So Hue says that he wants nothing to do w/Manziel? Is that right?
Brilliant first move. That should really help whatever trade value he had.
It's also unreal that people are celebrating that Manziel has failed w/the Browns. First round picks aren't important. Not nearly as important as personal grudges.
Do you really think we could get anything for a guy that no one can even find right now? Johnny is far too loose a cannon to bring enough value to bother with anymore if you ask me.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...
So Hue says that he wants nothing to do w/Manziel? Is that right?
Brilliant first move. That should really help whatever trade value he had.
He has no value. Also, Bootyface didn't say anything, that's just what the press is reporting.

Some may be celebrating. I am not one. I wanted to pick Manziel. I am celebrating that we won't be dealing with the Manziel circus anymore.

I think a lot of you really deserve the Browns.
Serious question with no agenda. If you were in the position, would you keep Manzeil? I personally think he has got the talent to succeed, but not the drive. Personally, I would part ways, just for the locker rooms sake.
I hope he goes somewhere else, proves all you know-it-alls wrong, and makes the Pro Football HoF
Thomas,
You must be new.
You are dealing with a fan base, dealing with people that:
Threatened to kill Marty Shottenheimer's dog. They threatened his family. (As per A Football Life)
Caused Bill Bellichick to get FBI protection to keep his family safe.
Tackle 8 year old child fans of the opposing team.
Caused Butch Davis to have a nervous breakdown.
etc...
Just be happy that Johnny's dog isn't hanging from the tree in front of his house.
Actually, the fact that this lynch mob has donned their white hoods bodes well for Johnny's future. The rest of those guys overcame our abuse.
Yep, Olskool711, I agree with you. I it hate that these sanctimonious holier than thous can kick a guy when he's down, wouldn't recognize brilliance if they were hit in the face with it, and are so smug about it all. They'll probably still be hating him 10 years from now (especially if he wins 7 Super Bowls, which I hope he does). And no, I'm not new, I've been a Browns fan for 55 years and have been on this board for several of its manifestations; I just don't post much and pretty much ignore most of the drivel on here, which it mostly all is. I love your take on JM and I only post to defend him. Thanks for that.
I like the Jackson hire. I feel much better about him than I felt at any time about Pettine. I know I could be wrong about this team for the millionth time, though. I was a fan until the end of Manziel. Now, I think that I just do not want to go into next season with him. He has talent, he's exciting and I think he could be good one day. But he is the kind of guy who will lie and break your heart. But, does it mean we really have to cut him or trade him for a fifth round pick? Why would it be so terrible to draft a new quarterback and let Johnny sit as a third stringer? He would be so humbled that it is hard to believe he would continue to be a distraction. And you never know what might happen in a season.
I'm not applauding cause he failed. That's what his groupies were doing. I am applauding because we aren't stupid enough to watch him do it again. That's progress for this team.
The first altercation Saturday occurred in a line to get inside the stadium around 8 p.m., just before kickoff. Police said it began when Jared McCarty, 19, of Reading, argued with a woman about cutting in line at an entrance gate and stole her Bengals hat.
McCarty, who wore a Bengals jersey, threw the hat away, police said, and the two groups separated only to run into each other again at their seats inside the stadium. The argument resumed in the stands and McCarty allegedly punched the woman in the head, causing her to fall to the ground, according to court documents.
Police discovered a fake identification card on McCarty upon his arrest. The teen admitted to drinking alcohol, police said.
McCarty is accused of falsification, underage drinking, theft, and assault. He was arraigned Monday and released on a $3,000 bond. The court also ordered him to stay away from and have no contact with the woman he's accused of assaulting, according to court documents.
A Steelers fan who traveled from Westville, Indiana, is accused of punching a woman in the face as he exited Paul Brown Stadium around 10 p.m. Tyler Matthys wore a Steelers jersey when police arrested him and accused him of the assault. His court date is not yet scheduled.
Martin Cooke, 33, of Germantown, Kentucky, was arrested after police said he urinated on the person in front of him in Paul Brown Stadium. Cooke, who wore a Bengals hoodie, is accused of fighting with the man and punching him in the face, court documents state. He is facing disorderly conduct and assault charges. Cooke was arraigned Monday and released on a $2,000 bond, according to court documents.
Police said David Grillo, 25, of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, walked up an aisle in the stadium and threw a beer at a fan during the game. Grillo was wearing a black jersey at the time, police said, and his Facebook page indicates he is a Steelers fan. The beer hit the fan in the face and caused lacerations, police said. Grillo is accused of assault. His court date is not yet scheduled.
A Cheviot man who wore a black shirt to the game, is accused of head-butting a man in the face. Phillip Ross, 29, was arrested at Paul Brown Stadium and is accused of assault. His Facebook page suggests Ross is a Bengals fan.
Andrew Robles, 28, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, was being ejected from the game for an unknown reason when, police said, he escaped officers and punched a woman in the face. Robles, who wore a Steelers jersey, is accused of assault. He was arraigned Monday and released on a $10,000 bond. The court also ordered him to stay away from and have no contact with the woman he's accused of assaulting, according to court documents.
So by my count, Olskool and ThomasE are the only two Manziel supporters left.
Hold strong!
I still support him.
I am supportive of his talent level/potential. The other aspects of his "game" leave me cold. You have to have both working together to succeed. Unfortunately I don't see that happening...
When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the losers...Socrates
All these rumors of Hue not wanting Johnny clearly has lessened the market for him. It's now one interested team instead of two and the value went from a conditional 7th to just a 7th. Damn Hue!
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
memp...It might be an option the Browns will consider, making Manziel a conditional trade...if he goes to a team and does well, his trade value goes up.
Serious question with no agenda. If you were in the position, would you keep Manzeil? I personally think he has got the talent to succeed, but not the drive. Personally, I would part ways, just for the locker rooms sake.
I don't know what I would do w/Manziel. I do know that I would not crucify because of a RUMOR. I would not get rid of him because an ignorant fan base doesn't like him.
I have yet to see a picture of him in Vegas. And even if he was in Vegas, that pales in comparison to the rumors about Kap, and we apparently are considering him. It pales in comparison to the rumors about Big Ben. And it certainly pales in comparison to the FACTS regarding Josh Gordon.
If I were on the inside, I would have a much better feeling if the rumors are true or overblown. I am not on the inside, so it is hard for me to say. I just know that I am not going to follow along w/the mob because of rumors that cannot be verified as factual.
Here are a couple of other ones that bug me.
Someone speculates that Manziel is acting out so he can get released and go to Dallas. No facts. No quotes. No proof. Just wild speculation. What happens next? People state it as fact, just like they are w/the Vegas rumor.
Manziel is a huge distraction in the locker room and doesn't work hard. Which players and coaches have directly said that? I heard some things last year, but this year it seems that almost all the guys being quoted were saying complimentary things. Yet, those rumors are stated as fact by the masses.
There are more examples..........I just am not one to blindly follow the mob. I am NOT saying that he doesn't have issues. I am NOT saying we shouldn't part ways w/him. I am NOT saying he is going to be a star.
I AM saying that I really don't know the entire truth and I would NOT dump him just because of the ignorance and hatred of public perception.
I recognize that he gets followed relentlessly and I wonder, if someone followed me around, could they take something innocent and turn it into something horrid sounding.
Some if not all of that, he brings on himself.
He's Young and bound to do dumb stuff (who among us hasn't done dumb stuff when young)
BUT, having said all that, I still think he's overstayed his welcome only from the stand point that he can't be trusted and it appears that he can't stay healthy.
He keeps getting hurt. Throw out all the off field stuff and just think of that and you can see he's just not the guy.
I'm not sure he could even be the guy until we find the REAL guy.
I guess that makes me one of those ignorant fans you spoke of.

The difference I see is that, yes I have done dumb stuff. Then when something negative happened because of it, I realized it was dumb and didn't continue to do it.

My concern about Manziel is his complete lack of commitment, and lack of leadership. Man, I listen to how Joe Thomas speaks about him, and I just get more and more concerned. Manziel decided not to follow the example set by McCown when he had his concussion, and sit in a box during the game. He chose not to be with the team prior to the game. He blew off his medical appointment with the team. McCown is a great example as far as leadership is concerned, and Manziel has decided to not be a leader. You played in college, IIRC ..... so what would you have thought if your QB had a concussion, and instead of being with the team for the final game, he went to Vegas to party? Then he posted a picture of himself with his dog on social media, implying that he was at home, but the picture was proved to be from months ago, unless, of course, the dog grew younger over time.
There is just so much smoke surrounding Manziel. While a little smoke could be ignored, the amount of smoke completely enveloping him cannot easily be dismissed.
Manziel may become a solid pro somewhere, but it's not going to be here. He is not willing to commit, completely, to being the very best he can be. He appears completely unwilling to do the mental work required by the job, and to set aside all of the kid games he is playing. He seems unwilling to accept that being a pro QB is a job, and requires constant work in order to improve and be all he can be. I suspect that there are some players on this team who are free agents, or could become a free agent, who are watching this situation very carefully. I bet that many players, even those who like Hue Jackson, might cross this team off their list if Manziel is allowed to play the games he has played so far in Cleveland.
That's my opinion, anyway. (and as you know, I was also one who was willing to give him a chance, and thought that he was worth the risk when he was drafted)

One thing is for certain, JF could kill an unicorn with a nuke, and people would still stick up for and support him. I've realized this.
To each their own, me though... hoping the rumors of Hue not interested in JF to be 100% true. No coach should be slaughtered, abused and hammered with intense pressure over their BACK UP Qb. Especially a new one.
JF doesn't belong in Cleveland, a city itching for staff and players they can rely on.
Sure, rumors are rumors, but Manziel rumors are big clouds that surround the occasional down-pouring of facts.
Look, I know the guy is young and I'm not dumb enough to think that he is the only one in the league out "having a good time". I was mostly with the crowd that blamed the media and wished people would just leave the guy alone. The bye week shenanigans put me over the edge... You don't make a commitment to your team and coach, NEGLECT that commitment, then LIE and COVER-UP what you did rather than face the music. That's not a "I'm young and just want to have fun" issue - that's a serious CHARACTER FLAW.
Football is secondary to everything else for "Johnny". He can't focus on getting better (at the hardest position in the NFL) for the 7 months of the year that he actually has to be accountable? C'mon man!
Buh-bye JF. I wish you well. You have the world in the palm of your hand, unfortunately you usually have a Four Loko in the other.

Very good post, YTown. I pretty much feel the same way. Time to move on.
Just to piggyback on Ytown's post, I don't think Manziel will stay, but that's just me guessing what Hue will do. If Hue thinks he can corral Manziel and help him pull his head out of his butt, then I say go for it. Hue seems to be good at working well with players, so I'll trust him to make the right decision on our problem guys. If he can turn Manziel and/or Gilbert around while keeping them here, that will be a HUGE win for him.
That said, there are a few things that worry me about Manziel's future here. He missed his medical appointment at the end of the year (for what reason we don't actually know for sure), which is the same thing he did last year. Also, he played a role in Gordon getting popped for alcohol (flying out to Vegas last year). The guy just doesn't learn. Him getting in trouble for the same thing as last year is a huge red flag. I'm REALLY starting to have doubts about the whole Vegas disguise thing, as the photos and video are long overdue, but the simple fact is the guy missed a requirement to be at medical heading up to the last game of the year, for the second year in a row, giving up a perfect record of 0/2 for not being a screw up to close out the year.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
Someone speculates that Manziel is acting out so he can get released and go to Dallas. No facts. No quotes. No proof. Just wild speculation.
"Wild" may be a bit overblown. Peter King reported it.
Manziel is a huge distraction in the locker room and doesn't work hard. Which players and coaches have directly said that? I heard some things last year, but this year it seems that almost all the guys being quoted were saying complimentary things.
Yes, a week before he was concussed, Joe Thomas and many others were quoting how much he appeared to be dedicated to football, dedicated to watching film and focusing on his craft. I am now pretending none of that is true so I can maintain my sanity when I'm reading this board.
I AM saying that I really don't know the entire truth and I would NOT dump him just because of the ignorance and hatred of public perception.
We all have a certain right to be pissed at him for his behavior. But, did the organization have to handle it like incompetent idiots? Do the fans have to revert to our old, tried and true, behaviors to destroy any chance of rehabbing him or getting good value from him in a trade? The answer appears to be hell yes! WE WANT OUR PIECE OF FLESH! We don't care how stupid our strategy in handling this is!
Vers, how much money did the Redskins bite the bullet on to keep Griffin on the sidelines for the past 14 weeks?
Why did they do it?
If we had a half a brain, the Browns would have handled this proactively, and somewhere down the line the end result would have been much more positive, much more productive.
It appears you can see that.
I'm wondering if our fanbase even knows what I'm talking about.

If it is true (and I think it is), it just might be a case of the casino wanting him back, and he probably wouldn't go back if they release videos or pics.

Football is secondary to everything else for "Johnny".
Fate...the Browns and football are not the first priority in Manziel's life at this time... and it does not appear that he has the internal strength to overcome his demons.
IMO, his addictions are more serious that anyone knew. He has a helluva fight facing him if is going to conquer his issues. I believe he needs to be closer to home, where he has the support of his family, especially if he should enter rehab again.
Being in Cleveland and expecting the Browns to deal with Johnny's problems didn't work last year. He needs the support of his mother and father, not a coach or a member of the front office.
