5 Times Paul Ryan Said He’s Not Running for Speaker of the House by JULIA HAHN4 Apr 2016Washington D.C.581 As Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)56% grows more insistent that he will not be the GOP nominee, Politico’s Mike Allen points out that Ryan is “running the same playbook he did to become [House] speaker: saying he doesn’t want it, that it won’t happen.” “In both cases, the maximum leverage is to not want it — and to be begged to do it,” Mike Allen explains. “Of course in this environment, saying you don’t want the job is the only way to get it.” Indeed, in the weeks ahead of becoming House Speaker, Paul Ryan repeatedly said that he would not become Speaker of the House: 1.) As The Hill reported in September of 2015 in a piece entitled, “Paul Ryan Won’t Run for Speaker”: Ryan, currently the chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, had a succinct, one-word answer when asked if he wanted to succeed Boehner, following the Speaker’s stunning resignation on Friday morning: ‘No.’ Asked why, the Wisconsin Republican said ‘Because I don’t want to be Speaker.’ […] ‘This is a job for an empty nester,’ Ryan told reporters on Friday. 2.) Pro-amnesty and mass migration enthusiast Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC)86% , who described Ryan as his favorite member of Congress, confirmed Ryan’s opposition to becoming House Speaker, telling the New York Times: “I asked him [Ryan] a while back if he would consider being the speaker. He put his hands on my shoulders and said, ‘I love you guys, but not enough to be your speaker.’ ” 3.) Ryan later restated his refusal to run as House Speaker in a statement released on October 8th. As the Huffington Post reported in a piece entitled, “Paul Ryan Won’t Run For House Speaker”: Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said he will not enter the race for House speaker. “While I am grateful for the encouragement I’ve received, I will not be a candidate,” Ryan said in a statement Thursday. 4.) Paul Ryan then reiterated his statement to NBC. As Talking Points Memo noted in a piece entitled, “Paul Ryan: Sorry Guys, It’s Still No”: Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) told NBC News through a spokesperson Friday that despite Republicans calling for him to enter the race for Speaker of the House, he’s still not interested. The news comes after Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA)59% and other party leaders had said they were campaigning for the House Ways and Means Committee chair, and that Ryan would take the weekend to consider entering the race to succeed John Boehner. Paul has repeatedly disputed he would enter the race, and said Thursday after Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)40% abruptly dropped out of the race: ‘I will not be a candidate.’ 5.) On October 14th, Ryan’s spokesman again confirmed that Ryan had not changed his position on the matter. As Breitbart’s Matt Boyle reported in a piece entitled, “Confirmed, Again: Paul Ryan Is Not Running For Speaker Of The House,” Boyle writes: A spokesman for House Ways and Means Committee Paul Ryan confirms yet again that despite all the donor class and political establishment wooing, Ryan is not running to replace outgoing Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) as Speaker of the House. ‘His position has not changed, and I cannot predict if it will,’ Brendan Buck, Ryan’s spokesman, told Breitbart News on Wednesday afternoon. Paul Ryan has a two-decade long record of pushing open borders immigration policies. Each year the U.S. adds nearly two migrants for every one GOP primary voter in Wisconsin. As a result of unbridled Muslim migration into the United States, more than half a million U.S. girls — and more than 2,100 girls in Ryan’s home state of Wisconsin — are at-risk of suffering the barbaric practice of Female Genital Mutilation. However, Paul Ryan has pushed to expand the pace of Muslim migration into the United States. For instance, as House Speaker, Ryan funded visas for nearly 300,000 (temporary and permanent) Muslim migrants for this year alone. According to Pew, only 11% of Muslims in the United States are Republican or lean Republican. Link

Today we have the Wisconsin Primary. Polls close at 9 eastern time. 42 delegates at stake. The breakdown: 42 total delegates: 24 from Wisconsin's eight Congressional Districts; 10 base at-large; five bonus; three party.
This is the another opportunity to begin stopping Trump. Cruz needs a big victory here as millions of dollars have been spent by everything anti Trump. Trump has also had a bad week leading into Wisconsin.
All life hangs in the Balance! Well maybe not that big a deal. ---------------------------------------------- For the Democrats:
86 delegates at stake. The breakdown: 57 Congressional District delegates; 10 pledged Party Leaders and Elected Officials; 10 unpledged PLEOs or superdelegates; 19 at-large.
Does Wisconsin feel the Bern?

You'll probably be able to get a great deal on a 65" TV!
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

so is he the one they are gonna try to push in the brokered convention? Since Rubio petered out he's the establishments choice. He's been walking in lock-step with them for awhile now. Boehner just doesn't up and quit while practically escorting his new toy down the isle to the 3rd in line seat for nothing. They have an opportunity here that doesn't present itself very often and I just can't see them letting that opportunity pass and having to choke down either Trump or Cruz.

You guys get so confused. I am for Trump or Cruz, period. But until this year, I WAS part of the Republican Establishment and I know full well how it all works. Now just watch and learn. BUSH III

All this tells me is that they may just be donating to the individual without regard to party affiliation
I actually like that. I do kind of the same thing. I don't follow any party lines.. I vote for the individual..

These kinda things are a work in progress.
Not saying you, but just a general statement:
You older guys complain about us being the "now" generation. Well, y'all of all people shouldn't be expecting it to work perfectly out the gate then. Kinda takes a hit toward your credibility.
In my experience***** disclaimer*** before somebody post scientific evidence that my experience isn't true****, nothing major works perfectly out the gate. Hell, my damn iPad needs updates to fix whatever bugs Apple didn't catch before. Windows is the same way.
Anybody who's ever bought an audi, Benz or BMW brand new will tell you that you gotta baby the thing for the first 1200ish miles before your "allowed" to run it into the ground.
The ACA is here to stay. Now the Feds needs to be constantly working on fixes and adjustments to get it working as well as it can. This will take some time. Maybe you are right but look at all these other countries that have similar healthcare programs. They have been doing it much longer and still haven't worked out the kinks.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

You can downplay America's achievements all you want, to your own detriment. I would never downplay America's achievements. I have simply highlighted that an unfathomable amount of people died fighting as the Allied Forces during both WW1 & WW2 and out of respect to the injured and fallen...we should also acknowledge their role in helping win the war. I'll never forget when in my early 20's I was in an English pub and because of my accent I had attracted some interest. I ended up talking to an older gentleman who said (in jest), "oh, you Americans you join the war two years late and then go back to Hollywood to make movies saying how you won the war". He was being typically British, sarcastic but, having friendly banter. However, I realized that...he lived through the blitz & food rationing and he had a good point. How insulting that must be for a certain generation of Brits to watch those old films with rarely a mention of how much manpower, brainpower and "stiff upper lip" resolve the British population had in fighting the Nazi's from day one.

Look up on BBC a mini series called The Heavy Water War. It tells the tale of how the Scandenavian countries contributed to the war effort. Again something not spoken about in American schoolrooms. It's really well made. A Band of Brothers type of great story too.

That sounds familiar, Portland.
The coalition was massive...Canadian, Indian (the Sherpa's were instrumental in so many battles!), Australian, NZ, South Africa etc. all joined European countries. Who knows, if that coalition had not have formed the result may have been different. THUS, why we cannot let Trump come in and send such mixed signals to our allies.
Forget Piers Morgan's essay about Trump (nobody in the UK likes Piers anyway and they were happy for him to move to America when he took over from Larry King)...there are *serious* worries and concerns across the world about what Trump is saying and the possibility of him being the US President.

Meanwhile Bernie leads in Wisconsin and the CNN talking heads are downplaying and bashing him as much as possible. This whole process has just become disgusting to me. Can't see how I could ever vote for Hillary. Would never vote Trump or Cruz... sucks to watch this unfold knowing Hillary is stealing the nomination.

I am sure you nodded in agreement but the truth be known, he talked to you in English. If not for America he would have starved or been bombed to death or would be speaking to you in German.
He talked to me in English because, it is their language. Also, the German's were in many countries such as Poland, France etc. yet, they maintained their language and culture. Plus, the Russians were closing in from the east so, Germany's days were always numbered. 10 million+ Russians died fighting in the war...not to mention the millions of civilians. I think they too should receive their fair credit for defeating the Germans.

If they want to make a telling of the glories of their exploits and release it here they are free to do so. Otherwise I'm sure the history Ph'ds and buffs are well aware of each countries contributions.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...

Agreed. Some are acting like the u.s. version of the war is the only version. I bet if you were to study Russian history, they'd claim they did most of the work, etc. All the countries do that.
