I thought Sashi said the Browns want to keep Gipson? I'm sure they do want to keep him, but not sure they want to pay him what he wants because of his injury history - he has missed 8 games in the last two years. Of our big 3 FA's (Mack, Schwartz, Gipson), he would probably be considered the biggest risk. http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/index.ssf...art_river_index

You're right. Teams w/good defenses never win. how about teams with crappy QBS?

I read that as Steve agreeing with your assessment of Jack.

I like him and think he could be pretty good, but even his own head coach [Jim Mora--a former NFL coach] questioned Jack turning pro. Mora didn't want Jack to leave school for selfish reasons. His excuse was that there was not enough tape on Jack for scouts to get a good look at him.

Mora said that AFTER Jack made his decision. Right. Mora didn't want Jack to leave because he wanted Rosen on offense and Jack on defense in 2016. Of course Jack is ready to play in the NFL, we can all see that.

Ramsey reminds me of Charles Woodson. Elite instincts and athleticism. Leaders of both their college teams. I think he can easily play CB.

UCLA has used a 3-4 for years. UCLA did use him outside in that role. They also used him inside, which is where he should be in the NFL. I went to a highlight film to refresh my memory on the kid as I was writing the thread. I don't think I so him in the traditional 3-4 OLB position then after your quote I wanted to know why it was confusing to me. will spend considerable time in a nickel defense to counter the squirrel derby offenses scattered throughout the conference.Because of the gimmick spread offenses they would face they were almost always in a NICKEL Defense not their base defense.
Vers...decent analysis. He eludes blocks...but cannot shed them. Confusing, The whole process is to elude blocks...Once the OL is on him locked in its hard for anyone to shed them. OLB eluded is the better virtue I think...can't read your mind to be exact on your meaning...for me that says well 3-4 ILB he'll struggle but OLB he willl flourish.
I've been on record that as we are closing in still 2 months away But there are 4 who could be taken at #2 that for me would be good picks. Wentz Jack Bosa Tunsil jmho

DBs at the combine really showed up and represented well. A lot of guys looked good. They've had the best showing. Nobody disappointed.

It's a really deep db class! Agreed. Not sure why it doesn't really get talked about. There's 5 CBs I can see going in the 1st round. I really like some of the safeties as well. Jalen Ramsey, Vernon Hargreaves, Mackenzie Alexander, Kendall Fuller, William Jackson and Eli Apple at CB. Then you've got Su'a Cravens, Karl Joseph and Jeremy Cash at SS.

I really like Krl Joeseph.
Don't forget about Thompson from Boise and Killebrew from S Utah. And Kearse from Clemson.

I liked Apple in an impressive group. We might need to spend some picks in the group after first round. Maybe two corner safety choices. Impressed with them more than WRs.

It doesn't get talked about because too many only want to talk about the qbs. The Wentz guys are especially annoying. Soon, one of them will be around to knock all 5 of the guys you listed. LOL

It doesn't get talked about mostly cause everyone is fixated on #2 pick and #32 pick.
I wish we had like 5 2nd round picks...man a lot of good players in the 2nd.
We won't take CB/DB at #2 just won't. We also are a little gun shy (fans) I guess on because of the Gilbert Pick they don't wish to get ridiculed due to that debacle...posters are harsh...lol
The talk is centered on QBs a lot cause its so vital...but this thread is to talk about the other possible position players. Specifically for the #2 pick...I can't remember a Safety going as low as 2...Has that ever happened in the draft? When was Ronny Lott taken?

The Browns drafted Eric Turner with the #2 in 1991.
Ronnie Lott was drafted at #8.

And Lott played corner before later switching to safety. Yeah when I wrote Lott down I knew he started out as a CB and was wondering if he would count.
Thanks Deputy...I put a like rather than start a new post. But since I'm posting

LOL I like Wentz and Goff, but trust me. I might be one of the few on here that won't be disappointed if we draft some of the guys I mentioned high in this draft. Hargreaves has many of Haden's flaws. So he scares me a little. I love his tenacity though.

My ideal take sign Brock Osweiler. He has more of a chance making it than any of the rookies in this draft. Draft DeForest Buckner at #2 and Kendall Fuller at #32.
Sign both Mack and Schwartz. Bonus they can sign Benjamin along with the return of Gordon.

Yeah, he gets beat over the top a bit too easily. Fillers confidence got destroyed against Michael Thomas in the first game. He became a lot more grabby after that game. If we can't land Bosa and don't draft a QB, I'm hitching my bandwagon to Ramsey. I could see him being drafted because he reminds me of a Patrick Peterson and Tyran Matheiu combo.

I didn't like Fuller all that much last year. I thought he was a bit overrated.
Ramsey really is talented. I like Hargreaves, too.

We better start looking at oline at #2 or #32. You know? Protect the QB.
Nah won't happen .... nevermind.

My ideal take sign Brock Osweiler. He has more of a chance making it than any of the rookies in this draft. I would argue that Osweiler has more risk than either rookie. He started seven games and was average at best. Acquiring him will also require a fat contract. So we would be signing a player who is totally unproven and paying him a ton of money. No thanks.

"Fat contract" vs #2 overall pick Osweiler + #2 overall pick(Defensive player) vs. #2 overall pick (QB) and McCown

Except like all of the proven Defensive players got tagged yesterday..
