Ted Cruz's Hugely Expensive Plan for a Huge Military http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/arch...tm_source=yahooCruz said he would cancel President Obama’s plan to shrink the Army to 450,000 by 2018, and he said the nation needs a minimum force of 525,000 soldiers. He promised to increase the Navy from its current 273 ships to 350, the largest fleet in recent memory. He wants 12 new ballistic-missile submarines. He wants to increase the Air Force by nearly 20 percent, from around 5,000 planes now to 6,000. Mentioning the increasing centrality of drones to American military operations, he said the force of drone pilots needs to grow. He vowed to expand missile-defense systems, improve cyberwar defenses, and protect American assets in space. ____________ lol, jeez. man i thought you guys were suppose to be fiscally conservative? you know how much bread this will cost? how can he pay for this, AND cut taxes, and balance the budget, AND start putting some sort of dent in the national debt? Sounds like he's ramping up to attack Russia and China at the same time.. Our military needs to be getting more technological and more efficient, not bigger.

ouch, the Pope just said Trump isn't christian.

ouch, the Pope just said Trump isn't christian. You listen to the Media too much as they try to build a story. The Pope actually said... "A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian." No mention of Trump, no mention of America, no mention of Mexico.

ouch, the Pope just said Trump isn't christian. very disappointed in the Pope. His logic that anybody who builds walls instead of bridges isn't a Christian... so then basically any world leader that protects it's borders isn't a Christian? Or anybody that lives inside the walls of a highly protected compound.. you know, like the Pope.. Trump had a chance to respond in Christian like fashion to that and he failed by going on the attack.. Being a Christian is a highly personal, deeply felt thing.. for the Pope to say that based on the sound bites he may have heard from Trump is disappointing.

i'm sure the pope had heard way more than just sound bites, bro. come on now.
because i have listened to trump every debate stage, seen his tweets, interviews, etc.
nothing that guy says represents christianity, or what christians are suppose to be.
because if he was, guys like YTown would be voting for him.

I agree, Trump should have just let it slide. exactly. when somebody like the pope says something like that, just...don't say anything. just smile and walk away. to be honest, i think thats what did Santorum in as well. regardless on how we feel about climate change, Santorum told a scientist to leave it up to the scientist. and that scientist happened to be the Pope.

Hey, that's my opinion. To me, anyone who knows anything about the Bible or that goes to Church knows this. I'm not trying to convince anyone or label people who feel differently. But in this case I feel I have a pretty good grasp of the obvious.

Ahh, the good old days, when we had no doubt who our enemy was because he wanted to destroy us, and could!
Kids have no clue today of how those times were.

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian." No mention of Trump, no mention of America, no mention of Mexico. This is more of what he said.. and yes, the question was specifically about Donald Trump.. He continued: "And then, a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not in the gospel. As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that. I say only that this man is not Christian if he said things like that. We must see if he said things in that way and in this I give the benefit of the doubt."Now he does allow himself a little wiggle room with his "I give him the benefit of the doubt"... but that is what he said.

So basically, we finally had the GOP field whittled down and now the Pope has entered the race!
Now we know his immigration policy, wonder what his economic plan is.

The pope should mind his own business. It looks badly on him if he gets involved in politics.
It will have zero effect in SC. Catholics are a minority here. Every corner has a Baptist or Methodist church.

I must agree with you that the Pope really had no business sticking his nose into it. But Trump also didn't do himself any favors with his response.
Either and or both of them would have been best served by saying less and doing more.

I don't think that Trump is a Christian, but it has nothing to do with his policies. A Christian humbles himself at the foot of the cross. He knows that he has no salvation without the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and the grace of God. We're not saved because of things we do ..... but because of what was done for us. Trump believes in God, but hasn't sought forgiveness - CNNPolitics.com http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/18/politics/trump-has-never-sought-forgiveness/Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions. RELATED: Largest archdiocese to pray for immigrants in wake of Trump remarks "I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so," he said. "I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't." Trump said that while he hasn't asked God for forgiveness, he does participate in Holy Communion. "When I drink my little wine -- which is about the only wine I drink -- and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed," he said. "I think in terms of 'let's go on and let's make it right.'" This is not what a Christian believes. The Christian knows that he is not saved by his own deeds, but only by the cross. Video: Allow Donald Trump to Tell You About His Christian Faith http://thefederalist.com/2016/01/20/video-allow-donald-trump-to-tell-you-about-his-christian-faith/I watch Trump, and I just don't see the repentant attitude of a Christian believer. I hope that he does humble himself and bring his sins to the foot of the cross, and pray for forgiveness of his sins. I just don't see the humble acceptance that he cannot save himself, despite how "good" he thinks he is that is an essential part of a Christian's belief.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

After sleeping on it, I have come to the conclusion that the Pope has taken the correct stand on this "Wall" issue. The Pope is focused on the poor and downtrodden, as he should be. He is always going to be a champion of the poor over governments and those who have the means to take care of themselves.
So of course he is going to defend those who risk their lives, walking through the desert, trying to find a life of security for themselves and their families. I am sure it is the same position my Lord would take.
We are in the throes of a political season and our response to the Pope is from a political view. His is not.

I agree with you. I have no objection to the Pope being against the wall and wanting more inclusiveness, etc..
What I took exception to was him saying a person "is not a Christian" because of one political view. Maybe it's a nuanced argument but I could understand him saying "that is not a Christian view"...

We are in the throes of a political season and our response to the Pope is from a political view. His is not. "I don't think this is a fight," Trump said. "I think he said something much softer than was originally reported by the media." Trump added he would meet with the Pope "anytime he wants." On Friday, a Vatican spokesman said that, although the reporter at the papal press conference asked Francis specifically about Trump, the Pope's answer should be interpreted more generally. "It didn't intend to be in any way neither a personal attack nor an indication in how to vote," the Rev. Federico Lombardi told Vatican Radio. Lombardi also noted that the Pope said he was not sure exactly what Trump had said about illegal immigration and "would give him the benefit of the doubt" until he did. http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/19/politics/donald-trump-pope-francis/index.html
