I dont like Trump's personality..didnt believe he was running for the right reasons...but man the more he says he wants to do...his stance on 2nd amendment rights...and not being able to be bought off by the GOPe or pacs...has me slowly getting behind him...I dont agree with everything he says but I do agree with enough that if I have to choose between him or Hillary well I did vote for Bill Clinton but no way in hell will I vote for Hillary or any Dem in THIS election cycle.

I also think people who say Hillary will win in a landslide are fooling themselves. When he first started his campaign I thought it was a joke and would fizzle out fast...man I just saw some pics of the crowds he is pulling at his touring events and I'm thinking anyone who is not taking his chances seriously is kidding themselves...republican or democrat.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but I'm pretty sure he's never been bankrupt. Some of his businesses have, but him personally? Pretty sure not.

Regardless, the u.s. is bankrupt anyway.

None of those were personal bankruptcy filings.

Fact-checking site PolitiFact has named the Donald Trump's "collective misstatements" its "Lie of the Year."

"In considering our annual Lie of the Year, we found our only real contenders were Trump’s -- his various statements also led our Readers’ Poll," PolitiFact wrote on its website. "But it was hard to single one out from the others. So we have rolled them into one big trophy."

Checking Facts and Lashing Out at Donald Trump

PolitiFact checked 77 Trump statements and found that 76 percent of them were Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire.

In other words, for every four statements Donald Trump makes, only one of them is true, according to the site.

"Clearly a lot of voters still care about the truth," Norman Ornstein, a scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, told PolitiFact. "What we don’t know at this point is what share that is."

Trump isn't self funding his campaign. As of Nov 10, 2015 about 91.2% of his campaign money comes from outside donations. As of a few months ago there was the Make America Great Again superpac and 8 smaller PACs. He shuttered MAGA and asked the other 8 to stop using his image as he wanted to not get tied to the PAC

And I would not say the immigrants are flowing across the border. This is interesting. It seems like the net flow in the last 5+ years is that they are leaving slightly

5 facts about illegal immigration in the U.S.

By Jens Manuel Krogstad and Jeffrey S. Passel595 comments

.
The number of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. has stabilized in recent years after decades of rapid growth. But there have been shifts in the states where unauthorized immigrants live and the countries where they were born.

President Obama’s executive action on immigration, announced Nov. 20, 2014, would among other things expand deportation relief to almost half the unauthorized immigrant population, though this part of the program is on hold due to a lawsuit to stop the move. While executive actions on immigration have a long history, Obama’s recent action was the most significant protection from deportation offered to unauthorized immigrants since 1986, when Congress passed a law that allowed 2.7 million unauthorized immigrants to obtain a green card.

Here are five facts about the unauthorized immigrant population in the U.S.

1There were 11.3 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. in 2014. The population has remained essentially stable for five years, and currently makes up 3.5% of the nation’s population. The number of unauthorized immigrants peaked in 2007 at 12.2 million, when this group was 4% of the U.S. population.

2Mexican Unauthorized Immigrant Population Declines Since 2007 PeakMexicans make up about half of all unauthorized immigrants (49%), though their numbers have been declining in recent years. There were 5.6 million Mexican unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. in 2014, down from 6.4 million in 2009, according to preliminary Pew Research Center estimates.

3Six states alone account for 60% of unauthorized immigrants — California, Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey and Illinois. But the distribution of the population is changing. From 2009 to 2012, several East Coast states were among those with population increases, whereas several Western states were among those with population decreases. There were seven states overall in which the unauthorized immigrant population increased: Florida, Idaho, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Meanwhile, there were 14 states in which the population decreased over the same time period: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Mexico, New York and Oregon. Despite a decline, Nevada has the nation’s largest share (8%) of unauthorized immigrants in its state population.

4Unauthorized immigrants make up 5.1% of the U.S. labor force. In the U.S. labor force, there were 8.1 million unauthorized immigrants either working or looking for work in 2012. Among the states, Nevada (10%), California (9%), Texas (9%) and New Jersey (8%) had the highest shares of unauthorized immigrants in their labor forces.

5About 7% of K-12 students had at least one unauthorized immigrant parent in 2012. Among these students, about eight-in-ten (79%) were born in the U.S. In Nevada, almost one-in-five students (18%) have at least one unauthorized immigrant parent, the largest share in the nation. Other top states on this measure are California (13%), Texas (13%) and Arizona (11%).

Tax payers don't pay for personal or private business bankruptcies.

Our current president took over a bankrupt country. Tax payers were on the hook for it. Our current president spent us into even deeper bankruptcy. Tax payers are on the hook for it.

Can you imagine this country ever paying off it's debt? I can't. If you include unfunded future expenditures, it's some where in the neighborhood of 120 trillion dollars - even if we quit spending today. The "book" debt is.....19 trillion? 21 trillion? I can't even imagine this country getting that paid, as we run a deficit every year anyway.

Bankruptcy. I don't know of any business filing bankruptcy where the city, state, or fed. gov't. says "doggonit. Now we have to charge the citizens for the taxes."

I am aware of many instances where back property taxes are required to be paid by whomever buys the property.

I could be wrong...but didnt Trump use bankruptcy as a way to restructure the debt??? Not just get out of underneath it completely..or am I mistaken?

I mean using it to restructure is just smart business..but I dont remember reading anywhere he used it to get out of his company paying their debts off.

If I'm wrong fine...but just because a company files bankruptcy doesnt mean they get to blow off their debts or taxes...so if anyone knows the answer I'd appreciate it.

Nobody pays them. Unless a person or company buys the remaining assets - think property - then they would be responsible for the property taxes. That's my understanding. Keep in mind, I'm not a bankruptcy attorney.

Obama Credited With Saying the 'Stupidest Thing Ever Said by a President'

Mark Penn, who owns a public relations firm handling communications for the Barack Obama Foundation, credited Obama with uttering the “stupidest thing ever said by a president in foreign policy.”

In a March 2012 email sent to Hillary Clinton’s private email address, Penn lambasted Obama for his statement to then-Russian President Dmitri Medvedev that he would “have more flexibility” on missile defense issues after the 2012 election.

“This could be about the stupidest thing ever said by a president in foreign policy,” wrote Penn. “To explicitly say that he is laying low on nuclear defense policies because of his election right now and tell your opponent that is to politicize all foreign policy, evidence weakness that can be exploited by others, and undermine the administration’s credibility."

Feds arrest 2 refugees on terror charges in California, Texas

Federal officials said Thursday that two men, including one who came to the U.S. as a Syrian refugee, had been arrested on terrorism-related charges in California and Texas.

A criminal complaint unsealed Thursday accused 23-year-old Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab, of Sacramento, Calif., of traveling to Syria to fight alongside terrorist organizations and lying to government investigators about it.

Almost simultaneously in Houston, federal authorities announced the arrest of Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan, 24, on charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS, procurement of citizenship or naturalization unlawfully and making false statements to investigators.

The documents did not indicate how the two men are connected.
However, the affidavit says Al-Jayab communicated with an unnamed individual living in Texas in April 2013 to see if he could receive training in various weapons.

Authorities say Al-Jayab, who came to the U.S. from Syria in October 2012, discussed plans to return to Syria and fight alongside terror groups with several other individuals on social media. The complaint says Al-Jayab was living in Wisconsin and Arizona during this period.

Social media and other accounts say that as soon as he arrived in the United States, he began saying he wanted to return to Syria to "work," which the FBI says is believed to be a reference "to assisting in and supporting violent jihad."

Not entirely directed at you. In this post rests the majority of my frustrations, and explains positions I take in politics on this board.

I want to see a fundamental change to our country. Our system currently chugs along due to plutocrats. From there they trot out Trump to distract us, and keep us divided.

Our system reeks of corruption at all levels. Our government, along with American society, needs more pluralistic thought from every single american citizen. American exceptionalism needs a fast death, and should get replaced with boatloads of humility.

Your social status, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, race, or color of your skin shouldn't exclude you from all benefits we claim our country stands for. The reality current sits with HUGE swaths of exclusion from all areas of our system. Don't believe me? Then get out of your echo chamber that blinds you from the plight of Americans vastly different than yourself. There's always the whole "Well, if they weren't lazy...", but that's such a tired excuse. You don't know what it's like for disenfranchised Americans. Hardly anyone who is sitting pretty lived the life of someone totally disenfranchised with our system. Are there those who've made it? Sure, but those are what we call outliers. Outliers exist as exceptions to the norm.

Our nation needs Bernie Sanders and an informed electorate much more than any sort of "reform" either major political party, run by the plutocrats, is pushing.

A couple points: Obamacare is not in any way shape or form a conservative idea. Just because Republicans in the past proposed or supported it, doesn't mean it's a conservative proposal. If it were, 1) it wouldn't be so unpopular amongst conservatives and 2) if you've been paying attention as I'm sure you have, the Republican establishment is not popular with its constituents precisely because it has been anything BUT conservative.

To this post: The reason why our politics is fouled up as it is, stems from really 2 reasons:

1) We The People have gotten lazy and long ago abdicated our Constitutional responsibility to be engaged and hold our politicians accountable.

2) Too often the solution to all our problems is turning to the government to create a law. Every time we do that, we are giving the Gov't the authority to give or deny us permission.

And finally, anyone who votes for Sanders IS voting for the dissolution of our Constitutional Republic. That's not rhetoric, it's simple truth. The Constitution was not written or put together to be the basis of a Socialist Gov't.

Sanders claims to be anti-corruption but is just as corrupt as the rest of the folks running for president.

It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

I eagerly await the day when open minded individuals realize socialistic ideas can benefit all instead of exists as some scary "NAZI!!!!!!" fallacy. The ideas Bernie endorses go back to how our country ran under Eisenhower. He acted like quite the scary boogeyman socialist.

Open minded individuals realize that socialism will ultimately fail because it demonizes incentive.

If you find a way to build a meritocratic component to the system it can work.

Then again Bernie isn't looking for pure socialism.

Meritocracy is the antithesis to socialism. One cannot exist alongside the other.

I eagerly await the day someone else will pay for my healthcare.

Wait - no, I don't. Because I'd still get stuck with the bill, as well as other's bills.

Can't a system encourage others to rise to the top, and provide enough support for people to get there if they chose? Our country truly doesn't work like that at the moment.

If you work hard in this country and accept responsibility for your own well being...you can be successful. Those who work hard should be rewarded, not told "nice job, now it's your civic duty to make sure everyone else has what you have"....or in the case of healthcare, even more.

Why do some need to work harder? Why should those living in a different socioeconomic bracket have it worse off than others?

Not trying to inject snark or anything into here. It's just I see how easy I had it, and then I compare my upbringing to others. People get born into their situation, and others have/had to work much much harder to get where I'm at. It shouldn't have to be like that.

No reason why anyone of a lower socioeconomic status needs to work a billion times harder due to being born into poverty (no fault of their own), minorities getting targeted by police yet they're innocent, or unequal sentences based on race.

These are the things that bother me about how our country works, but I think more of my concerns are about human nature more than anything else.
