Uhmmmm.............my point was that we have had worse owners, yet the fans still support the team..........unlike LA fans. Have you read this site lately? Most aren't supporting this team like they did 5-10-15 years ago. Go read the Sashi and Paul threads.

I have. Have you?
Do you really think the Rams would get so much attention from their fan base if they go 17 years w/out even a single playoff victory and only one playoff appearance and firing coach after coach after coach and firing GM after GM after GM?
Shoot.............they could not even come close to filling their stadium when they were winning!!!

You make a lot of excuses for LA Ram's fans. We'll see how well they draw in about three years after the novelty wears off. I used to hate watching their games on TV.........it was like a morgue. Were you even alive when they were playing in LA?

The more I read, the more it seems like it's only going to be the Rams. That is a good thing.

Angel Stadium is a craphole. It was even more of a craphole when it was a combo stadium (baseball/foobtall). If it were my team, then I would still go to the games. But having a crappy team, that plays in a horrible stadium, with a bad owner is a deadly combo. I can't blame people for not supporting the team towards the end.

Its to the point that as a fan, if the feeling of an owner wanting to move begins, you can either check out, or fight till the end.
Bit in the end, what you do as a fan, means nothing.
Mayors can say whatever they want. You can start all the petitions you like.
But if an owner of a sports franchise wants to move? Its going to happen.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Just wondering if you ever went to a game at Municipal Stadium in Cleveland? I had season tickets there for years. Sat right behind a big freaking pole. Stood in a combination of piss and water in freezing bathrooms. Froze my ass off when the wind howled off of a nearly frozen Lake Erie. Watched the team lose a ton of games. And had to fight the crowds the entire time.
There is no comparison between the fans of teams like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Buffalo, the New York teams, Philly, Washington and the front-running so-called fans of the Rams while they were in LA.

I've never even been to Cleveland.
I agree that east coast fans are more intense fans (my entire family is from New York). LA fans still go to the games though. In droves.

I think LA fans have always loved the Dodgers and Lakers first and foremost. They got behind the Kings when they were winning. I think the Clips have drawn recent interest because of their star-studded roster. I think the Rams will attract fans if they win big. But, I think that Los Angeles fans always supported USC and UCLA more than the Rams.
But again...........I think the Dodgers are their most beloved team and the Lakers are the most fashionable team. I hate saying that in a way about the Lakers, because they still draw even though they are losing. It just seems to be a status thing.
But again...........Dodgers and Lakers are the two that have their hearts.

And another thing............I don't blame them.
I remember living in California. I had the beach and the mountains so close. It was grand. What do the people in Ohio have to catch their interest? Sports rule in Ohio and part of that has to be attributed to geography.

They love both the Dodgers and Lakers but the Dodgers rule. I thought it would be the other way around. And Dodger stadium is an absolute dump.

And Dodger stadium is an absolute dump. When was the last time you were there? They have really improved a lot of things. I consider it a gem (and I have been to a ton of stadiums).

You'd be surprised if you looked at the Kings and Clippers attendance numbers. They have always been pretty full. Kings fans are diehards just as much as the Dodger fans, there just aren't as many of them.
Ducks fans are by far the most fair-weather of them all. It's not close.

When the Steelers played the Rams that year in the Superbowl, I watched the game in a local sports bar. More people cheering for the Steelers than for the Rams.

The Rams were last in attendance in 2015. In St. Louis. I figured Jacksonville would of been the least in attendance. They're not even in the bottom 5.

It has been several years. We used to make it down for or two games a summer but it has been several years since our last one.

j/c Well this says it all about the poor St. Louis fans...
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, a real estate mogul himself, declared that everybody won. When asked if St. Louis fans won, his response was simple: "Well, somebody had to lose." Tone deaf, but accurate.

The Chargers announced they are playing in San Diego for the 2016 season and that they are going to try and work with the city to get a new stadium built.
Nothing like your team trying to move to get you hyped for the season!

Nothing like your team trying to move to get you hyped for the season! Seems to me the Chargers are doing it the right way. If SD wants tips on how to screw things up, call former Mayor White. It's all about stadiums for owners. There is big money in premium seats. SD has PLENTY of people who would gladly drop 4K or more per year on season tickets.

I understand that the owners want a new stadium. I'm just saying the fans aren't going to be all that pumped about a new season when the team spent 2015 trying to move. The Chargers have had trouble getting people to go to the games for about a decade now and this will not help.

I tend to think the same folks will show up. Maybe more.
Had Art said he was going to move the next season if the team wasn't supported by the fans and the city, do you really think the fans would have stayed home?
I don't. I know we like to think so, but other teams have fan bases as loyal as ours. The Chargers weren't considering a move because the fans weren't buying tickets. They need a new stadium to compete from owner standpoint. Owners have a billion or do dollars tied up.
I am not a big pro owner guy, but I am not a anti-owner guy. They are business owners. They want to build the business. You also have to consider how badly some cities want a NFL team. Those teams and games generate a lot of money for said city.
If you want a major league team, you can't stick them in a AA stadium.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

The Chargers were regularly blacked out and they had to use a silent snap count at their own stadium several times this year (because there were so many opposing fans).
Qualcomm is also a dump.
With all that said, I don't think they will get a new stadium in San Diego.

The Raiders in Las Vegas would be great. Imagine all the incoming away fans every home game. I know there's always been a concern about sports gambling with pro teams in Vegas, but with the internet and casinos in most cities, I don't see the big deal anymore.
Plus, the NHL and NBA have hinted they were interested in Vegas. I think there's going to be a pro team in Vegas within the next 5 years. Which league will be first is the question (I'd bet on the NHL unless the Raiders jump now)?
