I find it reduces the carnage around here.

Heh makes me want to play devil's advocate just for the fun of it. I have never been worried about people who feel the need to tell me how intelligent they are. I mean no offense but I have know so many people who are scholars and are completely useless idiots outside of the narrow window of whatever they are specialized in.

I've only met a single person with terrifying intellect and you would never know it to talk with him. Then you would realize he was talking to experts in so many different fields and schooling them like it was nothing at all. Dr. Wheeler was by far had no one in his league while he was alive. The only professor I knew who would humble me while being humble himself all while massively increasing what I knew and had no hope of ever knowing. 80 plus years old, photographic memory, and iq off the charts, and a hand grip that would crush you like you wouldn't believe and I say that as a man who can put a hurting with my own grip. After studying under him for so long no one else even makes me nervous. I wish I was even half the man he was.

Long Island Woman Charged In Death of Newborn Daughter

by Chris Fuchs

A New York college student was arraigned Saturday on charges of second-degree murder for allegedly suffocating her newborn girl after giving birth in her Long Island home.

Sharon Seudat, 20, appeared at First District Court in Hempstead, Long Island, and was ordered held on $1 million bond or $750,000 cash, Nassau County District Attorney spokesman Shams Tarek told NBC News. Judge Douglas D. Lerose also had Seudat turn over her passport, Tarek said. Her next court date is April 5.

Edward L. Lieberman, Seudat's attorney, told NBC News in an email Saturday night "that this was a tragedy for all concerned" and that Seudat has her family's support.

Police and fire companies responded Thursday evening to Seudat's residence for a report of a woman with severe bleeding, police said. After being taken to a hospital, staff determined Seudat had recently given birth, police said. Seudat initially denied having the baby, according to NBC New York.

Officers then went back to Seudat's home where they found an unresponsive newborn girl, according to police. The baby was brought to an area hospital and was pronounced dead, officials said.

Police said an autopsy determined the baby was suffocated after she was born at the home.

Seudat's arrest came on the same day as another New York woman from Staten Island was indicted on charges of leaving her newborn to die in the trash outside her home.

Nausheen Rahman, 28, pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree murder and one count of concealment of a human corpse. She is being held without bail.

After giving birth inside her home, Rahman allegedly cut the umbilical cord of her baby daughter, who was still breathing, placed her in a plastic bag, and threw her in a garbage can outside her Staten Island residence on March 11, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's Office and a criminal complaint.

Prosecutors said Rahman's parents later took her to Staten Island University Hospital - North for vaginal bleeding. At first, Rahman allegedly denied having a baby, but later admitted to giving birth and disposing of her daughter who was alive, prosecutors said.

Gee if she would have "Self aborted" last month she would have only been charged with a class A or B misdemeanor with a max of one year in jail or she might even have gotten no jail time

Anyone can have an opinion or philosophy on this topic. But, one thing is for certain, not one of us knows how we would proceed until we are actually faced with fhe situation. Not one of us, man or woman.

I would never, ever, intentionally kill a newborn child. Not under any circumstances, and especially not as callously as happened in these stories.

Just curious Arch, if people believe it's up to each individual to make their own choice, why do you call that pro abortion?

Don't you believe that people can have their own personal opinion that abortion is wrong yet simply wish not to force their beliefs upon others? I'm just wondering because I know people like that.

For them, in their life, abortion is wrong and their personal choice would be to never seek an abortion. Yet they believe that choice should be open to everyone and their choice is between them and God. Don't you believe that's possible?

Why This Lawmaker Opposes Abortion For Everyone Except His Own Wife And Mistress
http://thinkprogress.org/health/2015/05/18/3659910/abortion-vote-desjarlais/

A Tennessee Republican is making headlines for voting in favor of a national abortion ban, even after pressuring the women in his own life to have legal abortions.
Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) publicly opposes abortion and has repeatedly run for office as a pro-life candidate. Last week, he was one of 242 House members to vote for a proposed 20-week abortion ban that has become one of the top priorities for the current GOP-controlled Congress.
An anti-abortion Republican casting a vote in favor of an abortion restriction is not typically newsworthy. However, DesJarlais’ positions on the subject are particularly controversial, thanks to evidence that emerged in 2012 that revealed he has advocated for at least three legal abortions in his personal life.
Three years ago, transcripts related to the congressman’s divorce trial showed that DesJarlais supported his ex-wife’s decision to legally end two pregnancies. He also had several extramarital affairs, and once pressured a 24-year-old woman to have an abortion after she told him she was pregnant with his child. “You told me you’d have an abortion, and now we’re getting too far along without one,” DesJarlais told the woman in a recorded phone conversation. “If we need to go to Atlanta, or whatever, to get this solved and get it over with so we can get on with our lives, then let’s do it.”
DesJarlais’ recent vote inspired a fresh round of headlines about the apparent disconnect between his anti-choice political stance and his support for legal abortion in his personal life. According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the congressman’s office declined to answer questions about whether either of his ex-wife’s abortions occurred after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
The divide between DesJarlais’ public persona and private actions fits into a larger dynamic that’s been informally dubbed “the only moral abortion is my abortion” — which speaks to the fact that, when confronted with pregnancy decisions in their own lives, people who identify as pro-life sometimes end up choosing abortion anyway.
On an anecdotal level, there are plenty of personal stories about people who, after spending their lives publicly opposing abortion, find themselves in a clinic to terminate their own unwanted pregnancy. One researcher who studies the pro-life movement says that an interview subject once told him: “Most pro-life women oppose abortion with four exceptions: rape, incest, the life of the mother, and me.”
That’s perhaps due to the fact that being confronted with pregnancy decisions on an individual level is very different than engaging in more abstract conversations about politics and legality. “I had always said — always ‘known’ — that if I ever had an unplanned pregnancy I would have to keep it,” one woman who had an abortion after previously identifying as pro-life wrote in xoJane. “It turns out that I didn’t really know anything about what I would do if I got pregnant.”
Researchers and pollsters are well aware of this dynamic. Polls that ask Americans whether abortion should be legal typically find that the country is sharply divided on the issue, whereas polls that approach the issue from a more personal standpoint — and ask Americans under which circumstances women should be denied an abortion — tend to return higher levels of support for access to the procedure. Personal experience with abortion has been proven to shift views in favor of legality.
Nonetheless, the people who oppose abortion may not realize that some individuals in their circles are having abortions. Recent research has found that anti-abortion Americans underestimate the number of people they know who have ended a pregnancy, largely because women choose to keep that decision a secret from others who might pass judgment on it.
When it comes to DesJarlais specifically, his office continues to maintain that he has a “100 percent pro-life voting record” and has “always advocated for pro-life values.” He narrowly won re-election in 2014 despite the controversy over his potentially contradictory stance on abortion.

Complete freedom is anarchy that is why we have laws to make murder, rape, and other harmful things illegal. I say protect the freedom of the unborn child to be born and enjoy his or her life instead of being cruelly murdered while he or she is helpless.

Society should be about protecting the innocent and keeping them safe. Not murdering them when they are the most helpless.
