In general our picking of the lines has SUCKED. I'd honestly rather just keep drafting QBs until one makes it. Joe T, Mack, and Schwartz vs Timid, BQ, Weeden, and Manziel.

Our QB's have sucked butt since 99 ... just embarrassing I guess my point is you can draft 5 HOF OL in 5 straight drafts and you still won't be .500 unless you hit on the ONE QB you need. It's such a lopsided game anymore

Mike Lombardi and Joe Banner running the draft would be the worst case scenario.

This is not my worst scenario, but my most likely scenario for this coming draft is that we draft at #2, and trade down from #32. I think that there is a real opportunity with the 32nd pick to really add some value.

I could see a nice bounty coming in return for the first pick of the 2nd day.

Worst case? We pass on Wentz and he leads a team to the Super Bowl. Meanwhile the Browns don't draft a QB and ten years from now are still looking for a guy "worth" taking in the top five. Value be damned. If one of these QB's can fit in our system I don't give a crap if he's "worthy" of the #2 pick. ALL I care aboout if finding a damned quarterback

Not only sums up Cleveland football but the state of the entire game. It's fast becoming unwatchable. I used to watch every game on TV. Now I suffer through the Browns beat downs and that is it. I hate the modern game.

We then give him 3-4 years [w/out drafting or trading for another qb because we gotta give the new guy time] and we are even further behind. Oh, and we watch guys like Ramsey, Bosa, or Jack light it up and become Pro Bowlers while guys like you keep saying we are on the right track? Bango!

to link a #2 Wentz pick with the failures of our 22's BQ, Weeden, Manziel is not really the same actually it makes at least my thought process valid.
Couch was the only guy we took UNDER #22 lets not get off track and look at his value...all I'll say is as an expansion team and then the failure of Clark...just not a good prospect move.
Now we have Wentz at #2...as luck "FINALLY" has it the team picking #1 ahead of us just took their Franchise QB last year ironically at #2...barring a trade up to #1 us having first crack at the best QB in this draft. And we are not talking Geno Smith stuff.
As bad as we have been over the years...this is the lowest we are drafting since our expansion 99 & 2000 worst. Its not an easy accomplishment - I think your point is well taken about the caliber of QBs...we end up taking at #22, heck go to 15 on up just not much success of getting a stud QB, Rodgers is a one time thing. Brees was in the era of QB snobbery...his height dropped him...heck Rodgers height dropped him.
We are not going to get a chance as good as Wentz at #2...for a long time. SpiritBro has it right...we will be 10 years from now looking for our Franchise QB still.
This is our shot. jmho

What Makes you guys think Wentz is a franchise QB, "Draft Experts", I mean I hope he is if we take him but the guy has only started 20 some games in college and that that was at the 1AA level, is he worth the #2 pick, is he a franchise QB, who knows, only time and the Browns from office can answer that question, I would like to see us take Ramsey or Elliott, or trade down and stockpile more picks, Lord knows we have a lot of holes to fill, if we don't take Wentz or Goff (Who would be my choice if we take a QB @ #2) then we can take one later to groom, who knows maybe Cook, Shotgun or whoever might turn out to a franchise guy ... JMHO

That way he can't disappoint. Just remember your wish is the Browns play forever without a franchise QB. We live with the dregs. Always. I'm sure you were very pleased the Rams moved up. Now we can't take Wentz. So now I'm hoping we take Elliott just to tick everyone off. THAT would be funny.

Trade out of 2 all the way to #22 and then select a QB. I would throw myself off a bridge.

1.) Panic-pick on QB. When the Rams take your guy stay away from the other and pick Tunsil. (First RT , probably LT in a few years).
2.) No downtrade when the glock is ticking.Bad situation for an FO with lack of experience. This will be maybe a worst trade with no real value (= downtarde before the Draft get started.)

Just not Bosa. Great player but he's a 4-3 end. At #2, we need to try to be as sure-fire as possible so don;t undertake a transition pick.

Intangibles, Arm Talent, Athleticism, Frame.
I might have to actually look closer at the second part, but that's the way it seems.
Intangibles are pretty clearly better to me.

Do you like Wentz?
If so what do you think makes him different then Cook? I will preface this by saying that while I watch a lot of football, I do not study it the way some of those here do, and I do not understand the game to the deep level that some here do. I appreciate all that I learn here. As to Wentz, if I had to pick between him and Cook, I would take Wentz. Now, if asked if I prefer Wentz at 2 more than Cook at 32, probably. If it was between Wentz at 2 and Cook in the 3rd, maybe not. That would be an interesting conversation, maybe? Ranking just not QB, but QB and draft position. Realistic draft position, so no Wentz/Goff in the 5th. Anyway, I think Wentz is more athletic and has a better arm. I am not too worked up over level of competition. He played against who was on his schedule, that's about all he could do. And while there is no proof, I have read enough about Cook's (lack of) leadership to really make me leery of him being the face of my favorite team. The fact that he was never voted captain (which is a fact, he never was a captain) tells me something. If it were between Hackenberg and Cook, in any round, I take Cook. So, I guess he was not my "worst case" scenario after all

Makes more sense now.
Wentz and Cook are such similar prospects it seemed odd to me for someone to like Wentz at 2 but also have Cook as the worst case scenario.
