Man, I remember watching that when I was a kid.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

The most essential part of trolling is convincing your victim that either a) truly believe in what you are saying, no matter how outrageous, or b) give your victim malicious instructions, under the guise of help. Trolling requires decieving; any trolling that doesn't involve decieving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid. As such, your victim must not know that you are trolling; if he does, you are an unsuccesful troll.
Signs that your trolling is unsuccesful: *Your victim identifying you as a troll. *Identifying yourself as a troll. *Your efforts being ignored. *Being counter-trolled
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

Gotta love guys who kick people when they are down. Hello …a few points. 1) “classless” is a fair non-personal criticism 2) I honestly laughed at the video. I did not perceive personal attacks on Pet just a story of a nice guy in over his head. That is why I could not help but laugh. 3) Having met Pet in a professional non-football setting, and talking to my employees who have talked to him a bit more, he seemed like an honest man who fell into some denial about his defensive coordinator and defensive scheme misfitting. 4) I empathize with Pet. …hardest part of my job is telling an employee (especially one who is a friend) that their position is wrong and I am overriding. I took some losses because of my hesitation. Fortunately I am not sputtering in denial during weekly pressers. 5) All this said, those who wished for him to have another year as coach were also in denial in my opinion.

Signs that your anti-Semitism is unsuccesful: *You assign victimhood to someone without realizing your hatred does not label, but rather defines yourself. *Identifying yourself as someone who does not care if they are thought of as racist. *Your persistent, some would say "trolling," efforts are called out. *A Pee-Wee Herman counter-defense is offered whereby you laugh it off.

Farmer had gotten him a better QB or RB or ANY top flight WR... Or hadn't picked Gilbert, What if Haden has not gotten hurt and missed so much time.

in order to be a successful troll, you can't self-identify as one.
when somebody claims you're a troll, don't even respond to it. continue posting on the matter, for maximum emotional effect from the offended poster.

I wish Pet the best. I like the guy and wish it would have gone better for him here. Weeden was a decent guy, McCoy was a decent guy, Butch is a decent guy... we've had a lot of decent guys through here that just never worked out and they have subsequently been mocked and ridiculed... it's funny how some people feel doing it to Pettine is over the line.... It's either OK or it's not.

Yes and no. Weeden did some trash talking if I recall. I dont recall ever talking trash on Colt. I still think he could have done better had we (the Browns) supported him better.

I liked Pett and would have loved to see him have a year with a QB and a defensive guy who knew what the heck he was doing. Anywhoo, I thought it was funny. And a side note, there is absolutely no poster on this board who will ever garner an "emotional effect" from me, so use of the word maximum is really funny.

He would still have ran out of time at the end of the games because he kept all his timeouts. I think he thought they rolled over.. With me it wasn't the losses as much as it was this.. He did not have clock Management skills.. How does that happen? How do you get to be headcoach of an NFL team and not know how to manage a clock. The good coaches never had that problem. At least not every game

I'm not shedding a tear over Pettine leaving, but I think he should've had at least one more year. The guy was a super green rookie head coach. Even if you ignore the dunce that he had as a GM, I don't see how we can say, "he's a super inexperienced guy that will have rough spots as he learns on the job and well have to take the lumps as he learns" and then turn around and clean house 2 years later.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Being perfectly serious here, I think that Pettine's biggest problem (outside of the front office) was that he had no really experienced assistants, who could help him with things like clock management, bounce situational ideas off of, and so on. He had Shanahan last year, but this year he had an extremely young staff.
He had 1st time coordinators in Flip and O'Neil. He did have a couple of experienced assistants, but they were position coaches.Montgomery had solid NFL experience, but he was RB Coach. Deleone had a lot of college experience, but was in his 1st year as an NFL coach. Same with Phillips. O'Connell was also in his 1st year as an NFL coach. The TE coach had only 1 year in the NFL, when he came to the Browns.
That is a horribly young staff.
On defense, he had his buddy O'Neil. Weaver had a little bit of experience, but not a ton. Driesvbach had a lot of college experience, but only 1 year in the NFL prior to coming to the Browns. Fleury also had some college experience, but minimal NFL experience. Weaver had only 2 years NFL experience when he came to the Browns. Hafley had minimal NFL experience. Aaron Glenn had been a scout prior to coming to the Browns.
This was such a novice staff, and had little experience among the people Pettine was most likely to confide in, or ask for help on the sidelines. Like him or not, Shurmur did have Dick Jauron, who he could bounce things off of on the sidelines, if he needed to. He brought in Brad Childress as O/C. It didn't work, but at least he had experienced coaches to help him.
I really like Flip, and I think that he is a really good coach with a bright future in the NFL. However, I think that Pettine needed some more experience among his staff, on both sides of the ball. I think that really hurt him.

I think the firing was necessary. I also think he was compromised by some of the lunacy he had to function within. Pett is a solid individual IMO. I wish him well, and I will wonder how he might have done for us without a number of sidecar issues like Gilbert, JFF, runts, his DC and the like.
Good luck. Thanks for the efforts here.

I agree Bard. When the wheels start falling off less than half way through the season and you ignore the D... Well...you got to go. My guess on the D is, from hearing the players version of it, is each man on D was to look over the O and "guess" what his man was going to do. Only trouble with that is now you've got 5-6 D guys guessing what their man is going to do and the other 5-6 guys guessing something different. No wonder it looked like the keystone cops out there. Nobody could keep on the same page. If anybody has a different version then let me know.

Remember when Bill Belicheck was the HC and Nick Saban was the defensive coordinator for the Browns? What was their record over the years?
The franchise has been so dysfunctional at the top for so long that NO coach has been able to succeed. The Bengals were awful for 10+ years. Mike Brown couldn't figure out how to get out of his own way.
The Browns have been stuck in that rut since 1999.

YTown, I agree with what you said in your post. But when you think about it, Pettine was just flat out over-matched to sit in the head coach position just yet.
First, the only reason he was hired was because Banner pissed all the good candidates off and alot coaches did not think Chud got a fair shake! SO then, the Browns were left with whoever wanted the job. In comes Pettine.
So with a coach that had been BARELY in any leadership position and then a bunch of rookies for assistants, this was going to happen. Pettine will learn from this and maybe be alright later in life as a coach. But he was not ready for this position, nor did they surround him with a staff that had any experience.

Pettine is, most likely, sitting back and laughing his arse off at the antics of this dysfunctional franchise. Having been on the inside, he knows! Pheew...what a relief it is.........

But when you think about it, Pettine was just flat out over-matched to sit in the head coach position just yet. I think if Pettine had come into a situation like Tomlin did in Pittsburgh with a good team, stability, key positions locked up... he would have been fine. But those positions don't come available very often.. most coaches have to rebuild something to make a name for themselves and that, I do not think he was ready for.

Here is what I think:
--Browns fans loved Pettine. Called him the next superstar HC. Got mad when I criticized him.
--They loved them some Farmer. Got really mad when I criticized him.
--Screamed bloody murder when I said there was dysfunction between the two.
--Now, they say that Pet had to go because of the dysfunction between the two. LOL
--Hard to tell if Pet was a good coach or not. His team played hard to the bitter end. His team suffered from a lack of talent.
--The fans that backed him turned on him and called him "trash." Just like they do w/every HC who gets fired in Cleveland.

--The fans that backed him turned on him and called him "trash." Just like they do w/every HC who gets fired in Cleveland. That's a whole lot of generalizations about a large group of people.. I believe that if you look deeper into that group you collectively refer to as "Browns fans" you will find a much wider array of opinions than just.. you were right, everybody else was wrong. I had never heard of Mike Pettine.. I was skeptical but his resume looked pretty good and, as much as it shouldn't matter, he LOOKED the part. He said all of the right things coming in.. I was, at best, cautiously optimistic... yet still concerned that I had never heard of him and he had never been on any other teams radar for interviews or anything to that point... Farmer I was glad that we hired from within, I was glad that the Dolphins were also interested, that validated a little for me in that at least other teams knew who he was and were interested. I tried to dismiss the tension early on when you brought it up... slowly began to accept it. Firmly believed that it was rooted in the fact that the whole organization seemed divided on one Mr. Manziel... as time played out, realized that very few of Farmer's other picks seemed to be working out either.. And I haven't trashed either of them.. I've been critical, but I haven't trashed anybody...

Look.........the same crap has already started again over in PFF. People defending Haslam and acting like anyone who questions him is crazy.
It's ridiculous how many times certain people have been way off, but they never, ever stop belittling those who have a different opinion.
