I will definitely be taking my time with it, and that is actually the biggest and best argument right now for sticking with the single-loader vs the turret. It will force me to go slow while I learn.

I do intend to slug the barrels of both rifles to ensure that I get the right sized projectiles, and I have brass. I also have 880 rounds of berdan primed surplus ammo that, once fired, I plan to convert to boxer primers and reload. I've found a couple of really good resources for doing it and I just need a bench drill press to do it reliably, so that's easy enough.... and it gives me a TON of brass to reload once I burn through it all, too.

I had to take my amp in to get fixed, so all my guitar & bass repairs were put on hold. (I had a couple other amps that didn't work, so I threw them out about a year or two ago.... In hindsight probably shouldn't have, but....) I took my amp to Guitar Riot in Cleveland and they couldn't fix it so I ended up taking it to Beamish Electronics and they fixed it there.

Brought amp home... (Yea, it's finally fixed!) I had already rewired one of my basses. I plugged it in and... NOTHING. Grrrr!!! Oh, this pisses me off. All new wiring, pots, input and nothing. Either I wired it incorrectly or the pickups are fried. Who knows. I guess fixing all this stuff up is going to take me a lot longer than I thought it would (sighs).

I plugged in a guitar that works, hooked up my distortion box and got guitar but no distortion. I WANT DISTORTION!!! So that is also broken. I want a heavy metal distorted tone, not a squeakly-clean nice clear sound a mother would like!

Anyone have a person or place that fixes instruments that don't work? I need a pro. It's not complicated, but I need someone who has the proper equipment to test parts to see what is actually wrong, and I don't have that.

BTW, I'm in Euclid. The closer, the better.

Does anybody know a thi or two about installing subs and such in the car?

I paid someone to install my sub. I don't think it was too expensive.

Well, it's a project. I did my ram before easy, but the ride I got now is.... Complicated.

Thought I'd send out a update on my project. I'm hoping to get it titled and licensed in June or July

Well, last summer I finished turning my 12'x12' deck into a 12'x24' deck and I added downlighting on the rails and put lights on the steps.

I put a keypad lock on the front door. My 12 year old is alone sometimes when she gets home from school, kids lose keys.. all she has to do is remember the code and if she forgets, she can call me. It also has a feature to relock after 30 seconds, so when she gets in the house, even if she forgets to lock the door behind her, it locks itself.

I replaced a few duplex receptacles around the house with duplex/USB receptacles which makes it easier to charge gadgets in any room without that adapter part of the charger.

I put motion sensor light switches in several rooms where the lights were getting left on all the time, now they go off 5 minutes after you leave the room.

I put several dusk to dawn lights around the house to keep it well lit at night.

I ripped out the closet shelf and rod in the master bedroom walk-in, touched up and painted the closet, then installed this closet organization system that my wife wanted.

Pressure washed the sidewalk, concrete driveway, front stoop, etc..

The joy of home ownership.

Swish ...Right now the AC/DC wiring is roughed in and I have the bed slats in for the memory foam mattress (to be purch yet.) It's lined with 3/16 birch plywood through out. I'll post a pick when I get more of it in. Right now the focus is getting it all weather proofed. Doors, windows, and exterior running lights. There will be a galley in the rear for awesome tailgating fun.

All this stuff can add up to big bucks pretty fast.

I think door locks a couple of lights and thermostats are pretty much as far as I would go with that technology right now.

We're planning on going to Bar Harbor ME this summer with it. We live in the North East so we want to stay pretty close on the shake down trip. Would love to come to a home game in Clev with it this season. Fingers crossed everything turns out good on the highway and rain tests.

Google is making one and I can't wait for it.

Put together a haphazardous firepit made out of cinderblocks today. Can't wait to start grilling over it. Also I can't wait till I stop renting and can join the other home owners here doing the "fun" stuff.

I think it's pretty cool. I still think it's early in the process and the price will come down substantially over the next few years and the amount of options and ease of use will go up.

I have a Vera home automation controller in my house. I've had it for a few years, the ones on their website are new models than I have but I have LOVED it. It is very, very addicting for a tech junkie. It isn't for the faint of heart to setup and install everything but it is awesome.

It uses a technology called Z-wave to connect the devices to the controller.

So far I've got switches that control the lights in:
Family room (one switched outlet, overhead lights)
Foyer
Upstairs hall
My son's bathroom
Game room
Kitchen
Eating area (with dimmer)
Laundry
Garage
Coach on garage
Landscaping

Other automation:
Front door lock
Garage door lock
Garage door opener
Camera (can be remote controlled)
Leak detection in basement

I can control all of those from my phone and get alerts when they are on/off. Working on integrating my alarm but that has been a PITA. The landscape lights come on at sunset and turn off at sunrise (it is a setting in the config to use sunrise/sunset). No more changing timers.

I want to get:
Alarm working
Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors
Main water shutoff valve

I've played around with Geofencing to open my garage and turn on lights when I arrive home but that is pretty unreliable at this point. You can write custom scripts/apps for the controller as well - I wrote one that randomly turns different lights on at different times when I am away for work. People can write scripts and then upload them for others to use. It is really cool.

Other automation I have that isn't integrated into the controller:
Arlo cameras - I just put these in a few weeks ago. Have 5 cameras, any motion is automatically recorded and saved to the cloud (free for 5 cameras for 7 days of storage). So far it is pretty cool. No wires on the cameras, we'll see how the battery life is. App is pretty cool as well.

I also have a Dropcam, but I'll probably get rid of it, or possibly use it to monitor my shed.

My thermostat is a Lenox iComfort so I can control all aspects of it from an app on my phone.

Needless to say, I'm a bit addicted to this home automation stuff. It is so much fun, in a geeky way.

So from now until September this is my project.

I love the look on your dogs face, it's like, "would you get this crap out of my yard already?".

That's my buddy's dog, Cody. He and my dog love building season. They spend the weekends together running around the job site like two bulls in a china shop. They have no fear of the chaos. Running full steam through arcs of sparks being thrown from grinders or cutting wheels. They get way to close to us when we weld. They've knocked over more than one work station while playing chase with each other. They fit perfectly into our business model, safety third.

I'm late to the party here, but my biggest project right now is a 1985 Iroc z28 Camaro. She's getting a massive makeover.

It's been a very ongoing process, and slow. I have so many parts/setups, it's difficult to decide which route to take. Procharger or roots blower, pay someone to custom weld a dual exhaust or buy a welder and do it myself. Engine specs like compression, cam duration... I'm going to be spending a mini fortune so I want to divulge and look into all routes and setups.

That's the biggest thing I got going on. It's cool reading and seeing the diverse talents and hobbies here.

Buy the welder and do it yourself would always get my vote. Your first attempts may not be so hot, and you're going to make a ton of mistakes, but in the end you'll have a new skill - and a welder. From there, doing things like frame modifications aren't that big of a deal (with some patience).



This past weekend I weeded out 150+ sqft of completely overgrown flower bed. In years past, it had a hedge in there - a mix of Arbor Vitae and Burning Bushes. I tore all of those out last summer, but then through a series of life happenings, I wasn't at my house much at all last year and it became completely engulfed in weeds & thistle (talking an area about 3-1/2 ft x 45 ft. long) Well, I finally got it all weeded and turned over by hand, planted about 40 plants, and got it all watered in and mulched. So, for the first time in the nearly 16 years since I've lived here, I will have a veggie garden

Next up on my list is to tear the roof off of my garage and reframe and rebuild it. It is currently a flat/sloped roof and I'm planning to rip that off completely and reframe it with a tall gable that will give me more headroom in the garage as well as some additional storage space above the rafters. This project should be starting no later than August... hoping to make it a "weekend special" as I don't intend to pull permits.

We've built every year since 2011. The first year we were given an art grant. Since then we've been Honorarium Artists. Larger budgets, better camp placement, bigger crews.
Last year we built TrEeD. A 30'+ tall steel tree with a 4 roots designed to park about 100 bikes. Bikes being the primary way of traveling around the Playa.

In years past we've built a giant octopus bike rack, the Racken!, and a full spectrum LED covered chameleon shaped 4 person pedal powered art car, the Cyclomeleon.
These projects consume my life every summer.

It has 8 tentacles that surround the head. Each with 20 full spectrum LED 'suction cups'.

Awesome. The art work there was so cool. Not all, but some of those people really need to keep their clothes on.

Projects: Wife wanted a raised bed garden as opposed to our regular garden. (and in fairness, I get it. Our soil is clay. 10 years of working the soil, adding sand, adding dirt, adding ......I don't even remember what it's called, it's supposed to break down clay, adding peat, adding manure, etc. Our ground was still rock hard)

Okay. Got the wood yesterday. Then she's all "I'll help", and I know what that means: It's gonna take a long, long time. "Oh, those 4X4's are about a 1/4 " too long. Can you re-cut them? On and on.

Got the dirt today. Wife conveniently had to go uptown. So, I shoveled over 2 yards of dirt. Just waiting her approval or disapproval when she gets home.

You do some incredibly creative stuff. Darn impressive, that's for sure.

I am still struggling to get my "eye" all the way back, and have been drawing every day trying to do so .... but paper, pencil, pen, brush, ink, and airbrush are about as far as I go in art. You add full 3 dimensionality to your art, and that is (I imagine) far, far more difficult. You make your projects look really good though.

Thanks everyone. I've been a 2D artist my entire life. I'd not really ventured into the 3D realm other than Legos...I can build wicked cool stuff with Legos... until 2010. It was around then that I started working with aluminum and steel and in large scale. It's sometimes really scary to look at a pile of steel stock and think we have to shape it into the stuff we've envisioned.
Last summer we built a 21' humpback whale. I'd never built a whale before! Or even thought much about how to build one?!...Until we decided to build one. We used a 6" rubber bath toy as our scale model...then started bending aluminum rod. Two months later it was a whale. Who would have known I could do it, until I did it?
Never too old to learn or try new things.
