I would guess it does. Kaepernick struggles when he has to look past his first read. That is made easier with Kelly.

Kelly hasn't been able to access an entire portion of his playbook because he hasn't had a mobile QB worth anything (Vick was shot at that point).

Seems like a pretty good match.

I don't get this hire. Harbaugh was fired because he wanted to much control. Chip Kelly any different? Why did the fire Harbaugh? This won't last long!

Kelly doesn't have any control over the roster.

Harbaugh was fired because he is a maniac and hard to be around (rumors say Kelly is similar).

So, that makes it even more odd doesn't it?

Yet, Browns are labeled dysfunctional! Not saying it is not true. This hire proves other teams following Jimmy's lead!!!!!

SanFran is dysfunctional, but still got the the SB and NFC title games.

we are just dysfunctional with the added bonus of suckage.

I think San Fran is actually in more disarray than the Browns are. I think Baalke is a power-hungry idiot. What a combo he and Kelly should make. LOL

If Kelly can win with the roster they have, then he may very well be the great coach in the history of football.

All I know is that the internet does not agree with this hire.

The best case scenario I can think of is that Kelly is actually Mangini 2.0 in that he suddenly found himself making personnel decisions when he had no business doing so. Going to a situation with an entrenched GM might be good for him to just focus on coaching.

I still think Chip is a great coach. Hopefully for him and San Fran, he has learned some valuable lessons on the personnel side and just management in general. I think he will do well in San Fran, obviously there is some risk there given how this past Eagles season turned out, but there is some risk with any coach that can be hired. All the slam dunk coaches are already taken.

He had his introductory press conference today.

http://coachingsearch.com/article?a=Nick...rs-introduction

"“When I was let go in Philadelphia, to be at home and get a call from Bill Belichick or Tony Dungy or Jon Gruden or Bill Parcells or Bill Polian, it made me feel good that there are people in this game that truly care about where the game is going and what this league is all about, telling me, ‘I hope you stay in the National Football League.’ That meant a lot to me. I want to publicly thank them for their support.""

That was a pretty interesting comment in today's presser.

Comment made or not - I'd have that toss between heartburn and the stomach you have during a hardcore hangover if I were a San Fran fan with that there hiring lol.

Granted, Kaepernick fits his pistol-like offense, Bradford with multiple knee surgeries obviously did not. I would not like the hire...

I'd have much more of a problem with their GM instead of Chip. They weren't going to be a good team until the GM leaves, but, with Chip, they now have an outside chance.

Vrabel declines San Fran's DC job. If you thought the Browns were the most dysfunctional then you haven't seen the 49ers the past three years.

Mangini just needs to land in a stable environment. I think he is a good coach, but he just got handed a defense that lost four of its best players (Smith, Smith, Borland, and Willis). Tough job.

Agreed. I think he is a good DC and he got dealt a pretty bad hand going into the season.

would think the couple of years he spent on the offense side of the ball would make him better. add to that when he was with espn dealing with people... who knows? maybe he learned people skills too.

Hard to tell if he's a good DC or not. Two seasons as a DC, one with a Belichick safety net.... He's unproven as a DC.

I feel bad for Tomsula. Given the circumstances, I don't think he did a bad job. They featured him on Sky (I'm from the UK) and his career and I've always liked him. I hope he gets another gig, I think he's a very good coach and man manager.

The 49ers situation is worse than we ever thought. They are trying to hire Jim O'Neil as their defensive coordinator.

Are you even serious? They must be desperate and then some asking about O'Neil. That place is in shambles.

I agree with all this.

I have a soft spot for the guy. Does a lot of work with special needs kids, and I have a special needs daughter. Always liked him since I learned that.

The NFL is full of successful coaches who had failed or were fired by another team.
