More laws thats the answer...how in the world would more strict pot laws reduce illegal firearms?? The war on drugs is working so well..

Here Swish thought you would find this interesting...I thought of you actually when I read it..

Next question: So it's OK for you to break the law daily with your drug of choice (suggested by your own sig on this forum and admissions) but it's not OK or accepted for law abiding citizens to legally own guns ? I might suggest that your very own suppliers are those who may....operative word = MAY, illegally own weapons to protect their dealing habits.

I bring it up because you prefer as close to a gun free society as possible. Interesting how the two don't mesh.

Your answer : yes, i would give up pot for a gun free country. This tells the tale of how strongly you feel. So don't go off sayin "I never said no one should own guns". It's the implication within your answer that speaks for itself.

Would be an interesting study. Which would have a higher crime rate? Who would the gun free people call for protection? They would call people with guns.

What I find funny is people will openly admit that by the time you realize that an intruder has entered your home, police response time won't prevent anything that will happen next.

Let's suppose for just a moment that the police response time is pretty quick where you live. Let's say 10 minutes. Once a burglar has entered your home, isn't it most likely that the confrontation between you and that burglar are going to happen in less than 10 minutes?

While I have nothing against the police, they are there after the fact in the vast majority of cases. The same can be said in public cases of theft or assault. Either the public has a right to use guns to defend themselves or they don't.

I am willing to give up my guns when the anti gunners are willing to pay to station an officer at my house and to walk with me when I go to the park.

See, real compromise right there.

The going rate for an Off Duty Officer in my neck of the woods is $35/hr...

In my experience, anecdotally speaking, I'd say I've arrived at the scene of a crime AFTER it occurred... about 95% of the time. Maybe 3% of the time the suspect left within a minute or 2 of my arrival, and a shade under 2% of the time, the reported crime is still in progress when I get there. Around 0.000001% of the time I'm riding around on patrol and I see something that makes me say to myself "Holy crap! There's a crime going on... someone should call the cops!... Oh wait...."

And that's not an indictment of the police. It's just the nature of things. The police can only respond AFTER they've been notified of the situation and once they have traveled to the location of the crime.

It's simply a matter of logistics.

And let me add, this says nothing about people who live in very rural areas. The response time there can be a VERY long time depending on just how rural they are.

That's the problem with the gun control people. They really aren't taking into account all of the viable real life scenarios at hand.

No offense to cops - BUT, cops take reports when a crime is involved. They don't stop the crime, they take reports and file paper work.

Speeding, etc? Yeah, they cite the speeder.

But stopping crime? Cops don't stop crime, they show up after the fact to take reports/make reports.

Oh, I didn't view it as an indictment (well played, a little legal humor I see .!).

I just wanted to provide a little more illustration for those who may base their gun control agenda on the premise that the cops can protect you.

Something I don't think people realize (thankfully!) is that the biggest part of my job relies on the hopes that the overwhelming majority of people will act civilly and not try to victimize their neighbors. There's somewhere close to 800,000 cops in the U.S... and the number shrinks when you start factoring out admins, detectives, etc. I think the average citizen to on duty cop ratio is around 5,000-8,000 to 1.

Well, yes and no... proactive policing (going around, looking for suspicious people looking in to cars, buildings, hiding out behind gas stations waiting to rob people actually prevents and deters a lot of crime. Now, it's impossible to provide statistical data as to how many crimes are prevented, but there is data to show a correlation between decreased levels of proactive policing and increases in crime. The "phenomena" is also referred to as the Ferguson Effect.

BTW, proactive policing is also known as harassment...

The county I live in is 420 sq. miles. Around 30,000 citizens. There are 2 to 3 deputies on duty at any given time (road patrol duty - the guys that are going to come to your aid should you make a 911 call)

We are a rural area, obviously. And, in an emergency, neighboring counties would send deputies, the highway patrol may as well. In an emergency, as in "someone is breaking into my house", or "someone is in my house" situations.

your argument makes zero sense.

you can't point to where i say i don't want people armed. what i have said was i'm not for irresponsible gun ownership. that my stance on weapons.

so you choosing to twist my position around shows you don't actually pay attention to anything i post.

yes, i think most people would choose a gun free society if the justice system can guarantee that minimum deaths would occur from gun violence.

you're saying you want as many people in the movie theater armed as possible? that's the ideal society you want to live in?

that people need to be armed to the teeth because we have so many dirtbag in this country, that's ok to you?

you and i have very different idea's of what a nice place to live is.

yes, i'd absolutely give up pot for a free gun society, because i'm willing to give up whatever personal vice i use for the good of the community.

i know people on this board don't give a damn about the man/woman beside them. i know you and others don't care for the good of our community, it's every man for himself ideology on this board.

but i'm different. i care about people, everybody.

oh and BTW, i don't understand why people are attacking me with regards to pot and illegal weapons.

i wish they use those illegal weapons to pop those teachers you work with everyday that touches and takes advantage of students and molest little kids.

can you point to a post where i say i don't want citizens to own weapons?

thanks in advance.

you guys are pulling statements out of your asses again.

What is wrong with a movie theater full of armed patrons?

It's a false assertion that the more guns there in one place, the more people that will get killed.

How many deaths at an NRA rally?

I've been to trainings where there are 200 armed cops in the same room... have yet to witness a murder...

How many murders occur at gun ranges every year? or gun shows?

I understand that you are against irresponsible gun ownership. Hell, I garuntee being in the Army you saw soldiers who had no business with a gun. But lack of guns does not equal responsible gun ownership.

everything is wrong with a movie theater full of armed citizens.

if you think it's fine, then more power to you.

i simply don't agree.

we got way too many people wanting to be hero's. guns give people the feeling of power, and we see for too often in this country people wanting to exercise that power.

i look at the shooting of those teenagers in the car by the guy who was pissed because their music was too loud.

wtf is that. seriously.

lack of guns doesn't equal responsible gun ownership. i agree, but that wasn't my point.

more guns doesn't equal responsible gun ownership either.

once again, your post makes no sense.

you're not armed for illegal drug use, you're armed because you want to protect yourself.

you're trying to make this about something not related at all.

see, there's no double standards my way.

but if you wanna cry some more about the weed use, you, Vambo, and FBH can call the cops if you wish.

you guys do a lot of complaining about my weed use but never do anything about it.

call the cops, or shut up.

Ive never called the police on anyone..especially for something as dumb as smoking pot. Matter of fact Ive said repeatedly I'm pro-marijuana...

So idk why you'd put my name in there...I asked a simple question..but come to think about it..as petty as weed smoking is..You are in essence a criminal. You break the law and like to chastise idiots who shouldnt own guns...well maybe you should heed your own advise...get rid of your guns before you do something stupid while high as a kite...

see, this is why people need to read their post out loud before clicking submit.

i've explained over and over that i got rid of my weapons already.

so when you throw insults, you gotta make sure their relevant to the subject.

it would be like me saying to you "you never been to israel", even though you already stated you have.

that's what you just did. you told me to get rid of my guns before i get high as if i still own my weapons...even though i already got rid of them.

the insult doesn't work. get back to the drawing board and try again.

in essence i'm a criminal? sure.

but i don't shoot up abortion clinics.

i don't shoot up schools.

i don't shoot up movie theaters.

or government buildings.

or molest children.

my weed use doesn't violate the rights of others. idiots with guns do on a daily basis, though.

but if talking about myself and weed use is what helps you and others sleep at night and feel good about yourself, have it at it. i'm here to please.

so once again, since i'm a criminal, you, Arch, Vambo, 40, and others who have a problem with the weed i use, call the cops.

need my address? ill pm it to you guys.

So all those innocent people who are tortured to death by the Mexican drug cartels in order to get you your weed have no rights?

All the innocent killed when the Cartels shoot up towns,
Shoot up schools,
Shoot up movie theaters and government buildings,
and molest children,
Dumping their heads in the streets,
All to get you your drug of choice,
But you say your hands are clean???

Shame!

my weed doesn't come from cartels.

it comes from a guy who grows his plants in a basement.

it's ohio grown, basically. the only other weed i've bought was in colorado when it was legal, thus not being from cartels.

see, you guys keep trying and trying, but you have nothing on me.

i'm very conscious about where i get my bud from. how hypocritical would it be of me to be in the military, doing 8 years of service and fight terrorism....just to indirectly support terrorism?

i get my bud from a white guy on the westside with a huge ass house now. i made the switch a few months ago from buying bug in the hood.

keep trying though guys. soon you might stumble across something that will stick. keep going!! i believe in you!!!

and you know what's awesome too?

God invented weed. your christian God that you said is all powerful? he created weed.

which means i'm more holy than you. so you can take your morals and shove it. now go kick rocks.

You absolutely have double standards.

You break the law every day - according to you. Maybe it's just twice weekly?

You do something that is illegal, and you gloat about it.

I do something that is legal, or millions of others do something that is legal, and you want us all to have to undergo even more background checks.

That, swish, is a double standard.

As you say, gun owners are legal until they do something illegal. Driving a car is legal until you drive it while high. Perhaps you should have to undergo a better background check before you get your license renewed so the state can be "sure' you aren't a drug abuser. Yes? No harm no foul - prove you don't abuse drugs, then you can get your license renewed.

Look, quit calling me out about "crying about your pot use" - it's a non starter argument. I don't care if you smoke pot.

But for you, in a later post, to insinuate illegal drugs don't beg of gun abuse is literally absurd. Your argument that you buy pot from a guy that grows it himself? Neat. You also said you started buying from him AFTER buying from some guy in the hood. You, sir, have contributed to violence. By buying in the "hood", by buying from some white guy (why does race matter?????)

Yeah, you have double standards, you just try to explain them away.
