That will be a big deal with scouts if he gets over the 220 mark.

This may surprise you guys, but I don't really agree w/that. It's a factor, but not a deciding one. My biggest issues w/Goff is a two-pronged thing:
Decision making coupled w/not elite arm strength.

If we do take a QB at #2...I think Wentz also is the guy, not sure if I would think the others could be it.
If at #32 I think our guy is Cook we could move up to get him.
I will defer to our new Mind set, with Hue having the biggest say in this.
I would not mind building this team around Wentz.

jmho I think we are leaning toward Wentz as well. He is a better fit for Hue's offense. I think Cook would be a very poor fit for Hue's offense and don't like that pick at #32 at all.

If we do take a QB at #2...I think Wentz also is the guy, not sure if I would think the others could be it. Last night I spent some time watching Wentz. I just don't see it yet. He throws these high passes that seem to take awhile to get to his receivers. I'm definitely going to have to watch more before I'm sold. I'm not a nut about arm strength, but I have to be able to check a box off that basically says "NFL Starting QB Arm Quality Arm Strength", and I can't do that with Wentz yet. Maybe I'll look for Senior Bowl tape. I like his athleticism, size, and I like that he plays in a pro offense. But I am not seeing an NFL arm yet. Playing in Cleveland, arm strength is important to me. The team plays on the lake. It's constantly windy. That's what I've noticed. And as the season gets later and later, from my experience (I've spent a fall working on the Great Lakes), it gets colder and windier on that lake. It only gets harder and harder to throw that ball. I guess I'm going to have to watch more video of him before I can be sold on this big arm of his (and all the draft sites says he's got a bigger arm than Goff), but I have not seen it out of Wentz yet. I'm moving toward Paxton Lynch right now, he is athletic and seems to have the kind of arm I'm looking for that will take advantage of our stadium

I agree about Goff's arm strength but I think his decision making is okay. I can see I wasn't clear. My bad. I wasn't arguing w/you guys that scouts feel that way. I was only speaking of my personal evaluations. Sorry about that.

Really have no idea where you are coming from regarding Wentz's arm?
I have watched all his games. Read numerous scouting reports from all kinds of people who have covered Wentz including professional scouts.
Nobody has questioned his arm.

Just watched Wentz as a junior against Coastal Carolina.
The fourth throw of the game is a deep out. The throw is a clothes line right on target. There are also some deep throws in the game. Arm strength is not an issue.

Wentz has an awesome arm, but I don't think it's as good as Lynch's or Cardale Jone's arm. It's better than the rest of the QB's in this draft though.

The difference between Wentz and Lynch is "the release". Their arm strength may be close; not totally sure there. But Wentz has a more compact and quicker delivery.

To me wentz takes too long to make a decision to throw and seems to often just causally throw the ball.
Paxton has elite ball placement and can throw on a ripe from all kind of crazy positions. To me Paxton is the ONLY QB almost worthy of being taken at #2.

I don't think any of those guys are close to being worth the second overall pick, but I agree that Wentz processes slower. Slow reads are dangerous, both in terms of taking sacks and getting picked.

i really see wentz goff and lynch similar to Bortles. there is somethign to work with but its a heavy risk involved. you really need to do your tire kicking on these kids. find the right fit for your team and your offense.

Memphis QB Paxton Lynch will throw at the Combine.
Lynch is the second of the three projected first-rounders to commit after Jared Goff made his decision earlier this week. Both players weren’t eligible for the Senior Bowl, but should improve their stock at the Combine. Lynch is competing with Goff and Carson Wentz to be this year's top quarterback.

Just wondering how people view these QBs..
Ranking them by..
Highest Ceiling Highest Floor Time needed to Develop
For example, in my limited knowledge of these QBs, id do this..
Highest Ceiling Lynch Wentz Goff Prescott Hackenberg Cook
Highest Floor Goff Cook Hackenberg Wentz Prescott Lynch
Time needed (Most to Least) Lynch Wentz Prescott Hackenberg Goff Cook
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

FWIW.... Grossi: I had a national draft analyst tell me Goff is higher rated than Mariota and Winston, at this point of the process. https://twitter.com/ESPNCleveland
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Interesting post. A fresh take. I like it.
I will just do your first two sets of criteria because you can pretty much determine the Time Needed just by analyzing the top two categories.
I also am going to leave out Prescott [I don't feel I am educated enough about his game to comment w/integrity] and Hackenberg [because I wouldn't draft him under any circumstances.]
Highest Ceiling Lynch Cook Wentz Goff
Highest Floor Goff Cook Wentz Lynch
Ranking the "Floor" was pretty easy. Ranking the "Ceiling," other than Lynch, was hard.

So you have Cook #2 in both.. I take it that means you are a fan of his?
Do you take him at #32? Higher?
He's, I think, the most "confusing" prospect out of all of them..

No, I'm not really a fan of his. LOL
Like I said, it was hard to judge their ceilings, other than Lynch.
I do think he might be worth a shot at 32, though. I haven't given that much thought, until now.
If the Browns draft one of these guys.......I think they should draft Lynch.
My problem w/Lynch is that he definitely has the lowest floor, so that makes him very risky.
Look........I will use this opportunity to articulate something: lamp said he respected my opinion on a Super Bowl thread and that he has changed how he looked at this year's qb because of it.
While I think the point I was making about protection and pressure was a fact and not an opinion on that thread.......evaluating college QBs is just an opinion, and I didn't mean for anyone to trust me on these guys. I try to use what I know about the position, but in the end, it's just a guess.
With that said.......if I were the Browns, I would not use the second overall pick on a qb this year. Just my opinion.....nothing more.

If I knew Joey Bosa was going to be a JJ Watt type player (who went 11th btw) I wouldnt even be interested in a QB at 2 honestly.
I really like Treadwell, but understand people not want in him at 2.
Hell if Tennessee takes Bosa, there's a huge argument for Tunsil at #2. Present and future.
I don't believe a guy like Hue is going to take a QB at #2 just because we need a QB.. So if he believes in a guy that much, I will get behind d it (like I have a choice right?)
There are many options for us. Just because SD drafts Bosa and he's great doesnt mean we made the "wrong" one.. you just have to make shr the choice you make is right..

I seem to recall, going into the 2014 draft, that many mock drafts had the big 4 QBs (Carr, Bridgewater, Bortles, and Manziel) going in the top 10-15 picks, many had 3 going in the top 5. As it turned out, only 1 went in the top 15, then it wasn't until we reached for Manziel that another came off the board. Oakland, who many had taking a QB at #5 took ILB Mack instead and still got Carr in the 2nd round.
Maybe it's SB hangover (how much the defenses dominated that game), but I'm thinking that there isn't going to be as much of a rush for QBs at the top of the draft as the mock experts seem to think. I've been believing the Browns are going to draft a QB at 2 regardless of what we say and argue about here. But now I'm thinking, with the dominance of defense in the playoffs and SB, and the strength of this draft in defensive players, that the QBs in this draft aren't going as quickly as I've been thinking, and that there will be at least 1 of the top 3 still on the board at #32.

You should change your name to W84NxtRndAgain!
But you're right, these quarterbacks always seem to fall. I want one, and if they think Wentz or Lynch is the real deal, I'm for grabbing him at No. 2. But if they think there's a dark horse, then no need. Wait for second round, or trade back up.
I am just SO HAPPY it is not Ray Farmer making this decision. The guy wasted at least 3 and maybe 4 first round picks in TWO YEARS. How can you be that incompetent? If he was a doctor, he would like kill everyone. If he was president, he would be .... oh, never mind.

Unless we're trading Joe Thomas, there's no argument for Tunsil. We'd be the offensive line version of the Lions when they had Matt Millen.

The argument is, that if Schwartz leaves, as in, we try to re-sign him, but he goes somewhere else anyways.. You take Tunsil, and put him at RT until JT decides to Han them up, securing the LT spot for another 7-10 years..

Also, why is Tunsil > Stanley unanimous? Stanley reminds me of Joe more than any other OT in this class.

Albeit, it's nothing but a backup plan at this stage.
