The biggest red flag on Hue is that you should expect a LOT a of penalties next year. He let his players have the green light on penalties to prove they weren't pushovers against Denver and Kansas City.

Here's hoping that Jackson and the analytics boys figure out that the distraction that follows Johnny isn't worth the headache. MAYBE he might someday be a viable NFL quarterback but he's a huge project and a lightning rod for bad press and distractions in the meantime. He's not very bright. Shoots himself in the foot and then asks for another round.

Jimmy Johnson: "Hit me in the head with a HAMMER the next time I sign a stupid player".

Well they don't come much dumber than Johnny....

The biggest green is I just read the Bengals scored 18 rushing touchdowns and had over 1800 yrds rushing. Seems we will be running the football next year.

Man, I went to work and we didn't have a HC, get home, and there's 7 pages of discussion about the new coach. Got me some reading to do.

So far I've read Prpl having Hue talk to Kevin Mack, then using one of my all time favorite expressions...Great googleymoogley!!

Back to the thread, which is already in progress.

See the scar on Jackson's right eyebrow? I'm not sure how the injury occurred, but he had to have skin grafted on to heal the wound. They took skin from his booty as the graft. Bootyskin. That's his nickname.

I admit when they fired yet another headcoach i was in the pitts a little bit/lot but man how can you not get exceited to finally have a top tier coach wanting to work with the Browns. That's right WANTING. I have a feeling he wanted this job as a means to compete against his mentors. Not as a thing of anger but as a thing of respect. Kind of like when you want to compete against your father to gain his respect.

The presser was by FAR the most amazing presser ever done by a HC since the browns return. He has got charisma soming out of him left and write. I mean I myself just wanted to pad up again and jump on that field to play for him and i haven't felt that excited a long time.

I want you guys to know that THIS coach is finally the real deal. We have our coach of the future and I truly believe he is going to do something special. I have never said that about a single coach we have had till this point either. I have always had guarded hopefulness. That is gone now.

MARK MY WORDS THE BROWNS HAVE THEIR COACH FOR THE LONG FORESEEABLE FUTURE AND HE IS GOING TO TRANSFORM OUR BROWNS INTO GREATNESS!!!

Alright, I'll start it.

Hue needs help. He needs a lot of help if he is going to be successful. This is a hell of a big job. I'm glad he's advertised as being Mr. Energy -- he's gonna need it.

The is such a big damn job.

If they get a top Def Coord (Swartz or better), a top Oline Coach, Keep the QB Coach, A surprise Off Coord, and a solid staff of position coaches, that will certainly help. Help a lot.

What specific qualities do those specific positions need to excel?

Our coaching always sucks. It just sucks.

We need to try and get the coaching right for once.

In order to turn this around and be successful Hue is going to have to become a Star. He is going to have to evolve into a coaching Star. Like Parcells did, Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, etc... Hue has got to have a driven passion to become great. Nothing less than that will turn this around, nothing less will get us in the playoffs consistently.

Does he have it in him?

Does he believe in and practice Camp Cupcake?

Should his defense play angry and try to hurt people? (since many do, especially in our own division) Its an important point - an important question.

So far I've seen the response "win" in the first few posts.

That's good.

He needs to win.

It appears to me his strengths are:

Motivation and getting players to play hard.

Well prepared.

Good offensive scheme to play to the strengths of his players.

Possibly, a good developer of a new, young, quarterback. (Screw Johnny, lets just throw him on the trash heep.) (Hey, I'm one of the guys. Thank God we didn't use our heads and get a second round pick for him!)

Can be a PR Star if he takes his time before he responds to things emotionally.

What has he got to do? Hope the structures being put in place can assemble some serious talent on the roster. Then he can be put in a position to excel at what he's been hired for.
With yet another pair of first round picks, we can't screw them up. Critical.

We only have one 1st round pick..

We have the first pick of the second round.. because New England was penalized for Deflategate.. and lost their 1st round pick.. the first pick of the second round becomes pick # 32.. which in normal years is a first round pick.

I like the hire, I like that we got it done quickly and he seems ecstatic to be the coach.
It's a great sign that players and coaches around the league have a lot of respect for Hue.

Change the losing culture

Find a QB

Give him weapons

Get better up front on defense

He'd better put a rush job on this laundry list. Because recent history suggests that he only gets about 24 months to show JH something.

I'd be willing to bet he makes it at least 8 games in to his 3rd season.

Not sure how I feel about this hire. I think he was a good candidate but not necessarily the best fit to the analytics set-up. I'll hold back on judging the guy before he does anything. I hope we keep JFF, but if we move on we move on. I just want to see the Browns winning again.

1) Not get fired in two years.
2) Contend in the division by year two.
3) Make the playoffs by year four.

He does have the advantage of already being very familiar with our division rivals, I think that's the best part of this hire.

OldCold .. I can't see how we can or would keep Manziel. Especially given Hue's no-nonsense type personality.

Well if we ship him, then we ship him. But I'm still a JFF fan and think he will eventually be a very good QB. I also do not think there is a QB in this draft class worth the high pick.

Get good coordinators who know how to use their players strengths to the teams advantage, and also know how to motivate.

Get a more aggressive front 7, which in my opinion starts with the Lbs. We need guys who intimidate and who will pop you in the mouth.

Need a quarterback. This where I hope analytics will help narrow down the choice of who we want to draft at qb.

j/c...

1. Presser on the Browns site...pressed play and had to download Flash...I clicked away I get to step 3 and it want me to join some cloud bs FOR $10 A MONTH so doesn't complete step 3...Still can't see the presser. And all I got was MacAfee downloaded which I did not want. Later I'll read that presser thanks PB.

2. I don't know him well enough to say I LIKE him or not. Pettine I knew from his years here in NY and had an automatic good vibe on him.

3. What PO's me is this Manziel bs. He never said it was one "REPORT" that from his Interview he does not want to have Manziel...report from who Grossi??? from just who.
He seems like a straight shooter and when asked he said he never said anything like that and he wants to get to the tapes of him before making any evaluations.

4. If Titans take Bosa first. What are the odds we take a highly regarded LT at #2 and trade away Joe Thomas for a couple of draft picks. NO I DON'T WANT JOE T Gone!!! Looking at it as a business perspective. 10th season got some wear and tear and a possible equal young and fresh could be had. On paper it could be a great move. Heart and Soul wise I think the vast majority here wants Joe T to play his career here and experience the possible good coming. Just putting that out there as a possibility.

5. I'm waiting for his hires. OC, DC and ST before I get excited - which is a new stance with me. I'm usually gung ho lock stock and barrel.

6. Hue Seems to be a media darling as they all have been gushing about him. Glad we got our primary candidate.

7. I am 99% guaranteeing that Hue is going to get his 3-5 years to put his program together for the long term. He did not have 100% dealings with Chud and Pettine on the hire it was ran mostly by Banner those hires. This hire is the works and results of Haslam - I think he gives this a commitment unlike the others. Plus he was the first choice.

8. Now I'm curious how we go with the Personnel/GM guy There hasn't been any talk on that. I know DeP is organizing the scouting department.

9. DC is important as Hue probably will be more involved with the O especially if he will be calling the plays. Do we go NEW or hire Old.

jmho probably more later

Find out what he has in players and coaches, change those that need changed.

Then Lead them.

If everything I've read and heard about this guy is accurate, he can lead and teach.

Hire the best Defensive coordinator, capable of building a Championship quality defense.

..I would like to see Hue keep DeFlip as OC, but that is probably a long shot.
