Why the hell are we looking at guys like Morrone? I want an experienced HC. A guy that's already got a ring would be nice. Gruden, Cowher, Billick, Peyton, Coughlin......

Because they are going to make the lawyer, Sashi Brown, GM.

LaCanfora is saying that we will hire the GM before the coach. Yet we are interviewing coaches before we hire a GM. If what LaCanfora says is true, then that leads me to believe the GM is already on staff.

The fact we have coaches slotted for interviews already tells me we'll know our front office structure very soon.

Perhaps in the next five minutes.

Conflicting reports on that but I in NO WAY see that as a positive in a coach search.

Would you be interested in coaching the browns, knowing there is no qb, losing a center, possibly losing the best left tackle in the league, a defensive backfield that is questionable even when healthy, a d line that struggles?

HELL NO.

James Haslem has some pooch screwing to undo, and it won't be easy.

He set himself up. He took the shot. It's on him now. No more "dressing up" the game day experience. Old James needs to win, next year, even though everything points to yet another 5 year rebuilding process, which won't be given more than 2 years. He owns this crap.

Well, he knew for a few months this was a possibility...you don't make these large changes "last minute" so whatever he puts out there will have been in the motions for a few weeks or months... imho

There's a Jimmy Haslem news conference on the official site. It's up and running just waiting for Jimmy to show up.

Just fyi, Marrone is an experienced HC. No ring but was HC of the Bills for 2 years

I would not scoff at Doug Marrone. He went 6-10 and then 9-7 with Buffalo, which did not have a QB. They regressed with Rex Ryan.
He left after Pagula bought the team and apparently thought he could get the Jets job, but blew the interview. Maybe not the best person on the market, but a more solid guy than Pettine, for sure.
I'm for Chip Kelly, but I know I am in the tiny minority. I just do't think we are going to have our pick of the litter.

If Marrone could bring Schwartz as his defensive coordinator, I'd be all for it.

I also want Chip Kelly.

I think Chip would agree to that if he doesn't get the Tennessee job. I think he could be like Carroll and Belichick, where he learns from a first job and then becomes a great coach.
Tennessee might have some sort of Payton Manning/Adam Gase plan cooking, which would leave us a shot at Chip. And at that point, he could not balk at being limited to the sidelines. In fact, he really only made his power grab after going 10-6 twice. He could be sufficiently humbled.

It appears under Haslem the GM is not a GM but a super scout. The ultimate say will be Sashi.

Then again, Teryl Austin should be considered a legit candidate. If it was Wilbert Montgomery being called in for the interview, well then....

Sashi IS the GM. When you look at his duties they may have changed the name but the duties are the same. What they call the GM is just a glorified Head Scout.

This is going to be so bad that I really might just give up watching football. I mean this year was so pathetic I could only stomach the first half of the game most of the time.

I think your wrong. It was set up like that to weed out all the head butting power pushing guys that think they know how to run a football team. We need someone who will work together with everybody.
