The wife and I just got home from dinner at Fleming's steak house in The Greene Town Center in Beavercreek.

I got the Wagyu New York Strip with black truffle butter with gorgonzola cream rub with Truffle poached lobster.

And Prince Edward Island Mussels for an appetizer...and Creme Brulee for dessert.

My wife got pretty much the same thing...our dinner guest went similar..and then we all shared a bottle of..Ca Del Bosco spelling??

Damn what a dinner..it was my first time going there and well
damn it was pretty good stuff and the service was awesome as well.

I wanted to stay home and make dinner with the wife and my best friend but man am I glad I got talked out of it.

Has anyone eaten there before?? something similar?? I'll be going back and soon..I enjoyed it quite a lot.

What recent place have you went to that you never been before and loved it?? or heck even just cooked yourself and would do it again? I love cooking and thought it would be something I would do on a professional level..never did but routinely get told I should be a chef by those I happen to cook for.

I haven't been to Flemmings yet, but just go to The Pine Club on Brown street. My friend once talked me out of Flemmings to go to TPC instead. Dang. Now I'm hungry.

I'm not really big on steak houses. They tend to get maggots really easy, and smell putrid within a week. Not fit for habitaton if you ask me.

Just don't confuse them with stake houses, which are great defenses against Vampires.

Never been there, but a few people have told me it's great.

I brought it up in another topic, but last year I learned this pretty awesome way to cook a steak, and it flat out beats a lot of the middle of the road steakhouses like Texas Roadhouse and Outback...

My cousin was in town for business not too long ago and they went out to Chicago Cut. Said it was one of the best meals he's ever had. I may go for my anniversary next summer.

I ate at one in Scottsdale many years ago. Good place for a chain steak house.

If you ever get to Toledo, OH give Mancy's a try. IMO, when looking at what they charge compared to similar quality it cannot be beat.

Couple of other steak houses I've enjoyed that are somewhat regional:
The Precinct in Cincy
St. Elmo in Indy

I usually cook at home as it is a hobby of mine - not sure I'd want to do it as a job, but I really enjoy cooking. I'm pretty good at it based on reviews at the tailgates and others when I cook something a little fancier.

I've recently started dry aging my own steaks which is something I have wanted to do for a long time. Haven't cooked one yet, but am anxiously awaiting my first batch.

I'm really into smoking meat as well, started dabbling in making my own bacon recently too. I could go on and on about cooking, but I'll just leave it at that for now.....

I'll second Mancy's. It's our go-to place for special occasions. They've been around a long time (3 generations) and age their meat on the premises for 28 days. They really know how to cook a steak.

Not too bad - there is one in Perrysburg that is pretty nice. Being in Columbus with Easton and Polaris most malls are pretty small comparatively speaking.

If you are in Sandusky you must, must, must go to Vermilion and eat here:
Chez Francois

Ballpeen will back me up on this one. The place is in my top ten of all restaurants (possibly top 5) I have ever eaten at.

I'll back you up on Chez Francois as well. Great spot. Quaint town.

Flemmings is a good spot for a chain steakhouse. Along the lines of a Morton's, Capital Grille or Del Fresco's.

In the Cleveland area, I recommend Red the Steakhouse, if you're in the mood for a steak.

Y-town I'm going to say this and I hope you dont take it as a slight...I dont know you or where you live this is just a general comment.

I have in-laws who live in Boardman...the first time I went to their place I ended up in downtown Youngstown...my first thought was this is it?? and my God what a dump. The person I was riding with was telling me how violent Youngstown was and we should probably bounce.

This was before cell phones ...so maybe things have changed but I havent been there in a many years. ..or since I accidentally ended up there.

We went to Mortons in Downtown Cleveland last Wednesday for the wifes birthday. What a dinner.

She and I had the Filets (her the 9 oz and me the 12 oz) Garlic butter on the side for dipping. Shrimp Coctail (not recommended, the Shrimp is great, the sauce sucks) and Au Gratin potatoes. Desert for me was an Apple Crisp..

As always, the meat is great at Mortons, the sides are just OK but at least the Apple Crisp was wonderful.

Downtown Youngstown has had a bit of a resurgence in recent years, with a number of decent restaurants and bars coming into the downtown area. Our former, former Mayor, George McKelvey, but a plan in place that actually started turning things around in Youngstown itself.

However, for many, many years, going into downtown in the evening was a horrible idea. There was really nothing to attract anyone to downtown after 5:00 PM or so.

I have to give the past couple of administrations some degree of credit, as they have taken what was a really good plan, (Youngstown 2010) and run with it. In addition to the reinvention and renovation of the downtown area, it also included the development of the small business incubator, which has done well for the area. They also cleaned up a lot of decrepit neighborhoods, (though this is, obviously an ongoing effort) by smartly using a combination of local and federal funds to tear down a lot of abandoned houses, and even rebuilding in some neighborhoods. If it had been up to me, I would have taken down whole neighborhoods in the upper south side and used them for industrial development, which could still happen, and which would be tremendous given the access to Cleveland and Pittsburgh, and the low overall costs of doing business here, combined with a large workforce.

It has taken a long time to get this mess started turning around. At least we finally had a Mayor who was willing to listen to the local business leaders and officials at YSU, and to develop a plan that is really showing progress today. (and a couple of Mayors since who were willing to follow that plan)

Hey thanks for the reply...and not taking what I said personal..it was just an observation years ago.

To be honest Ive never kept up on the area...but it is nice to read what you wrote.

The last thing I ever read about Ytown was something about the police being able to triangulate the sound of gun fire??

And thinking yep my initial thought about the place mustve been right.

You are happy there and well I'm glad to hear it..like I said it was a long time ago and my friend knew of the place and said we needed to bounce...so thanks for not taking it as a slight...that was not my intent.

Youngstown is probably the largest Ohio city/town I've never stepped foot in.

Just looked it up. Yes it is. Youngstown comes in at number #9:

Youngstown 66,982
Canton 73,007
Parma 81,601
Dayton 141,527
Akron 199,110
Toledo 287,208
Cincinnati 296,943
Cleveland 396,815

Do those population numbers include the greater Cleveland area i.e., the suburbs as well? Does Columbus really have twice as many people as Cleveland? Wow.

Isn't Columbus where they want to move training camp? Always a money angle with this regime and ownership.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
