give him what he wants?
...or do the Browns keep him on the roster, not giving him the easy way out Bowe is looking for?
Face it, if Bowe has that much trouble learning a playbook, he is either dumber than a box of rocks or he is intentionally trying to get himself cut.

In Bowe's case, the first step towards a cure is admitting that you are the problem. Simple enough. It's all uphill from there.
If you are not dressed for the game and you are telling a stoopid reporter writing a stoopid story about a stoopid healthy player who is scratched repeatedly because he is not at all what he tells you, then you are not good.
This story? Really? The most burning Browns story on the beat. I practically cared for a moment when it practically mattered. How about team stories about folks playing? Or did you need to use up some leftover FO mud?

The big deal for me...this was a guy who came to Cleveland with our GMs approval and based on their previous relationship in KC...what does that say about Farmer's judgement?

Actually, it's a toss up between him and the 'flawless' Justin Gilbert. I'm beginning to really wonder if there were other teams even interested in Bowe, and if so, why were we the only morons to give him a payday for a lazy bum?

It was rumored that the Dolphins were interested. Bowe is a microcosm of all the things wrong with this team.

I'd wager money that Bowe played the game; said all the right things, acted the right way, gave no indications of anything. Heck, maybe he even had every intention of playing and putting himself out there and didn't have the change of heart until the concussion - we'll probably never actually know. In the end, I actually don't - and won't - fault Farmer on this one. Yeah, he's the one that takes the lump because he's the one that brought him in, but honestly, I don't think any GM could or would have seen this coming. Now, giving up that kind of guaranteed money, however... yeah, that's a questionable thing.

On WR Dwayne Bowe’s status and why he hasn’t played much: “There is frustration I am sure on both ends that it hasn’t worked out as we had hoped, that he did fall behind. As I have said, each week is a separate story line, a separate set of circumstances that we evaluate. In more weeks than not, he was not in the group of receivers that we were going to have up. A big part of it is that he only plays the one spot, which is the X, which (WR) Travis (Benjamin) has occupied that spot and played at a high level for most of the year. Our other guys know multiple positions. Again, it is tough. I know he is frustrated that it hasn’t worked out. That is a week-to-week decision that we make. We hit the reset button and talk about who are the guys that we are going to have up and what spots they are going to play. Usually, it is multiple spots. Then I always use the phrase ‘we backfill’ from a special teams standpoint.’ On if Bowe only plays the X position because that is what he has played throughout his career and if he could also learn a new position: “Just from a body-type, skillset standpoint, he is primarily an X, and that is what he has played.” http://www.ohio.com/blogs/cleveland-brow...-today-1.647958
being a browns fan is like taking your dog to vet every week to be put down...

Now, giving up that kind of guaranteed money, however... yeah, that's a questionable thing. You most surely could be dead on, but Farmer has history with Bowe. I assumed, as any good GM would, that he would be able to compare Bowe from what he recalls and from what his attitude is/was during the interview process and be able to least make a decent heads from tails assessment. He failed to do that. Bowe could have still played it out, but at the very least, Ray should have picked up on the signs, including a total decline in production and have passed/made a more logical offer. Me, and JMO, but I still fault fully on Ray's shoulders that disaster that has been Dwayne Bowe. We'd have been light years ahead by signing Crabtree, whom just got rewarded a contract extension due to his production.

I think Farmer deserves some blame on this acquisition. Here is a post I made in the Game Day forum: Like purp said, we are all speculating. I think that Pet has some big-time issues w/Bowe, but I can't believe he isn't playing Bowe because he wants to screw Farmer. He plays guys like Orchard over Mingo. He cut guys like Kitchen to play Cooper and Meder. Hartline has been a starter when healthy.
I don't know if any of you remember this---tab might, because he commented on it at the time---but, I made a post during the off-season that Bowe might end up being the most hated Brown in a long, long time.
I really liked Bowe in college. He was big, fast, strong, and put up big numbers. I thought he had a bright future, therefore, I have followed his career in the pros. He has had some good years, but has been a disappointment when you look at how highly he was rated in college.
Effort, partying, and toughness have been issues throughout most of his career. I think I posted a couple of articles where he had a bad case of alligator arms. One of those times was against the Steelers and the Chiefs were driving for either the lead or a tying TD, when their QB threw a high pass over the middle to a streaking Bowe. The latter did not have to jump, but would have needed to extend his arms and there was a S in the vicinity, but not too close. Bowe's hands never got above his shoulders and the announcers went nuts. KC fans and media blasted him for a long time, especially because it has happened again.
Thus, I think the problems have more to do w/Bowe than Pet trying to screw Farmer. While I think there are issues between Pet and Farmer, I do think Pet wants to win games. I suspect that Pet isn't playing Bowe because of DB's lack of preparation each week. Not all of that is relevant, but there are parts that are very relevant and anyone aware of Bowe's career could see this coming.

The only thing I can figure that keeps Bowe on the roster is that as soon as he is cut the pics he has on Farmer go public.
