The Cleveland Browns have signed free agents offensive lineman Alvin Bailey and linebacker Justin Tuggle.
Bailey is 6-3, 320-pounds and entering his fourth NFL season out of Arkansas. Originally signed by Seattle as an undrafted free agent in 2013, Bailey has appeared in 42 regular season games with eight starts for the Seahawks. He also appeared in eight postseason contests with two starts. He has earned starts at RT, LT and LG and appeared as a reserve at RG during his career. He appeared in 15 regular season games last season with three starts. Bailey started five games in 2014 and helped the Seahawks lead the NFL and set a franchise record with 2,762 rushing yards. As a rookie, he appeared as a reserve in 14 regular season contests and all three postseason games (one start), while helping Seattle win Super Bowl XLVIII. Bailey started 38 games at Arkansas and blocked for the school’s first single-season combination 3,000-yard passer (Ryan Mallett) and 1,000-yard rusher (Knile Davis). A native of Broken Arrow, Okla., he graduated from Broken Arrow High School.
Tuggle is 6-3, 245-pounds and entering his fourth NFL season out of Kansas State. Originally signed by Houston as an undrafted free agent in 2013, Tuggle has appeared in 42 games with 11 starts for the Texans. He has logged 52 tackles, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one interception, while adding 19 stops on special teams. Last year, he started two of his 11 games and registered 13 tackles, one fumble recovery and five special-teams tackles. Tuggle started his collegiate career as a quarterback at Boston College and played one season on defense after transferring to KSU. A native of Alpharetta, Ga., he graduated from Northview High School. Tuggle’s father, Jessie, played 14 seasons as a LB with Atlanta and was selected to five Pro Bowls. His brother, Grady Jarrett, is a DL for the Falcons. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...f8-339bd3f2abdcOn a scale of one to ten, how are excited are we about these signings (one being more excited than ever and ten being "championship")?

You know you are good when your team decides not to give you a qualifying offer even though you are a restricted free agents (that happened to both of these players).

Backups. Tuggle was a backup to a rookie. Bailey was a backup to a guy that came out the same year as him.

So . . . These two have a lot of upside, eh? Never heard of either of them, but welcome aboard!
(At least you aren't compensatory picks.) Tear it up.

You say this like it's a bad thing. We identified guys we wanted and went out and got them. That's all that matters. Who cares if they are good or not?

The Replacements are starting to arrive. We should hold a fire-sale on all our good players and fill the team with this type of guy for the next 3 years, then we could REALLY build via the draft.

Bleh. We have lost Mack, Schwartz, Gipson, Benjamin, and Johnson Bademosi ..... and are also poised to lose Craig Robertson. Yeah, these guys sure do make me feel sick better.

Gordon should be traded to the highest bidder, ASAP. (assuming he is reinstated)
Counting on Gordon is almost as insane as counting on Manziel. If we're starting over, there is no sense starting over with a problem child.

Do yourself a favor and don't look at it like that. No doubt we have many needs. We have 11 picks. Can we fix 3 of those? I think so. Maybe 4. In the end, we may pick up another pick or two before it is over.

I really don't mind the complete tear down as long as we stick with it and not rebuild next year...keep em together for at least five years then judge

I say, after he's been out of the news pretty much and seems to have stayed outta trouble - trade him while you can, get what you can get... while you can. idk guys. M. Irvin had lots of problems with that !@#$#@ and pulled himself out of it and went on to one hell of a career. Gordon is that kind of talent. I would hold on to him and see.

Tuggle .. dont know much about.. Doubt he sees much playing time outside of special teams.
I like the Bailey pickup. See a few people say they were shocked when he went undrafted, as they thought he was the best Guard to come out that class in 13.

The Browns seem fixated on offensive linemen from Seattle. It's probably because they all prove to be so good once they get here.

Every Seahawks fan I've seen comment on Bailey said he was a nice get for us and they'd hoped he'd stay in Seattle. Seahawks fans seemed to think he was pretty solid.

We need depth at both spots. As long as the money isn't crazy, I think these could be good moves.
Losing our FA's still sucks, but we can't hold that against these signings.

Depth. Bailey is a power scheme fit who can sub as a guard or tackle. As much as I like Miller as a LT I'm not sure keeping him on the 53 as a backup who can only sub one position is feasible. I like the move in the context of what it is.

...I was doing some research on Tuggle, and I just read that he was a college QB until 2012. I'm not sure what it means, but I thought it was interesting. Link
The Texans desperately need depth at linebacker. Justin can thank his lucky stars for the decision he made to switch to the defense. The switch from quarterback to linebacker took place prior to Kansas State’s tilt versus Arkansas in the January, 2012 Cotton Bowl. One might think that the transition from quarterback to linebacker would be difficult. But, not so says the Alpharetta, Georgia native.
“I don’t really miss it to tell you the truth,” says Tuggle. “I’m having fun playing defense. It’s a lot more reaction than other things going on than (at) quarterback. Quarterback is a lot of responsibility. You got to know the ins and outs of every single position. You got to just really command everything. It’s the same with different positions. But, defensive is more reaction. I like to go out there, see something, react, and make plays.”

Meanwhile, Seattle just re-signed their starting center, Patrick Lewis, who they claimed off the Browns' practice squad in 2014.

Seattle's OL has been poor for awhile now. Acquiring their backups is not a sound plan.

If I recall, the Browns failed Moffitt on his physical and there were reports it was done intentionally or something goofy.
