I told you already dude. The party is a train wreck. And the democrats are anointing a candidate that has illegally removed classified documents from government offices, deleted government records, lied to congress, and may have even taken bribes from foreign agents for favors. Some choice we have, huh?

And I think that's real tasteless by republicans. Bring out Mitt to bash trump?
Why on earth is that considered a viable strategy?

No idea. I can't fathom mitt doing any better this time than he did last time. He's little more than 'democrat lite' as I see it.

So Trump is beating the GOP by their own rules, he's lived up to his pledge and the GOP isn't going to live up to their end?
So they send out two time loser Romney to try and bring the voters back to their senses? This is just going to empower Trump more.
The GOP is a train wreck. As a life long Republican I find it interesting that Trump came out originally stating he was up against everyone, even the Republican establishment. People said he was crazy, finding conspiracies around every corner. Turns out Trump was right. He said he didn't think he would get fair treatment from the establishment through the election. People said he was only whining and crying. Turns out Trump was right. The Republican establishment announced they would require all candidates to sign a pledge they would remain loyal to the Party and not run as an Independent. Trump wavered at first saying he didn't trust them to be fair and honest with their end of that deal. He finally signed it saying as long as they treat me fair, I will sign the pledge. People said he wavered so he was not serious about running as a Republican. Turns out Trump was right. Trump has pointed his finger left and right saying they are all liars and the American system is corrupt from top to bottom. He talked about the waste in the system and the greed at the top. He said he knows how the Bankers and Wall Street operate, saying they won't like this but I will see to it that it changes! Turns out, once again, this Trump guy was right. Some of you ask why? Why would the GOP turn on him like this? What purpose does it serve? I will tell you why and it hurts me to my bones to say it... The Establishment in the GOP has come to the conclusion it is better to protect their Senators and their base of Power than to win the Presidency with Trump. Trump is his own man and can not be controlled. They Hate that.

Why on earth is that considered a viable strategy? Because if you are the GOPe, having someone basically take over your party is thought to be the death of your party. Pat Buchanan had a nice editorial to contrast the chicken little opinions of the GOPe though: http://www.wnd.com/2016/02/a-new-gop-is-born/

Lots of stupid people in America DC..
But then again, look at Rubio and Cruz. Both have immigrant parents. Both are taking a strong stance against immigration.
There really isn't a decent candidate from the republican. Closet thing to it is Kasich and he's not got a prayer in hell of getting the nomination.
That leaves us with who? Clinton or Sanders?
The only way I vote for Clinton is if it's against Trump. SHe's bad, he's a freaking idiot.
Sanders is probably the only decent human being running for President. Hate his policies all you want, (I don't like them either) but he's honest and he's spent his entire life fighting for the rights of others. That's gotta say something good about the "MAN" himself.

The GOP can pretty much count on Trump running as an Independent now if he fails to gain the GOP nomination. Morons. They can see the ship is sinking so hey, lets pull that stopper out of the hull and see what it's for...

The GOP is desperate, frantic, anxious, despairing, worried, distressed, distracted, fraught at, outrageous, reckless, dangerous, frenzied, furious, violent, madcap, rash, wild, atrocious, audacious, careless, death-defying, devil-may-care, foolhardy, hasty, hazardous, headlong, headstrong, heinous, impetuous, incautious, monstrous, risky, scandalous, shocking, venturesome, hopeless, despondent, forlorn, futile, sad, vain, downcast, goner, at the end of their rope, back to the wall, can't win, dead ducks, desponding, hard up, in the soup, in the toilet, inconsolable, irrecoverable, irremediable, irretrievable, no-chance, no-way, no-win, running out of time, sunk, up against it, up the creek, and now useless.

there is chaos in the metaphorical streets right now in GOP country. This is like seeing haley's comet or something.

there is chaos in the metaphorical streets right now in GOP country. This is like seeing haley's comet or something. Here's the problem.. it's Mitt Romney. This isn't Ronald Reagan or some revered person in the GOP... Mitt Romney could only garner luke warm support in an attempt to defeat Obama, who most of the GOP had vowed to defeat... I doubt Romney's speech is going to affect very many people... the only chance it has to be effective is Trump does something in his response to it that has an impact..

I think the major impact Romney is creating is in helping the media firestorm indicating that the GOP is falling apart due to division.
The fact that the Republican party has disdain for Trump isn't news. That's been known from the start. It's simply that when it's more public, it gives the media an opportunity to present it as news. But change people's minds? No.

I believe they are at a juncture that they believe they will lose a lot of their base if Trump is the nominee and they feel almost no price is too high to try to stop him. I would have to agree with them if that's their thinking.

I think they have finally come to the conclusion it is better to risk having Trump run as an Independent, giving victory to the Democrats, than having him win as a Republican. And they might be right. Having Hillary win would absolutely suck and would cost the republicans 4 more years without the Whitehouse... having Donald win and continue his cartoonish behavior could alienate many republicans and fracture the party for decades... just a thought. The Republican Party needs to not only fracture, but break. The national leadership of the party is incredibly inept. They gain power, and do nothing. They talk a great game, and then flop around, floundering instead of doing the things they said they would do. The Republican establishment is not only inept, but they are the ones who are destroying the party. Parading out Mitt Romney, a Republican who looked remarkably like a Democrat, and who ran one of the most inept Presidential campaigns against a very beatable President Obama, is something worse than a circus. Romney ran an inept campaign, yet he is supposed to tell us how to win? Why is anyone even listening to this guy? He is what's wrong with the GOP. If Romney is the face of the GOP, then the Party needs to be fractured and broken. Then it can be rebuilt, or something better can be built in its place. This Party is lost, and I think that a lot of Republican voters feel that it is broken beyond repair. It is time to make major changes to the Party, because the Party is on the verge of becoming inconsequential, and being known as a "do nothing" Party. It's all well and good to stop the opposition, and there is value in that ..... but the Republicans should be pushing through initiative after initiative, and let the Democrats in the Senate and President be the obstructionists. Unfortunately, they do not, and have not. The Party is broken, and some say that the way to repair something that is badly broken is to tape it up, but sometimes you just have to tear it all the way down, and start over from the foundation up. I think that's where the Republican Party is right now. I will say one thing ..... seeing Romney come out and go after Trump, as if he knows how to win a presidential race, actually makes me almost want to vote for Trump. It is time for major changes to the Republican Party.

the GOP's problem is that everytime they lose any election, their first response is "how can we get more conservative", instead on trying to figure out how to actually reach the american population at large.
y'all move further and further to the right. thats not what people want. you're doing it wrong.

The Republicans do an awful job of communicating their beliefs, and why they are the right thing for this country. That's why Trump is running away with this so far. He knows how to speak directly to the people.

i simply don't see the diversity of people that support the conservative movement.
the GOP just doesn't appeal to the majority. the actual values of conservatism is something a lot of people can get behind. but your leaders aren't representing that.
