Retained again! Mentioned elsewhere on the board, but admire him so much (not necessarily agree with), wanted to spread the word with new link.

Hated seeing him not make any corrections when all the blocked kicks were going on. I thougt Hue may finally be that coach that sends Tabor on his merry way, nope. Hopefully we don't see an encore of blocks and penalties again from our special teams unit.

Our special teams was not that good this year, the number of blocked field goals was nuts.

At some point, you have to start putting him up there with all the greats ... Kruger, Voorhies, Myers ...
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

His coverage units are excellent. Absolutely, but there's way too many mistakes made on special teams. That alone should have had him dismissed. Tabor is like teflon. If you look how many head coaches he's made it through, it's ridiculous. It's as if he dates Haslem's daughter. He worked for Shurmur, Chud, Pettine, and now he works for Hue? It's just ridiculous. Especially since he's not even that good. Every year i'm pissed at Special Teams

Hope the new coach leans on him to get better as well as players. The number of penalties and blocks are not top-shelf performance traits. But hopefully it gets crazy good.

Don't understand this. His Teams are always at or near the top. I have a feeling that the players he was given to work with were out of his control. Erving was a constant and not very good. I think Pet forced him on Tabs so he could get some experience. He is an excellent coach.

Tabor is a good coach, I don't remember many big returns against us on special teams. What makes him look bad is when Benji gets the dropsies and the field goal blocks are a combination of certain players getting blown up on the line and coons kicks too low a trajectory especially on longer kicks.

His first few years here I din't like him much...was disappointed when he was hired under Pet.
But the last two seasons I thought he did a pretty good job. Outside of the blocked FGs the ST was pretty on top of their game. I don't remember too many long returns - our coverage scheme was well executed. We kept most kickoff returns under the 20 line and usually no more than the 25.
So I don't mind this rehire. The only one I was pretty down on was O'Neil. Tabor here is just fine.

Considering how awful the talent on our roster is, I think the Special teams unit overachieved.

My only problem with special teams lately has been the blocked FGs this year.

Considering how awful the talent on our roster is, I think the Special teams unit overachieved. I agree, except for one major irritant: [Jimmy Donovan]: "Benjamin... slips a tackle- breaks to daylight... he's got room...." [Doug Dieken] "Oh... he might-" [JD]: "He's across the 40, 50... down the sideline... one man to beat- Travis Benjamin out of bounds on the [insert team's name here] 37... a 43-yard return!!![DD]: Uuuuugh... there's a flag on the field..." [referee]: "Holding/Illegal block in the back. Number (who cares? It's a different one each time). 15 yards from the spot of the foul. First down." ...on the Browns' 18 yard line. Our coverage units are routinely one of the best in the league, but there's something missing in the way they are coached up for returns. This happens way too often on big gainers... and it's happened so consistently over the years, I HAVE to consider that somehow it's Chris' problem. The blocked FG's this year bothered me for sure... but they've never been as consistent a problem as those damned flags on big returns. Something's up with the way these guys are being coached. Fix that, and we could add 1-2 wins to our seasonal record every single year. .02

What is the news on Flip? Flip is interviewing with the Rams as their passing coordinator; apparently Fisher wants to have two separate coordinators, one for running and passing.

Clem, I am not sure how many other games you watch, but holding calls and/or illegal blocks in the back are extremely common place in all NFL games. You have a lot of fast guys running long distances and changing directions. It's a tough situation.
I am not a Tabor fan, but the Browns could do a lot worse.

Isn't the QB coach the passing coordinator and the RB coach the running coordinator? Is this the year of new positions and titles everywhere in the NFL or is it just the Browns? smh

That would bum me out... Why? Hue wants to install his O. Once that is done, I suspect he will promote someone in to a traditional OC role.

In his first season as an OC, he did an admirable job. He could further improve absorbing HJ's experience. Down the road, Flip will be an HC, should he wish...

The problem I had with Flip was the Red Zone.. Browns TD Pct in the Red Zone was last in the league in 2015 ... around 38%. So, while I wish him well, I'm not upset he's leaving. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/red-zone-scoring-pct

We might be the only game in town for Flip, so maybe he would agree to have Hue call the plays and he would do a lot of the preparing of the Offense.
I don't mind Hue calling plays cause he seems to be very good at it. But I would like to have somebody of FLips value to take a lot of weight off of Hue so that he can be the HC.
Did we say we were going to hire a Run Coordinator, I read here?
I would love to keep most of the O asst. here.

Flip has been told that his contract has been terminated. (though he will still be paid) That is different than telling a guy he has permission to look for another job if he likes.
Flip is gone.

Hue said he isn't going to hire an OC.
I am hoping we get a couple of larger WRs. It would be nice to have a combination of larger, stronger WRs and smaller, quicker guys.

I can't even begin thinking what is needed. I like the Hue decison debatable whether we upgraded or not. Something tells me Browns moving back to what Big Money...errrr....Holmgren thought was best for Cleveland. Pettine and Mangini are more my style of football. But, I can learn to like if Hue wins!!!! I just noticed we are talking receivers in Tabor's post. Sorry to the lead.

Seems like every decent kick return we had this year was nullified by a block in the back. How hard is it NOT to recognize when you are hitting the guy in the back? Geez, yeah lets keep him our special teams were special...not.

What more do you want?;) I think Farmer had this thing for the small guys. As we move forward, I agree, it would be ideal to have a healthy combination.
