NAIA prospect smashes Chris Johnson's 40-yard dash record
Sporting News 7 hours ago

For years, Chris Johnson's 40-yard dash time of 4.24 seconds has stood as the pinnacle of speed at the NFL Combine.

No more.

e

Wendall Williams, a receiver from NAIA Division I school University of the Cumberlands, shattered Johnson's record by clocking 4.19 seconds in the NFL Regional Combine in Winter Park, Minn., Saturday.

That is, of course, if Williams' official time holds up. He shouldn't feel too bad if it doesn't, though: The 5-10, 175-pound receiver also turned in a 45-inch vertical jump, which would tie Kansas City Chiefs receiver Chris Conley's record (which he set in 2015).

Williams appears to have been used in myriad ways for the Patriots. In the 2015 season, he caught 15 catches for 457 yards and eight touchdowns, rushed seven times for 205 yards and three touchdowns and returned six punts for 141 yards and a touchdown.

If that wasn't enough, maybe his impressive showing at the Combine did enough to improve his draft stock. link

So long as he doesn't have to go over the middle like they did with Benji I'd be alright with it. What round are they thinking he'll go in?

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM

he would be considered pure special teamer at this point, so likely 5th to undrafted but if he can workout and show he can run a route and catch then who knows but I would say 5th would be as high as anyone would take him. Damn thats a special kind of speed though.

I don't know about any of you guys, but how good was his kickoff receiving mate that the opponent continually kicked it to him. Makes you wonder if the coaches for the opponents were sleeping during film. Good Lord that kid was fast, talk about making your quarterback look good. nanner

I think after someone runs the 40.

They should run it again in full pads.

It'd be interesting.

The touchdowns are impressive, but he really wasn't utilized all that much for as fast as he is. Wonder why?

I would be concerned about a guy who bills himself as a WR but it takes 3:25 seconds into his highlight reel before there is one of him actually catching a pass. thumbsup

Dude has some wheels but I was more in awe at the size of the crowds. I've seen bigger crowds at little league games.
