per NFL.com Started every game for the Jets since 2013. Other than that don't know a ton about him. Sounds like possible replacement for Dansby, since he's getting up there. Good, solid signing !!

A vanilla signing. Guess it makes it official they aren't interested in getting Craig Robertson back, who'd I'd much rather have. He's not a replacement for Dansby, this guy has zero cover skills. Zero! Way my bud, who's a Jets fan, makes it sound is this dude is worse than Paul Kruger in coverage.

He comes to Cleveland after 4 productive seasons with Jets

The Browns’ newest free agent signing comes to Cleveland excited about the kind of impact he hopes to make on the team’s defense.
The Browns on Wednesday signed linebacker Demario Davis. The former third-round pick out of Arkansas State spent the previous four seasons with the New York Jets.
“There's a lot of positive energy in this building,” Davis said. “It seems like they're ready to take this organization in the right direction. I felt nothing but positive vibes from (executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown) all the way down to the defensive coordinator and the head coach. I just felt like this was the best fit for me and my family. I wanted to be a part of what was going on here so I'm happy to be a part of it.
“I just want to be able to come in and help as best as possible. I take pride in being a run stopper. I take pride in covering. I take pride in playing in space, being a sideline-to-sideline backer. I take pride in getting after the quarterback. I just want to be able to do whatever the coach is asking of me."

Davis, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound inside linebacker, appeared in 64 games with 51 starts from 2012-15. He hasn’t missed a game since entering the league while accumulating 392 tackles, 8.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries and one interception. He’s racked up more than 100 tackles in each of the past three seasons and was the team leader in 2015 with 114.
A Brandon, Mississippi native, Davis was a three-year starter at Arkansas State. He was selected with the 77th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
“I played for some great defensive minds,” Davis said. “I played with a lot of great players. Just everything I've been able to learn over the four years is going to help me as I enter into the next chapter of my career.
“It's a tremendous coaching staff here. I'm excited at what they're trying to do. I'm trying to be the best player I can be. I think if I'm playing at the top of my game, I can be one of the best in the game. That's what I aim to do.”

What you should know about new Browns LB Demario Davis
Posted 12 minutes ago

Patrick Maks
The former New York Jet and Mississippi native is known for his durability and leadership
Demario Davis is officially a Cleveland Brown.
The Browns on Wednesday announced the signing of the former starting Jets linebacker, who enters his fifth season in the NFL.
Davis, who went from a third-round draft pick to one of the leaders of New York’s defense over the past four years, could potentially boost a Cleveland defense looking to get more stout against the run under new defensive coordinator Ray Horton.
Here are six things to know about Davis.
1. The basics
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 239 pounds
Age: 27
College: Arkansas State
Hometown: Brandon, Mississippi
2. Durability and consistency
In his four years — all with the Jets, Davis has played in all 64 games and started every contest (48 straight) since 2013. Over that span, he’s amassed 349 tackles, including a career-high 116 stops in 2014.
3. ‘He’s a really impressive person’
The former Jets coach Rex Ryan, who had a hand in drafting Davis to New York back in 2012, was so impressed with the rookie that he compared his leadership qualities to former Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis, who is regarded as one of the league’s all-time greats at linebacker.
"I'm not saying Demario is that guy, and there's only one Ray Lewis," Ryan told NJ.com and other local media organizations in May 2012, "but it’s interesting. His face, mannerisms, passion — I see some things, and it’s interesting."
Ryan added: “It’s rare. I’m not going to say he's the leader Ray Lewis is. But there are some — even when he talks to you, like, 'Wow, he’s really an impressive person,' and he gets it. He’s a team guy, and he’s not an individual guy. He’s all about the team, and he is all about business."
4. Quotable
“I don’t think leaders are made. Leaders are born,” Davis told CBS New York in Aug. 2014.
“Ever since I was a young child, I always told my Mom, ‘I’m a leader. I want to be a leader in everything I do.’ My Dad always told me at an early age that I should never be a follower.”
5. What he brings to the Browns?
For a defense that struggled in part because of nagging injuries last season, the fact that Davis hasn't missed a game in four seasons is likely a welcomed dynamic. More so, though, he might be the kind of player that fits in Horton's defense considering he played in a similar scheme with the Jets under Ryan and, occasionally, coach Todd Bowles.
Browns coach Hue Jackson and Co. have also made it clear over the last few months they want "high-character" players who handle themselves well on and off the field. Davis, a father of two and well-respected player on and off the field, seems to fit that bill.

I like the leadership angle if he lives up to it. We do need better leaders.

Agreed.

I remember last season being in fear that we needed to blow the whole thing up.

I remember Tramon Williams saying after a game that everyone seemed to have their heads down. Like they had accepted they were going to lose.

That made me real nervous, and gave me the impression that we need a whole rebuild. A change in players and a change in regime.

I know a lot of people don't like Tramon, but he did come from a very successful team. He knows what a good organization looks like. It says a lot.

And it doesn't mean that the Browns players are all bad, just that everyone need a change in scenery.

That's why I haven't freaked out much with the whole FA thing. I was baffled by the Schwartz situation, but after that, I've stayed calm and decided to let things play out. We've seen so many screwed up front offices and coaching staffs that I had originally bought into. They all stunk. So what do I know. Maybe we need to do things differently..............

I like Dansby a lot. He clearly was the Captain of our defense. I saw that at a Browns game this year when some young guy was on the field for the coin toss or something, and it was Dansby who went out of his way to show this confused fella where to go. It made me like him a lot.

But Dansby apparently isn't what we're looking for

It seems like, from this video, that Davis was the leader of the Jets defense.

Lol. Two thirds of the dude's highlight video over two years is him getting jacked and making speeches in the huddle.
