A more close reading will tell you that what killed the first born wasn't a 'plague'. They were just killed.
An even closer reading will tell you that God hardened Pharoah's heart in order to 'get himself a name in the earth'.

God didn't invent those plagues, he used what was already available to him.

Like I've always said, if everything went according to God's original plan we'd all be sitting naked under a tree right now.

God is the top mass murderer in history. He has no problem with killing off the entire world if needed to keep his name in the papers.

Everyone forgets that very first commandment. That is the one that really gets him angry and riled up. Look at America as all the proof you need. As more americans put what they want as the most important thing instead of what would God want we are a country in free fall to destruction.

Where sin abounds, God's grace abounds more.

People seem to have this idea that God is going to punish people on earth, but I don't know that I believe that. Too many people who are anything but Godly wind up rich beyond most people's dreams. There have been people who have used religion almost exclusively to advance their own interests .... and many have succeeded.

Sin is no guarantee of material ruin, and living a wholesome life is no guarantee of living a prosperous, happy, and healthy life, free from tragedy for you and/or your family. This world is a sinful world. 1 John 5:19 tells us:

"We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one."

1 John also tells us that there has been an Antichrist, and in fact, by John's time, numerous Antichrists had already appeared.

This is a sinful, fallen world. It is in the clutches of evil. Fortunately, where sin abounds, God's grace abounds even more. Anyone who humbles himself, comes to the foot of the cross, and follows Christ, will be immediately saved. Those who do not, will be lost.

This world is a very temporary place. Our time on this earth is even more limited, and we never know when it will end. Anyone of us could live another 50 years, or be gone before I hit "submit". What we do on this earth doesn't matter once we leave here, other than whether or not we accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior. Thus, I don't think that sin causes any "punishment" here. I think that the punishment for sin is once this world ends, and it is more serious than any supposed punishments that happen here.

I hate hippies and love fests, but God is going to punish me because of them.

When trouble strikes, God's people pray. Not just for themselves but for everyone. God's people also suffer with the non-believer.

Has anyone here not read the book of Exodus? Those plagues weren't a warning, God explicitly said he was going to harden Pharoah's heart in order to show his power.
If those words were spoken in the New Testament they would've been in red if ya know what I mean.
Now if you want to talk about 'warnings', it's said that Jeremiah preached for 40 years (not you 40 ) warning the nation of Israel about their idolatry, child sacrifice and immorality before he finally had enough and marched them all the way to Babylon, but before they left Nebuchadnezzar killed the kings sons right in front of him and THEN put his eyes out.
I'd say that all of the eloquent postings on the gospel from Y-town and others plus all the preachers who've been warning about God's wrath since way back when ought to serve as warning enough.

God is angry with the wicked, but He also loves them, and His MERCY is holding His wrath back FOR NOW. God has always given long grace periods before sending judgement, because He does not take pleasure in people dying and perishing. (God is the one who invented Grace periods) It would seem to me that we are probably near the end of this current "Grace Period"

God also sends many warnings before He judges. There will be seven Trumpets (warnings) before the seven vials (wrath). But the world will not understand, because of the hardness of their hearts.

Not everything bad that happens is from God. Many bad things happen as a result of our actions and or the fact that we live in a fallen world...NEVERTHELESS....


It is because of His great Mercy that we are not consumed. But justice delayed is not judgement denied. He is patient towards us, not willing that any of us should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the Day of the LORD will come as a Thief in the Night. And as it was in the Days of Noah, so it will be in that day. For they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up until the day that Noah went into the ark, and they did not understand what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. So shall it be in the Day of the Coming of the Son of Man (Jesus)

You should probably reread Job. Might have just been a long time ago for you.

Many viruses and diseases are a result of the effects of a fallen world that we live in. In addition, as we before stated, many things are not final judgement, but are rather warnings to get people's attention.

It is sometimes difficult to discern whether a calamnity is sent from God or is just part of the fallenness of our world. But it does not matter. In everything, God is stretching out His hands to us just as He was in the days of Noah. In those days, He said "my Spirit will not always strive with men". This is a warning to us all.

We can play with God's grace like Pharoah did and pay the price or we can pay attention and be saved like Moses I used to be like Pharoah and deserve Hell a billion times over, but God had mercy on me. He didnt have to, I could have died a long time ago. So I know God is merciful. I also know that to presume on His mercy is perilous, for none of us is guaranteed to wake up tommorow or even be alive in five minutes.
