Hiring a good personnel man isn't important. We really don't need a guy who can assemble a good scouting staff and make good picks. We just need to say we are cutting edge and have a HC who likes for the spotlight to shine on him. Why do we need to find good players? It's not really important.

J/C...
Well as it states they are able to block our request for the position cause even if we call it GM we are not hiring a GM we are hiring the HEAD of Personnel Instead.
SB will be handling the contract end of the business and negotiations with Agents.
The Personnel guy will be focused on one thing.
It appears we have pretty much two options.
Hire the guy with experience who has had difficulty getting a GM job not that they grow on trees so that he would take our dummied down GM position as long as he didn't want full control and just use us as a stepping stone. That would be the ex-Lion GM
The other option would be to promote within. Which I think would be the best option.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

If they are OK with the new role, then the new role isn't the problem. Their current team is allowed to block the interview, so they do. "Their current team" is allowed to block the interview because of the role so the new role is the problem. I knew when I wrote that, that I wasn't clear. I meant that if the interviewee is OK with the new role, then the role is not the problem.

This sounds interesting, I noticed a few Browns comments on other sights.
Falcons parting ways with Lionel Vital

In 2008, Lionel Vital was one of the first hires made by Falcons G.M. Thomas Dimitroff. Eight years later, Vital is the first major change the team has made in the wake of a recent indication from owner Arthur Blank that adjustments are coming.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Falcons have parted ways with Vital, who elevated from national scout to director of player personnel. Along the way, he was interviewed for the G.M. job in Tampa.
Vital had been an important part of the organization, with a keen eye for talent and a longstanding relationship with Dimitroff.
Vital has 25 years of experience in scouting and player personnel, working for teams like the Ravens, Patriots, Jets, and Browns. A running back as a player, he was a seventh-round pick of Washington in 1985. Permalink 9 Comments Feed for comments

He might be interested in our GM position since its a title upgrade if not a job responsibility upgrade that could help him gain a real GM job later on.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.
