Earlier in the season, James told Gibson, a second-round draft pick, that if he worked hard he'll make him a star. James' proclamation probably happened sooner than he imagined. Gibson has been the talk of the Eastern Conference finals with his stellar play to get the Cavaliers to a 2-2 tie with the Detroit Pistons. Game 5 will be tonight in the Palace of Auburn Hills. The past two games, Gibson has come seemingly out of nowhere to average 15 points off the bench. He had a career-high 21 points, including going 12 of 12 from the free-throw line, in a 91-87 victory Tuesday in Game 4. "He definitely gave us a lift throughout the whole game of attacking and getting to the rim," James said. "You know, a lot of guys don't understand that Daniel is much better than shooting an outside shot." Gibson's minutes have increased because of a foot injury to starting point guard Larry Hughes. Gibson, 20, has stepped in fearlessly, which is part of what interested the Cavaliers in the former Texas player. The Cavs were considering Gibson with the 25th overall pick last summer but instead jumped at the chance to select Michigan State guard Shannon Brown when Brown fell lower than projected. So the front office was ecstatic when Gibson was still available at No. 42 in the second round. Although Brown couldn't find a spot in the rotation this season, Gibson's shooting earned him minutes. Gibson averaged 4.6 points and 1.5 rebounds in 60 games. He also shot 41.9 percent from three-point range. Gibson missed two weeks in the middle of the season because of a sprained toe. He struggled initially during his comeback but hit his stride in the Eastern Conference finals, where he's averaging 9.8 points in four games. As the series progresses, Gibson's increased production coincides with the Cavs winning back-to-back games, "It definitely feels good, but it's not over yet," Gibson said. The Spurs looked scary-good in the first half last night from what I saw flipping between innings in the one Indians baseball game I've been able to see because the Yankees weren't on.

The Cavs have to win this series, because according to a dream I had last week, I skipped work to go to the parade downtown after winning it all.  I think (ok...I know) I have issues, because just days before that dream I had one where I was talking football with Bears fans and realized Brady was in the car as well. That one had something to do with the Bears and the Browns being the best two teams in the NFL at the time. gocavs!!!!

i know we really get on this guy, but he's showing a ton of heart right now...

I agree, im glad he is starting, play 15 minutes so there isnt pressure on Boobie to play 40+, I think its great that Hughes is doing what he can.

and it's not that i think gibson can't start...
but it's just that it's too much of a gamble at this point...
game 5, eastern conference finals, with hughes limited, you don't want gibson to pick up 2 quick fouls in the first quarter, and have to run with damon jones or eric snow for the duration...
hughes knows what he has to do, and if they go on to win this series, hughes was a big reason why...

It appeared the video crew in the dressing room was working franticly. EDIT: With the way Detroit came out I'm happy with only a 1 point deficit at this stage.
