Actually at 1 pm EST with the ACC Women’s Tourney 1st round.
North Carolina vs. Pittsburgh (on NESN here - New England Sports Network)
Hmm… The Women Tar Heels finished at 14-17 overall. The Female Panthers at 12-17.
Not quite the success of their male counterparts.
I won’t take half a day for this one. I’ll catch some of it on the waiting area TV. (just to say I did - "Wow, did you see that North Carolina, Pittsburgh game?")
But tonight at 7 pm EST The Northeast Conference Men kick-off with LIU-Brooklyn at Sacred Heart. This game is on MSG out here (Madison Square Garden network). I’ll be home in time for the second half. The Pioneers will be favored to end the Blackbird’s season tonight.
All these early round games are season-ending for the loser.
Hear that Brooklyn? No excuse for not studying for mid-terms this year. (unless…)

PS. We have a month of March Madness. The NCAA Tourney Championship game is April 4th.
The sun will be warm. The crocus will be in bloom. (probably past bloom - those stupid crocus)

It’s official.
The North Carolina Women are the first of the 600+ NCAA college teams to be eliminated from the NCAA Championship in 2016 (They lost to Pitt 82 - 72).

Northern Iowa is in the dance in dramatic fashion
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Right D4L,
Northern Iowa could win a few games in the NCAA tourney. They beat North Carolina and the Wichita Shockers (24-8) twice.
In:
Northern Iowa Panthers (win Missouri Valley Conference)
UNC Asheville Bulldogs (take The Big South)
There's big games every day for the next 3 weeks. (and each day they're bigger)
Selection Sunday is in a week.

OK, Pitt over Syracuse 72-71. I’d say that punches Pittsburgh’s(21-10) ticket to dance. Pitt plays #1 ACC seed North Carolina at noon tomorrow (3-10).Even with a self-respecting loss tomorrow Pittsburgh’s in. Over in the SEC, ESPN “bracketologist” Lunardi has Kentucky, Texas A&M and the ”She’s a Brick… Hoouuussse” Commodores (Vandy) in. With Amile Jefferson out, this is not the usual March Duke team. Big Ten’s Illinois vs. The Golden Gofers at 4:30 today It was great to hear Dick Vitale call the game yesterday.

UTC Mocs are in....win #29...the most in the nation, Baby! I am looking for a 10 seed. May be #11. A #5 or 6 doesn't want to draw the Mocs.

Wow 'peen,
The Moccasins lead the nation in wins. But they are not even among "other teams receiving votes" in either the AP or Coach's polls.
Is the Southern Conference that bad?
Did UTC really change their name from Moccasins to Mockingbirds?
Oh no... not "sensitivity issues". Give me a break.
That's what 29 wins and "sensitivity awareness" gets you.
I'm offended. I hope UTC will respect my sensitivities. I have very delicate sensitivities. NOOOOO..... My poor sensitivities.

PS. I think you might be a little optimistic with that #10/#11 seed for Chattanooga. The highest projection I've seen is a #15.
But they won more ball games than any other college in the country this year.
I'll split the difference - I predict a #13 seed for UTC.

We're there.
Practically nonstop conference tournament action between now and Selection Sunday (March 13th).
Just enough time off to get a decent night's sleep.

That Uconn/Cincy game was NUTS

.8 seconds left and the guy had time to catch the ball take a step and heave a shot? I thought with that much time on the clock it has to be a tip in or it was no shot?
Oh well anyway.... Cincinnati screwed themselves out of the tournament by not closing out games they had won earlier in the season against Iowa State, Butler and SMU.

I don't know about catch, step, and heave but that only time for a tip is 0.3 seconds.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

Technically I think in college if there's less than .3 they dont even "allow" there to be a tip..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Well, it looks like the Buckeye men are done until November.
I don't see them in anyone's "bracketology" for the 2016 NCAA tourney. This despite a 20-13 record and several quality Big Ten wins.

The Buckeye women could grab a #3 seed and if they make it to the sweet sixteen regional game they might play ~ 50 miles away from me in Bridgeport, CT.
I bet some SNEBBies would be going to that. (SNEBB - Southern New England Browns Backers)

Michigan vs. Purdue
Today at 1 pm EST, Boilermakers are 7 point favorites
Wouldn’t it be great to see Purdue win the Big Ten? They’d have to beat the boys up north. Both of them, Michigan and Michigan State.
In the early 1890s they were known as the pumpkin-shuckers (among other things).
The name Boilermakers comes from the fact that in the late 1890s engineering students spent a lot of time in boiler rooms forging metals like blacksmiths.
The pumpkin-shuckers last won the Big Ten in football was 2000. But never a national title.
Purdue has won more Big Ten conference titles in basketball than any other team in the conference. But never a national title.
I had a friend, well more like a buddy, more like an acquaintance, well more like a stranger, who went to Purdue. He had a t-shirt that read:
PURD-WHO?
Go Shuckers!

Could UConn be peaking?
(Men) The women are already on the mountain top. I'm getting quite a good feeling about my Huskies right now. We're finally finding some half court offense, which we've been missing all year Although, it's amazing how different I felt about them a couple weeks ago. I was worried we'd miss the tourney two years in a row (hasn't happened since I became a fan in like 1998) The one thing that holds us back is that we just don't have a go to player that we can consistently count on. Our last two championships we had Napier and Walker. This year, we have a really good player in Daniel Hamilton, but he's not of the same "Throw the team on my back" mold. Either way, teams won't want to draw the UConn Huskies right now. I'm not sure we are "better" than the Kansas' of the NCAA, but it is the Tourney, which means that everything is back to square one. Every game is simply "One Game", and that makes things very dangerous. Could be another "Champions of College Basketball" Year for Title-town USA, Storrs Connecticut cause that "One game" thing seems to have little effect on the juggernaut that is the Lady Huskies

So the selection show is 2 hours now?
I miss the good old days when it was just 30 minutes long and you merely found out who was in or out of the tournament.

I'm a Buckeye fan, but I have to say Michigan State got the shaft IMO they are the best team in the country ...

Surprised Cincinnati got in, and at a 9 seed nonetheless. Thought it would have been an 11 if anything.
The regular season sweep of Connecticut had to help tremendously, and the 4 OT loss to them probably helped also. Obviously not as much as a win would have. But nobody else in the conference tournament could touch them. Temple was rested and got blown out the following day so I imagine that helped also. Thanks UConn.

Anything for another disgruntled former Big East counterpart. Cincy's a well coached team, and talentwise, I think you guys were better than temple probably too. The AAC conference gets ripped on, especially for the beginning of the year non-conference record, but the conference came on strong toward the end. I'm not saying anyone in the conference is a UNC or Virginia ACC Powerhouse. But, Cincy, UConn, Temple. We aren't slouches. All those teams can do some mega damage in the tourney EDIT: Also, if it wasn't for that win, Conn would probably be in the first four out. I'm happy that the AAC got 4 teams into the tourney this year (although I'm not sure about Tulsa deserving it over some of the teams they're mentioning on TV)
