We have no cap room to absorb the cap hit that come with the cutting of Manziel. We already rolled our cap room from 2015 over to 2016, leaving us $0 in cap room.

I think your are not alone is from the talk of Manziel being suicidal possibly. We are not backing him as a Brown, as an abuser, but possibly it was meant as a human being we will do what ever we can to get his head straight.

Pretty sure we all know as a Brown he is pretty much done. Sad is true frown

Manziel assault case findings sent to district attorney

By Austin Knoblauch NFL.com
Published: Feb. 25, 2016 at 06:30 p.m.

Dallas police have concluded their domestic violence assault investigation of Johnny Manziel and have submitted their findings to the Dallas County District Attorney's Office for presentation to a grand jury, the department announced Thursday.

The Dallas Police Department released no details related to the investigation, which stems from the Cleveland Browns quarterback allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, during an argument last month. The case has been classified as a Class A misdemeanor assault / domestic violence. According to police, the maximum sentence for a Class A misdemeanor conviction carries a one-year jail sentence and a $4,000 fine.

In addition to the police probe, Manziel also is under investigation for possible violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Crowley stated Manziel struck her "several times" during an argument on Jan. 30, according to a Fort Worth (Texas) police incident report released earlier this month.

WFAA-TV in Dallas reported earlier this month that a Texas judge signed a protective order against Manziel that prevents him from making contact with Crowley for two years. In addition to the protective order, WFAA-TV reported the Tarrant County judge ordered Manziel to pay $12,000 in legal fees associated with the case.

According to an incident report released Feb. 4 by Fort Worth police, Crowley alleged Manziel struck her "several times" after they got into an argument at Hotel ZaZa in Dallas. Crowley also stated Manziel struck her several more times while he drove her back to her apartment. After arriving home, she eventually ran to a neighbor's house, and Manziel fled the scene on foot, the report stated.

Manziel's agent announced earlier this month he would no longer represent him and his father, Paul, expressed concern for his son to the Dallas Morning News.

"I truly believe if they can't get him help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday."

The Browns will cut Manziel when the new league year begins March 9, Rapoport reported

Dallas police refer Johnny Manziel's domestic violence case to a grand jury | cleveland.com
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2016/02/dallas_police_refer_johnny_man.html#incart_2box

INDIANAPOLIS -- Dallas police have referred their domestic violence case against Johnny Manziel to a grand jury to determine whether or not he'll be charged with harming his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley.

Their statement is as follows:

"The investigation of the domestic violence assault involving Jonathan Manziel, which occurred on January 30, 2016, has been completed. Today, a Class A misdemeanor Assault/Domestic Violence case has been referred to the Dallas County District Attorney's office for presentation to the grand jury.

"The Dallas Police Department will not release any details of the investigation while it is pending grand jury presentation.''

Crowley alleges that Manziel beat her and struck her so hard that she lost hearing in her left ear. She also said in a sworn affidavit that he threatened to kill himself and her. She has secured a protective order against him for two years.

The Browns will waive Manziel on March 9 when the new league year opens.

Executive Vice President Sashi Brown declined to comment on Manziel at the NFL Combine here Thursday.

Refer to a grand jury? So is this a big deal, or business as usual? Meaning could he be looking at year's in prison?

I guess I'm asking, what's the normal penalty for alleged assault on a woman in Texas?

Texas Domestic Violence Laws | Criminal Law
http://www.criminaldefenselawyer.com/resources/texas-domestic-violence-laws.htm

A Class A Misdemeanor can carry up to a year in prison, and a $4000 fine. However, the bigger penalty, for Manziel, is that he would be suspended under the NFL code of conduct regarding domestic violence, and he would immediately face a 6 game ban for the 1st offense, and then would face a lifetime ban for a 2nd offense. Unless he shows that he is on a part to change, who is going to take a chance that the kid won't be gone the next time he blows his stack against a woman? He has shown some talent, but he is a huge risk, with limited reward, at least until he shows that he can control himself.

Why? We're not trading him and it's almost certain that nobody but the desperate would be trying to sign him. He's getting released and he will likely be sitting at home for a while.

I wonder if we hang onto him just long enough to see if he gets suspended. As cold as it sounds, 2 strikes as far as domestic abuse, and he would be permanently out of the NFL, and we could get away with paying him nothing.

I'm hoping the court documents are made public and then Goodell Goodells all over the place suspending Manziel.

Cap relief.

I had a thought, keep him, if he gets suspended, he's not getting a dime out of us, but then I thought, nope, now worth it. Dump him.

Now some will say, how come I didn't say that about Gordon. Simple, Gordon proved that when he's working, he can produce big time. He costs us nothing until he's reinstated, and he's not allowed to hang out at the facility in Berea. So, for me, it was a no risk, potential high reward.

I thought you could not cut a guy if he was suspended. It was my understanding that was why Gordon could not be cut and why Jacksonville has never cut Blackmon. I would love for any suspension to come after Manziel is cut.

It really doesn't matter - he doesn't take up a roster spot, we don't pay him and it doesn't affect the salary cap.

We wouldn't have cut Gordon even if we could have because he has a ton of talent and is worth the risk.

Not really. Whenever Justin Blackmon does something stupid people don't think about the Jaguars. They think about how dumb Justin Blackmon is.

You know, that's what everyone said was going to happen because we didn't cut Gordon. And guess what, it didn't happen.

Anyone who understand addiction should find this latest TMZ report understandable and of no surprise.

Manziel will cease his participation in these types of activities if AND when HE is ready and on his own time table, no one elses.

No news here.

You aren't wrong. I don't know anything about booze or drug addictions but I understand it from a cigarette standpoint. 4 pack a day at one point in my life.

Until you decide for yourself that you want to quit, nothing will help. You have to want it.

I would suspect that we would just want CLOSURE...Released, done over with he will no longer be a Brown.

Possibly the NFL was waiting for the Grand Jury and also give us a break. We want him outta here.

As for the picks...I guess its him but I hate when they say its obvious. I can't tell 100% we can ASSume but we shouldn't say it is so 100% unless other shots gets a better look and it is obviously Manziel.

His choice of drink I think gives him away more than the picture. What is it with him? Does he have a Stomach Disorder or something?

jmho - lets have closure on him and then soon FORGET about him!

Does knowing that in just seven days, poof gone Manziel, help ease your anger? Each day March 9th nears, the more pumped I get.

I can safely say I've never, ever been so eager to axe someone and get him off the team as I have with Johnny. It likely won't ever be surpassed either.

I actually do not expect that, but the talks is better engaging when we're talking about a loser that isn't on our team as opposed to taking about a loser that technically still is.

I guess I just don't understand the direction your anger is pointed in. His dad had publicly stated he had a major drinking problem that his family had tried to help but couldn't. His antics were out there for everyone to see. Manziel was the same punk BEFORE he was drafted.

In regards to Manziel, I place far more of the blame towards those who ignored all of his issues and drafted him anyway than I do towards the player they expected to evolve into what they wanted him to be.
